I totally get why they would want to get as many IDs as possible, since I’m sure they catch a bunch of folks who have active warrants or they get a heads up if someone has a long history of violence or drug use, which might lead them to approach the rest of the stop differently. BUT… the infringement on the innocent isn’t worth it. I’m all for cops catching baddies, but they’ve got to stop demanding everyone’s “papers” if there’s not a dang good reason.

The Nazi Gestapo members do not operate that way.
      They are aggressively practicing
**Pro Active Policing** by way of traffic stopping anyone they please even if there has been no violation.
And, they can also argue the citizens being stopped and engaged are **suspicious** and used as their lawful reason to engage the citizen and start their argued to be lawful investigation.
They can lawfully traffic stop you and engage you and detain you and start to investigate you.
Of course they will always argue they had a lawful reason or reasoning for traffic stopping the target citizen which often enough is a fabricated false reason or reasoning.
They do so with the intent to start a **fishing expedition** while hoping and anticipating they will uncover or discover anything at all that they can further cite and charge the citizen for.
Thing is, often enough they do discover something besides the original reason or reasoning for the traffic stop that they can cite and charge the citizen for.
That being the case those **discoveries** that do occur encourage the Nazi Gestapo members to continue working the percentages while **Marauding About looking for possibilities and therefore subjecting the law abiding citizens to their aggressive Pro Active Policing practices that often end up Criminalizing the citizens for the most Trivial of Trivial reasons or reasoning
They can detain you and ask you or demand or command you to exit the vehicle and then handcuff you for argued to be officer safety reasons or reasoning and practice their handcuffing skills.
While handcuffing the citizen if the citizen resists being handcuffed in any way at all ( or perceived to be resisting by the Nazi Gestapo henchman ) then the Nazi Gestapo Henchmen will not hesitate to turn physically violent on the citizens and claim the citizen was resisting arrest and charge the citizen for resisting arrest while that is what they were hoping for as further charges and multiple charges look good on their record for promotion.
In effect they can escalate the incident in anticipation of the citizen not immediately cooperating or not immediately obeying their requests or demands or commands and will drag you out of the vehicle forcefully and violently and forcefully handcuff the citizen(s) while claiming the citizen(s) did not obey a lawful request or demand or command.
They will retaliate against the citizen(s) if the citizen angers them for any reason at all and aggressively demonstrate who is in charge and who is in command of the situation, at the time.
The Nazi Gestapo Henchmen will teach the citizen(s) a on the spot lesson about who is in charge and command and demonstrate their authority and power over the citizen.
All of that and more *trauma* is what many citizens find themselves subjected to for some of the most Trivial of Trivial reasons or reasoning.🙈🙈😖😂

I give this officer some respect for backing down and recognizing the passenger's rights. It's not even considered 'backing down' as much as it's the officer's knowledge and recognition of citizens rights. I think the guys in the car did a great job at sounding smart rather than argumentative. This Officer is a minority amongst his peers. We need more Officers like him. Police say they conduct traffic stops for Tag/Turn/Brake/Head lights out in the interest of safety. When the driver questions the issue, they refuse to let the driver exit to see the burned-out light, usually because it’s a lie. But they don’t simply write a citation and send the driver along. They escalate the stop by demanding or forcing the driver out of the vehicle, under the pretense of officer safety, a pretext to intimidate for a vehicle search. These days the persons at risk are the drivers as the police routinely use any accusation from driver’s verbal abuse, to recording the police to escalate, using excessive force and violence to make an arrest. Since there’s an officer safety risk, and a citizen/driver safety risk, why don’t we simply eliminate the Tag/Turn/Brake/Head lights out traffic stop? I propose changes to the vehicle citation laws, to protect citizens and ensure officer safety. I think we should demand our state legislatures to change the law. Starting NOW, when police see a tag light, headlight, turn signal or brake light out, they can look up the tag registration and send a letter informing the vehicle owner to get it fixed. After all the burden for repair is on the owner, not the driver. Safer for everyone and cops can go back to the donut shop.
