had this model outback, had the legacy gt turbo stinger and other more powerful cars, driving this car in the snow is more fun than anything else
This car is anything but powerful, but pretty fun on snow, for sure.
i can feel that understeer
It's the drivetrain of 50/50 power split. And man how I love that. You really need to work for the drift, not just press throttle and go sideways like in a RWD or RWD-based AWD. Incredible fun

@@bluespinningdotinspace Yes, many things are not as evident before you experience it. Before I might have preferred an RWD-based AWD in theory, but when I tried this one IRL, I love it. Definitely not as easy to initiate the drift, you know that it is always the same front/rear power distribution and thus what to expect. I have experienced a Stelvio Q4 a little and it seemed like a handful to keep going straight under throttle.

I've never driven one, yet, thanks to Jeremy Clarkson, I know that the front diff is a pain in the ass. And I can see that in the video. Great video.
I could use a rear LSD, but then this is more challenging. Some GR Yaris or WRX STI would be a bit more predictable, I assume. Never had the chance to try out on snow

How did you record this mate? Go pro with head mount?
Yes, a head mount, and some slower shutter speed (use double the fps, i.e. 30 fps @ 1/60 sec or 60 fps @ 1/120 sec) to give it a nice motion blur to appear faster.

Yes, a 2.5 and 2.0R are both 165 hp, the two-liter got more revs to play with.

Low power, 50/50 power distribution and open front/rear diffs don't favor an oversterery behavior. Not sure what would you naturally expect from such a car layout. You gotta work for those slides, it's not an RWD-based system that only requires throttle input to go sideways, but it's more rewarding when you manage to go sideways before the turn (only safely possible at night time of course)

Not saying it isn't risky (what is not irl tbh), but far from what you describe. Snow is not all slippery, it is grippy, only the speeds are different.
