Wow... what an impactful moment. I think a lot of these kids don't feel confident and feel the need to create some type of persona. The way the gangster talked to him was very touching. He was firm yet very emotional. I could tell he touched that boy's heart and he will remember that moment forever.
Like plenty of kids nowadays, he probably got bullied at school or online so he was trying to mask a "tough" persona to make up for his low self-esteem/confidence and to avoid dealing with his mental issues.
I've known kids like him, they are soft kids and are conscious about it but stupid enough to think that if they start to get into what they believe to be the gangster lifestyle they will no longer be soft. They just end up being the laughing stock in town and possibly end up in jail being raped after robbing some younger kids because they don't have the guts to even rob someone their size or age.

His meaning is pretty simple, you gotta stay above ground where your life dreams and goals are at (disneyland) vs. making poor decisions and digging your own pit, deeper and further away to that goal. At some point that kid will have an ultimatum, and can happen depends on his life choices. Things only get harsher in the open world, thats why having parents to support u as u move on. Or a guardian thats close to you the most, will help you solve/find those answers.
