As a gift to my lovely wife who was a fan since grade school we would cross the Tetons to Jackson Wy where John would hold a 2hour concert for about 50 people. It was a wonderful and personal experience.
I saw several of his concerts with one being at San Diego state amphitheater. I was in the third row. I saw him in Cerritos CA and met him just five months before he died after being a fan for more than 2O years. One time we waited outside the Greek theater in Los Angeles and he eventually drove out in a rented Firebird and put down the window and told us thanks and goodnight. Very humble and kind to his fans.
I was a young girl when he was so famous. His voice is so clear and beautiful. I still get sad remembering when he tragically died. What a loss that was. This song is one of the best love songs ever. I love how it makes you emotional too. He will always be in my heart.
John Denver was a fantastic singer and song writer. He had loads of great songs and sounded better live than on the studio versions. If you liked this you will love 'For You' from his Wildlife Concert as it is stupendous. He died far too young and the world is a lesser place because of his death.
As I'm watching you swoon to this song I'm doing the same, only with teary eyes. It's such a beautiful song. I haven't heard this in years...thank you for sharing my Darling.
Yes, Annie was his wife. He said once he wrote this song on about 10 minutes after skiing down a mountain in Colorado and thinking about how having his “senses filled” reminded him of Annie 🥰 Many ppl play this song at their wedding ❤
I love John Denver’s music and he wrote many great love songs. If you like love songs though, there is no one better than Chris de Burgh… Lady in Red, The head and the Heart, Same Sun, Forevermore, Last moments of the Dawn, Love of the heart divine, So beautiful, Suddenly love to name but a small fraction of beautiful love songs he has written and recorded.
John Denver was a great singer-songwriter & actor. He had so many hits in the 70's-80's. Some of his signature songs were "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Rocky Mountain High", "Poems, Prayers & Promises", "Calypso", "Thank God I'm A Country Boy", "Sunshine On My Shoulders" etc. John appeared in several films & television specials during the 70's-80's, including the 1977 hit "Oh, God!", in which he starred alongside George Burns.
Someone else mentioned the song here but I would also like to recommend it since it is my very favorite John Denver song: "Sunshine on My Shoulders." I know you'll enjoy it too.
He even wrote a love song for a ship: Calypso, the vessel on which that famous marine explorer and documentarist Jacques Cousteau sailed the world, bringing us along with him on his tv series. John Denver penned this while joining Captain Cousteau on one of his adventurers. 🚢⚓❤
Let me suggest James Taylor Youve got a friend, and Jim Croce Have to say I love you in a song. From your reaction to this I'm sure you will love them too.
Have you ever seen his movies? If not before you do, look up the history of George Burns and his career to get a perspective on these two much loved personality's. The two of them were adored by the world at that time in the same way because they represented the best humanity could be... Although not perfect, their work was not boastful or brash but reflective of graces of human interaction and the beauty of love and nature around us. In John's case his haunting songs got the world to rally forcing government's to legislate clean air and environmental acts to stop corporations from destroying our world. George was a comedian and his act was devoid of meanness and insult which he viewed as cheating, and a cheap way to get a laugh. His act was a way to escape the woes of life if just for a night. The movies are like watching the father and his son, Beautiful and up lifting.

If it's possible to fall in love with a voice, John Denver and Andy Williams hold my heart!
