John Denver is my most favorite artist of all time! He wrote "Annie's Song" for his first wife and "For You" for his 2nd wife. Just a gifted singer, songwriter, and environmentalist! I also recommend "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" and "Shanghai Breezes" from this concert! I listened to this concert on CD every day of high school!
Calypso is one of my favorites. John Denver was a big conservationist and was friwnds with Jacques Cousteau, who famously had a TV series back in the 1970s called the "Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau" or something like that the boat that Cousteau's ocean adventures happed from was called Calypso, and Denver had gone on it with Cousteau at keast once. He wrote the song in honor of Cousteau and his boat and mission to educate the public about ocean life.
He wrote this song when he and his wife were going through turbulent times and were always fighting . She went nuts and had a whole bunch of his favorite trees cut down, they separated for the fourth time and that was the trigger .
I don't know how I missed this one a month ago, but this is a fabulous song and I love, love, love your reaction to it! Annie was John Denver's wife and, unfortunately, they got divorced eventually. But he always seemed to love her and she always seemed to love him. She grieved bitterly when he passed away. Fabulous reaction! Here's to your next one! 🙏😊💜
I've watched a lot of reactions to this song, and yours is my favorite! You get it, girl! I was a young woman back then (I'm 66 now) and fell so in love with him. I was devastated when he died so young. Please listen to more of his songs. His voice is so pure and gentle. I will never get tired of listening to John Denver. Rocky Mountain High is another song I know you'll love.
John Denver was a great singer-songwriter & actor. He had so many hits in the 70's-80's. Some of his signature songs were "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Rocky Mountain High", "Poems, Prayers & Promises", "Calypso", "Thank God I'm A Country Boy", "Sunshine On My Shoulders" etc. John appeared in several films & television specials during the 70's-80's, including the 1977 hit "Oh, God!", in which he starred alongside George Burns.
Without a doubt my favorite artist! If you think this is beautiful, you should react to “For you” by John Denver. He wrote this song on a chair lift going skiing. I saw him 2 weeks before his passing! He will always be my favorite!
Super-Duper Amazing... lol you were cracking me up but what a great reaction. Take Me Home Country Roads is still probably my favorite but he's got tons of good ones. For a really fun one from him, check out Grandma's Feather Bed.
Let me tell you something. I was 3 years old when this song came out. Your reaction is the same as mine every time I listen to it. For me that’s 50 flippin years of hearing it. He wrote it while going up a chair lift to ski. Something like ten minutes to write. It was for his wife at the time after a fight.
What a marvelous reaction, sweet Blessing. ❤ Words can't describe what it's like to see you being swept away by music that touches you so deeply. It's one of those things that keeps me coming back to you again and again. Because your expression and reaction and articulation are all straight from the heart. It's just beautiful to behold. 🥰 I can't offer you any background on the song other than my speculation that the love of his life was named Annie. 😄 Have you done his "Rocky Mountain High" yet? If not, I'm certain you will enjoy it. Big hugs, sweet lady. 🤗
This song always makes me CRY, and gives me GOOSEBUMPS every time I hear it! It's a Haunting Ballad & a TIMELESS CLASSIC from a Singer who was taken from Us Too Soon! RIP JOHN! WE LOVE YOU!! 🥰🤩😞🇵🇷
One of my favorites is his song "Shanghai Breezes". It has an "Annie's Song" feel and the harmonies are to die for. Plus I have a friend who also is half a world away.
You are a hopeless romantic! I am both a new subscriber and a fan. Thank you for a wonderful reaction. My favorite line, "I don't know how to comport myself!" 💜🧡💜🧡💜
Loved your reaction to an artist I have loved for over 50 years! John wrote such beautiful songs and sang them with so much emotion in such a clear, pure voice. "For You" and "Sunshine on My Shoulders" are two of my other favorites by John Denver.

Possibly one of the most beautiful love songs ever. It’s is dripping with sincerity and true, earnest love. It never fails to move me.

An American musical treasure… R.I.P. John Denver
There may never be anyone to rival John Denver. He was one in a hundred million.

He wrote SB after talking to Annie on the phone on their 15th anniversary, while he was in Shanghai and Annie in Aspen.
As has been said, he wrote this for his first wife Annie. He wrote it in 10 minutes on a ski lift in Colorado.

I see where someone requested John Denver's song For You. Please react to it. You won't be sorry ❤
He wrote it for his wife Annie
Have your ever heard Dacy Farrow it Beautiful to Sad but beautiful
Que hermosa y sexy voz
Try to find a version when he was younger. It is much more poignant than operatic/nuacnced. That is my two cents worth.
Do you need to cuddle and warm up?
Don’t ruin the reaction by singing the song.
There Is Nothing Wrong With Singing Along JD's Music Is Impossible Not To Sing Along Too
The original studio version is even better. 🎸
