- This video is all about clutch control and how to manoeuvre the car at slow speeds to get out of tricky spaces.
Clutch control is the speed between 0-5mph
To keep the car slow, the trick is to control how much you release the clutch and to squeeze back down below the biting point by about the depth of a pound coin.
In this video I will be explaining the importance of keeping the vehicle slow. How to position your feet on the pedals, how to control the clutch. What happens if you over accelerate to move off?
1:05 Clutch explained as a number scale
4:02 Normal driving
4:22 Clutch control
5:07 What happens if you accelerate too high
6:10 How to position your foot on the clutch
6:31 Moving off in a tight space
7:09 Moving off uphill
Glad to see you back , excellent content explaining to learners. Keep up the great content.
Thank you 😊

You're 17 now. Getting closer to applying this information 😀
I always stall the car when moving off slowly and thought that my clutch control was super bad... Did not realise that it could easily be solved by using slight acceleration. Thanks a lot for this! ❤
These videos are really helping ease my nerves, I’ve got my first manual driving lesson today, I understand the clutch when changing gears, but a bit nervous about clutch control when braking
Great explanation, just saw it randomly pop up in my search results when looking at videos on how people check oil on my new car as it doesn't use a dipstick. Great explanation and it actually matches what my own instructor taught me basically. The first lesson I believe I was shown the way of revving high at 2 or 2.5k rpm and then you really see how the clutch works and the control you can still have even though you are applying a lot of revs. Sometimes when doing reverse manoeuvres I may not use gas really in my instructors car, but I didn't investigate the auto rev behaviour and if it has it. To be honest in my actual tests and reversing after passing, I usually still apply gas and we had to used to do the reverse around a corner exercise which doersn't seem to be part of the test now
best driving channel out there
:) thanks
This is the best explanation I have seen on clutch control, it was so helpful! I've been watching your content since starting my lessons a month ago, I've really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for helping me understand and for giving me the confidence to keep going 🙂 You're ace!
Glad to help!

Thank you for explaining the clutch control in simple detail
Your videos are Fantastic use them for my learners from a fellow Driving Instructor Thank You
Nobody explained me the clutch control like you. Today only I knew the correct clutch controle. Thanks a lot.
This is the best explanation I've seen of clutxh control. I was wondering what was going wrong at the traffic man i kept on stopping instead of controlling it
Was really a good video . I had zero idea bout driving honestly . This really helped me ❤
Thanks, got the point well about the clutch control 🔥
I’m being taught in a diesel and am just being taught to use the clutch to reverse and move off so worried when I get my own car. Hopefully this video will help me!

Really insightful and informative video :) so glad I found this channel. Is there any chance you could do a demonstration on the emergency stop with the pedal cam? It's the the part of learning to drive that I find the hardest. Keep up the great content
Yeah will I will definitely put that up :)
Why ask for an emergency stop tutorial vid LOL just DUMP THE CLUTCH IMMEDIATELY AND SLAM ON THE BREAKS, what was so difficult about that???

Thank you Aman really need that video
Very helpful indeed
I've been learning from a diesel engine Toyota Hilux and been taught to only use the clutch moving off, thos however got me moving off slowly at lets say at the top of queue at the traffic light. I'll practice more to use the gas and clutch so I can easily transition to a petrol manual vehicle.
Thanks very much is very educative
Amazing I love it you explain everything I need to know
Glad it was helpful!
@@ClearviewDriving I made notes I recorded your video I saved it

Hello, I like your videos, they are very informative. Can you please add a detailed video for how to control the car steering for the new drivers especially who is learning the driving at an age of 65+ years. The problem is the new driver tightly holds the steering and keeps on going left or right side of the road. It will be easy if there is some video for how to handle the steering and how to hold it correctly while driving slowly as well as at speed. Thanks
Great 👍😃❤
Evebthough im 15 i watch her videos and it makes my day it will help me a lot in the future tsymm
I teach to pivot on the heal to control the clutch unless their feet are too small.I think you have more control supporting your foot on the heal
Wow 😲 awesome keep it up
Thank you ❤
Excellent explanation. Like to follow your instructions always. Sameera From Italy
When you stop at a traffic on a hill (not moving back the car )can I follow the same without using the handbrake?
❤ Excelent
Thank you
The lessons are great. I've been driving in the UK recently. I enjoy watching your video. The car I guess is diesel? 🤔

Here in Australia most people generally drive automatic (in my experience). UK is full of manual drivers
small power hatchback automatic cars used to not have very good gearboxes and they have quite a premium price tag here, so a lot of first time drivers used to and still don't really have much choice away from manual, and to be honest it makes for a more enjoyable drive. A lot of the multi-task activities that people seem to get away with in America simply are dangerous or illegal here. I'm sure Canada and Australia are similar tho
Does the clutch wear faster if im practicing like you did ?
Thanks mam
can you please make a video explaining clutch control when parking using a foot cam and reference points . Thank you

When pushing the clutch down a little to slow down the car, would you recommend pressing the accelerator steady or lift it off? E.g. at 4:47
Whenever you’re trying to slow the car down or squeeze the clutch down
You don’t need to accelerate as the engine is disconnected at this point
@@ClearviewDriving Thanks! This is one of the best videos out there about clutch control :)
Nice car
So when driving at high speed would we have to clutch down select 1st gear and then break?
Can we do clutch control on 2 or 3 gear?
How to use clutch at high speed? And do we have to press the clutch fully to change gears or just enough to disengage the engine and transmission like motorcycle?
Thank you....😀👍
hey it works the same at high speeds, so I would always put the clutch fully down to disengage and then change gears and release the biting point. this routine will become faster with practice :)
♥️
Use different colour of letters on screen to read easily, lessons are great
Hello i have one doubt , while I’m in slow moving traffic when i release half clutch till biting point should i accelerate a bit ? For not stalling
You wont stall if you got your foot on the clutch however, if you let go of the clutch too fast then you will. It also depends on the scenario that you are in! Hope this helps.

Do you hold your heel always on ground or no ?
I only ever keep my heel down when using clutch control (once I’ve found the biting point
For normal driving driving my heel will not be touching the floor
@@ClearviewDriving then you putting 1st gear finding biting point (heel on floor) then move off the clutch and repeat with 2nd gear and so on? Or you only use heel on flore when moving off when you parked and need to go slow and for maneuvers ? Sorry for stupid question haha.
@@cliptsix just when I’m doing a manoeuvre or clutch control to move slowly
That’s the only time I keep my heel down
So I put the clutch down as normal and then find the biting point , once I’ve found the biting point then put my heel down to stabilise my foot on the clutch
When I need to drive off normal
Heel of
If you keep your heel down, your foot get stuck.. the clutch slides down your foot into the middle part
Which makes it’s harder to control the clutch
Hope this helps :)
@@ClearviewDriving thx then when changing gears while normal driving just holding clutch with heel down and taking heel off after like 2,3 seconds yes? And thx for that love your videos they are so helpful.
@@cliptsix you can do it either way
Your feel can slide along the carpet
When releasing the clutch count to 3
Thank you for watching:)
I've Driven with Manual Transmissions for a Year nothing else🚘
I never stalled a car even on steep hill with petrol i could even hold a car for hours only on clutch not break that's called dclutch or Biting point hold clutch steadily in biting point car wouldn't roll back even a half inch im a master of clutch no matter petrol or diesel
My instructor wants me to keep my heel on the floor all the time but i find it uncomfortable as i have small feet.
Your are now 17 😊
Even in petrol first' gear raise clutch upto biting point and hold it steadily let the car Move but some cars don't as a result of low torque in that case just accelerate slowly here it goes car moves away easy peasy 😂
I pull off the same way people keep telling me im driving wrong lol
And how about driving in heels?
Does this work downhill too?
Hey yes but the car will just roll when you come off the brake
So you won’t be able to feel the biting point.
Moving off down hill is easier
@@ClearviewDriving Hi, asking because I live in a hilly area on a downhill road and was wondering how to reverse park with clutch control.
Yes but if you keep your clutch at 5-6 too much it will burn your clutch later
