- Presented at the Festival of Speed 2018 in Goodwood, the Singer DLS is a reimagined Porsche 911 by an American company, Singer. The DLS represents the pinnacle of their lineup with a very premium price, but also a Williams-made 4.0-liter with 500 hp @ 9,000 rpm. There is not a single detail that would not look good on it. It is perfect!

This must be the Singer/Williams F1 engineering collaboration, the engine are breathed on by Cosworth too. The details and quality of the one-off parts are the thing that sent the price skyward. Just perfect from every angle.

The fact of the matter is that this is the realistic price. Take in mind Singer is a small company, and this stuff takes a lot of engineering

No, Porsche should not. Leave it to Singer. Major car manufacturers have done this already and the results were poor i.e. Chevrolet Camaro; Ford Mustang. Yes, Porsche could do a better job than either of the other examples, but the results would likely pale in comparison to a Singer Porsche. Remember, major automobile companies are profit driven. They achieve profit when achieving scale, even on seemingly limited production models. Those limited models are all cookie cutter cars. Porsche will easily build 200 limited production 911s in a year. Ask Singer how long it will take to achieve that milestone. Singer Porsches are a one-of-a-kind. Maintaining the cars after they're returned to their owners post modification is another part of the story yet to be told by Singer. All of this is less of an issue with, for example, the relatively mass produced 911 GT3, GT3 RS, and GT2 where any Porsche dealership is capable of servicing a late model Porsche. There's no way Porsche could do what Singer does and answer to their shareholders. I also don't want Porsche to try and prove me wrong. The result would likely be on par with what Camaro and Mustangs have turned into today... new cars that do a poor job of wanting to look like old cars but with current car technology. Porsche should stick to their proven successful approach... the evolution and refinement of already great cars. Porsche wisely keeps their past in the history book. Singer has wisely, respectfully, and competently reimagined the past and reinvigorated it with what most of us would have never imagined. This is Singer's proven formula for success. Prediction: no Singer 911 will ever be sold, they will only be inherited.

@@0Turbox Porsche would not even think about trying to produce a new air cooled flat-6 that is as good or better than what the original cars came with from the factory. Emissions standards make it impossible.
@@RedondoBeach2 Probably not, but they could sell the engine alone. A modern 3.0 l air cooled engine with about 300-350 HP I would drool over.. It could be a nice PR stunt, selling 1-2k of these engines to oldtimer rebuilders.

The Singer is indeed based on a 964 that gets stripped down and reshaped with new body parts to look like the older 911 models.

In some respect I agree, however not everyone can build something like that. The amount of OEM and beyond quality one-off parts that go completely undected are staggering on these things. Let alone things a CFD modeled engine developed by a formula one team. Unfortunately, something done with this level of obsession at such low volume simply cannot be had by a normal guy. Unfortunately, because I am a normal guy. Although you can pick one up for 400k.

What the hell costs so much in that thing because this car isn't any 1000hp track beast so I assume everything was spent on the best materials possible, and it isn't filled with the ultimate innovative technology either .
