My friend was running with gangs from 11-18 when he was shot in the head and now has a traumatic brain injury! His "family " left him to die and never looked back. He now talks at Cook County Juvenile Detention Center talking to at risk youth about gang life and has made impacts on these kids.
Really like his relatable approach and how he doesn’t antagonize the kid. That’s how you get them to actually listen as opposed to screaming into their face

If you listen to men whom ended up in prision, for a year or so, mixed in with hardened prisoners, whom are doing a long stretch, the end results can be brutal. If you listen to the young guys that either get turned out, in exchange for extra food (and I don't mean the protein shake kind ...), to got subjected to actual gang attacks, on them, leaving serious psychological scars, that they struggle talking about, because it's all too embarrassing, after all of that, you still think that's funny (hey, I like grim humour, too ...), then OK ...

Much respect. This interaction would have less meaning in an alternative setting. The intensity and authenticity may be enough to reach these kids. When I was younger, you couldn't tell me a damn thing.
I truly have the utmost respect for Joseph(ex-gang member). He keeps it 💯 and tells these mislead kids what they truly need to hear. I've lived that life as well and finally worked up the strength and courage to leave that lifestyle behind me. I'm now living the life that I was meant to live and I'm finally able to look at myself in the mirror and be proud of who's looking back. My family and I have rebuilt our relationships that was close to being non repairable. I feel for these mislead kids and pray for their eyes to open to reality.

Maybe it wasn't her quoting him but it's an inference of his comment "I love women, but you are a good looking dude". Calling me stupid doesn't change the facts. Alot of wisdom can come from the people who have made the worst mistakes in their lives. This man speaks from his soul his very core and he speaks it true. Love is powerful, there's nothing gay about having love in your heart as a man, it makes you a better person. Touch the hearts of other people, it's worth your weight in gold.
