      @surette2012 13 дней назад

      @@MA-mh1vshonestly, I believe in that mindset only to an extent. You can accept and let go of what happened without giving the person who traumatized you the exact words ‘I forgive you.’
      Handing over forgiveness honestly only lends relief for the one who did wrong. It’s common in the church, as well. This divine whatever will come and bless you if you open your heart to your abuser/attacker. It’s why a lot of abusive types congregate there. They can never truly be held accountable or sit with the consequences of what they did.
      I believe in radical acceptance and to just move forward within your best ability, but no one that has harmed you is entitled to soft words to balm their guilt. ‘It’s okay, I forgive you. You are free now from your shame.’
      Is the choice words these people dream of hearing from those they’ve damaged physically and emotionally.
      I think it’s very important to let victims have boundaries and not try to coerce them to accept apologies.
      Your victim shouldn’t be held responsible for your discomfort over what you did wrong.
      It’s always these born again religious types that are like ‘but I said sorry? Why won’t you Forgive me, already?! Be like Jesus.’ So manipulative.
      Since this is public spectacle you can clearly tell the shooter is desperate for forgiveness to save face. It’s for vanity and perception. They noted the added pressure of asking for forgiveness on tv might make the poor woman say it. She doesn’t care if it’s sincere or not, she just wants to hear it and for the world to hear it so she can ‘kick it and have fun in life without this annoying bummer from her past following her around.’ Meanwhile the victim is traumatized and has a physical reminder of the horror forever.

There’s a reason why…because they are a child. What about that 6 year old boy who shot his teacher in the chest in VA. He told kids that he’s going to kill her. He did no time and his mom was only given 2 years. This 14 year old girl went in to steal money, not to kill or hurt someone because she was told the gun was empty. It was an unfortunate situation just like so many involving children and guns, but they are a child at the end of the day. In my home town just last week a 14 year old boy died from a gunshot due to his brother paying with a gun that “just went off.” Another young girl was shot in the leg by her friend a girl who was playing with a gun. Kids know right from wrong, but still do things anyway. It’s not right, but they are a child!!

      Is it possible she just agreed to appear for the money? I assume guests on Dr Phil get paid. Does anyone know how much?

    I can see both point of views. Jerrie has to live and be reminded by this every day, due to surgeries, self-esteem, etc. but Shawna is correct in that she doesn't have to. That doesn't mean she can't think about Jerrie often and wish her well, but she has served her time, she's asked God for forgiveness, she's asked Jerrie & her family for forgiveness & even gave a hug, but she also has to move on with her life. She can't beat herself up forever. It's terrible, but true. Forgiveness on both sides is the only way.
    We've all sinned, of course, not to Shawna's extent, but imagine if you've reminded yourself of the horrible things you've done every day or someone will forever remind you of it. It'll eventually drive you insane, and you wouldn't be able to move on in life. God bless them both....Also not picking sides or trying to Victimize Shawna, just sharing my opinion....

    Anyone who can look at their victim in the face and say "i don't think about you. I served my time and moved on." is remorseless, no matter how many crocodile tears they shed for the camera.

    She , the shooter, came in with a nasty attitude!! The nerve!! If she meant to shoot her or not she did....she shouldnt have been there with a gun in the first place. She dont seem remorseful at all.

    Shame on you Jerrie Jones that after all these years you are still not holding yourself accountable about what happened.
