I will never forget the day my mol told my hubby 'Blood is thicker than water" He turned around and looked at her and walked to their garage got his tools brought them home. We didn't speak to them for almost 3 months. The impasse was broke because we all sat down and agreed out son didn't need to suffer because of being stupid stubborn.

@16MedicRN my hubby, myself, and mil refused to speak to each other for 3 months. So all 3 of us were. My son was only 2 years old. It wasn't my son who needed to suffer because of our actions. My fil made all of us sit down and talk it out. Im grateful we did. It was basically saying I realized hubby stood up for me when I thought he wouldn't.
I disagree with Dr Phil on keeping relatives in the picture. Sometimes they are so toxic and vile they have no place in the family dynamic.

I married her golden son, she was convinced I was a life draining succubus. 23 years later I proved to her I’m in it for the long haul. My son recently got married and I absolutely adore my daughter in law! She takes such good care of my son and that’s all I could hope for. As a mother I just want someone to love my babies as much as I do 😂. And to see my son become a great husband and father just makes my heart burst.

After my husband died I maintained a relationship the best I could She finally needed me. At 98 when she was dying I spent 6 weeks or more at veterans hospital with her during covid lockdown She didn’t have the virus but there were many rules She died in my arms comfortable and having a beautiful passing God Bless her🌺

I wasn't crazy about who my Son picked to married, but my choices were, embrace my new Daughter, or lose my Son.
You've done the right thing for him and his happiness. It's our job as parents to support our children. If they make a poor choice and it ends badly, we help them pick up the pieces, learn from their mistakes and move on. Ultimately, if he's happy, that's marvellous. Your daughter in law and son obviously love each other, which is wonderful.
MIL #1 is beyond awful. She smiles nicely and acts so innocent when she is a complete nasty piece of work. I think the only solution is to divorce.

I was "married" to a mommy's boy for far too many miserable years. She was always number one. He never, ever stood up for me nor defended me to her. I never said a word to anyone about this nightmare I was going through, suffering in silence for decades. The happiest day of my life was when this subhuman packed up and left. It was also the first day of NO MORE MIGRAINES for me!!! My life now is quiet, peaceful and stress free - heaven!!!

My mother in law hated me and wished death to the pregnancy of our son. My son's grandmother only saw my son twice @ Age 1 and 6...then never again, it was her choice. I don't know if my mother- in-law is dead or alive. I was married in 1979 and divorced my husband in 1999, it was destroying my health. Their family was just evil as she didn't like American people. They were Jamaican. I gave the marriage a long chance. The marriage was mentally abusive to me and our son and I had to save myself and our son as his father became more abusive like his mother. He took her side totally and didnt stand up for us. When our son turned 19, he found out his father stole his identity and the Magistrate awarded our son the right to change his name since he and his father shared the same exact name but our son was a junior.

My MIL, SILs and BIL have ganged up on me and bullied me for 30 years while my husband has stood by and watched. I've wasted so much time dealing with this abuse. I'm finally DONE. They can have him. I honestly wish I had walked away from this bs decades ago. As a MIL myself, I can't even imagine mistreating my son's wife. I'd never be able to live with myself if I ever put strain on his marriage. I just don't get it.

I’m so glad that my sons in law don’t hate me. I hit the Son In Law lottery where my three daughters are concerned. They are all happily married to amazing men who love and respect them. Isn’t that what we want for our children? And I would never dream of interfering in their lives. My youngest daughter’s husband always has to tell my Happy Mother’s Day before my daughter does. It’s a cute competition.

And these men won't change either. They will give up their marriages rather than offend their mothers.
This is why you vet people before you marry them and don’t ignore reg flags…. You should get along with their family members
Exactly!!! I'm sure those MIL were always like that, and the red flags were there for all to see. I guess that loving yourself more helps your eyesight when you are in a relationship. It helps you to be aware of what you are getting into and run before it's too late! 😂
