Harvester of Sorrow was exceptionally well performed in Seattle 1989, but it always sounds good to me. I agree with Sandman, Fuel being overrated but not bad, I’d include Sad but True and King Nothing on this list, totally agree that Whiskey in the Jar is one of the worst songs on Garage Inc.
Seeing Fade to Black at three hurt a tad as it’s my all time favorite Metallica song, but I completely agree with your number 1 selection. Seek & Destroy is easily the most overrated Metallica track.
I agree with everything you said about Harvester. It's just the same riff over and over throughout the song, the solo is boring and plain and the chorus is basically James just yelling "Harvester of Sorrow". It's a good song with amazing lyrics, but very overrated
not to say that it’s really good and defending it for being overrated, but back when my dad was stationed in okinawa back in the late 90s he carved H. O. S. on the back of his helmet for Harvester of Sorrow because it is was favorite song
I like the list and agree with your points for the most part. I don't agree with Harvester, it's good example of mid paced heaviness but I do think Leper Messiah, The Thing That Should Not Be and Eye of the Beholder are underrated in this regard. Whiskey in the Jar is a good cover overall, but Thin Lizzy version is so much better that I have to agree.

100% agree for Whiskey, I don’t like that song (well it’s a cover). Not a huge fan of Fuel as well. I thing it’s too soon for If Darkness had a son. I disagree for all the others… but yes Sandman has been overplayed.
I mean, they're all amazing imo aside from If Darkness and Whiskey in The Jar. Whiskey is soooo clumsy and weird, i hate the main riff so much, the rest goes from alright to bad
Overrated, to me means everybody likes, but I don't see whats so great about them. I only have three songs on this list. 1. Sad But True 2. One 3. King Nothing
I think there is a lot of misconception of an overplayed song being an overrated song. If you have anything too much too often, it spoils how special it is, and an overindulgence of being force-fed even your favorite food makes you want to throw up. Oversaturation of a song dilutes its genius to the point of "cookie-cutter pop song" perception. The song loses its edge, cult status, and commercializes the song with no true appreciation of insight, composition, or lyrics. There are many great songs that music stores employees once loved but now hate are the very songs that almost every potential customer trying out a guitar plays in the store. The overplaying of _Smoke on the Water, Nothing Else Matters, Stairway To Heaven_ make music store employees perceive these as "overrated" and make them want to throw up.
Very good comment dude. You defined very well what the misconception was and gave a good example. Yeah, If Darkness Had A Son is an example bcs it just became popular and somehow commercialized without even being good enough to be considered an "average song" thus it shouldn't have been a single. That song is so weird, repetitive and makes up for an annoying listen. (*it's just my opinion*) The solo is easily worse or as bad as the one in ManUNKind
Master, Harvester, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy... you could have put more effort into it instead of putting masterpieces on this list... And Whiskey in the jar is only a cover
Harvester and Seek are so insanely overrated, they're fine but not god tier masterpieces. Whiskey is just a cover, yes, but i don't like it and unlike the songs you've mentioned, it does not deserve the hype, love and popularity it has
It became popular because it's a masterpiece. Imagine being in 1986 you buy the disc and come back at your place and listen to this song for the first time what would be yout thought about it? People need to stop being influenced by the fact that if something is "popular" it is overrated. Analyze the music. the riffs, the melody, the lyrics, the solo, how does it make you feel@@midnighttube1941
Only ones i agreed with were Darkness (didn't like that one. Deffo the worst on 72 Seasons) Sandman and Nothing Else (again, because they steal attention away from other bangers like The God That Failed) and partially with Seek but i love that song, but i can agree it takes attention from other awesome songs like Whiplash and No Remorse (my favorite on KEA)
No Remorse is a killer song and I don't see why Metallica plays If Darkness at every show.. Imagine how happy ppl would be with them playing Struggle Within, Escape, All Nightmare Long, Trapped Under Ice, Wild Things instead of that thing. It's called M72 for a reason... they should play the album in its entirity plus playing more rare songs would make up for a more popular and appealing tour than it already is
I feel like master of puppets is a little overrated. dont get me wrong, i love this album, it has my favorite metallica song, (disposable heroes) but its not there best album. (In my opinion, its fine to disagree.)
So do you think that Metallica's take on Whiskey is bad, or song is bad in general? Seeing that it's based mostly on Thin Lizzy's version, Hetfield himself would probably hunt you down for disliking the song in general. XD
I appreciate the video but to make an opinion on this viable you actually have to explain why something is overrated. MOP might be one of the most overplayed songs ever, but if it's SO GOOD that it excuses it then it's not. You have to actually explain what about the song you don't like. As an example, a valid criticism about MOP is the fact that it drags on and on and on, it's reasonable. Then, if you want to talk about how overplayed songs overshadow other and better ones, the right video would be: "10 Metallica songs that deserve more justice" Hope I explained myself
I think that overrated is the wrong word to describe these song, because some like fade to black and master of puppets are actually works of art. Of course they are the most streamed song so people don’t know that Metallica have made a lot of other beautiful songs. Personally I really like harvester of sorrow, I think it gives a lot of power and badness but I agree it is a bit ripetitive.
If darkens had a son: Cannot listen to The original, so Boring. The one on my play list Is a fan edited. You find it as "shorter and faster" on YT. Way better.
Overrated is a song that is considered better than it is. FTB is a good one but a bit slow and repetitive. It was actually funny to place it on 52/119. I'd put it higher now but still not even top 30
I think fade to black is so popular because its not that heavy. Most people dont like metal, so the slow, melodic songs like ftb, the unforgiven and nem are the most popular.
I'm not the person who just tells his age but i confirm you i'm in my late teens so i'm young. As someone young i appreciate Load and Reload and some stuff from the new albums. Kind of like Murder One hehe I already knew Metallica before, had heard to Nothing Else matters, My Friend of Misery, Enter sandman before Stranger Things 4, from my parents and older ppl i know. That scene with Eddie in the upside down is what truly got me into the band, him shredding the master of puppets solo

I understand that you dont like this, I am not saying that you cant dislike this song, in my opinion it isnt bad i quite enjoy it, but not every needs to like it and i respect that. @@vinceyrankingscrazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in this cage. Can't you see that's why my brain says RAAAAAAAAAAGE
I agree with Master of Puppets Im a huge Metallica fan but that álbum has some really awesome songs! That's not the only one...
1. Sad But True
2. One
3. King Nothing
Totally agree about If Darkness Had a Son. Decent song until you get to the chorus, which sucks
Finally someone else agrees that whiskey in a jar isn’t great
yesss!!
It's just ok imo
Whiskey is just a cover, yes, but i don't like it and unlike the songs you've mentioned, it does not deserve the hype, love and popularity it has
@@vinceyrankings opinions
@@mr.busticador2691 There you got it!
master of puppets is underrated
master of puppets is one of there most popular songs and it's extremely overrated
It's just overplayed but still an iconic song, yet I still think there are better songs and it could've been way more than it currently is
@@vinceyrankings I meant overplayed
I think the main metal part of master of puppets, while cool, is a bit overrated. I personally think the interlude leading to the solo is way better.
tbh without the interlude it would not even make it to my top 50
It's called M72 for a reason... they should play the album in its entirity plus playing more rare songs would make up for a more popular and appealing tour than it already is
Nothing else matters is genius.
One of the greatest bonding songs in rock history. It will be played at my funeral, without doubt.
this is an absolutely preposterous video, i understand opinions but all of these songs are amazing
XD
Haven't listened to the original yet. It's just not for me, i don't like the main riff but some parts are cool
Ok that's enough RUclips
Orion
Surely the "most overrated" instrumental but still really good and not that overrated like S&D or Harvester
The drums on Fuel totally predicts the terrible drums on the St Anger album 😵
I appreciate the video but to make an opinion on this viable you actually have to explain why something is overrated.
MOP might be one of the most overplayed songs ever, but if it's SO GOOD that it excuses it then it's not.
You have to actually explain what about the song you don't like. As an example, a valid criticism about MOP is the fact that it drags on and on and on, it's reasonable.
Then, if you want to talk about how overplayed songs overshadow other and better ones, the right video would be: "10 Metallica songs that deserve more justice"
Hope I explained myself
My top 5:
5)Moth into flame
4)Whiskey in the jar
3)Battery
2)For whom the bell tolls
1)Why even the fuck is "Too far gone?" on top 6# of spotify?
I think that overrated is the wrong word to describe these song, because some like fade to black and master of puppets are actually works of art. Of course they are the most streamed song so people don’t know that Metallica have made a lot of other beautiful songs. Personally I really like harvester of sorrow, I think it gives a lot of power and badness but I agree it is a bit ripetitive.
If darkens had a son: Cannot listen to The original, so Boring. The one on my play list Is a fan edited. You find it as "shorter and faster" on YT. Way better.
Whiskey in the jar I can understand since it is a cover, the original Thin Lizzy version is much better
No Metallica song is overrated to me honestly just I wish they play more rare songs more often or songs never been played live yet
3:03 i love fade to black beacuse i can relate to it
are you ok?
@@she.luv.hexiii no
Master of Puppets may be the best metal tune ever written. I tuned out after that call.
Something I feel is a crime is that Stone Cold Crazy is the least listened to song on Garage Inc
Ok come on from whom the bells tolls is amazing
Great video! ♥Only one I disagree with Harvester Of Sorrow. Pretty fairly rated in my opinion!♥
They play Whiskey in the jar in order to give tribute to cliff and he likes thin lizzy band
Really? I'd find to live is to die a way better way to tribute Cliff 🤔
i always try to tell my friend overrated =\= bad and he still doesnt listen to me lmao
And also in my opinion the best song in master of puppets is battery
Bro, fade to black is a freaking masterpiece
How old are you and when did you discovered Metallica? I think it matters, at least to me, to understand your choices more...🤘
I'm not the person who just tells his age but i confirm you i'm in my late teens so i'm young. As someone young i appreciate Load and Reload and some stuff from the new albums. Kind of like Murder One hehe
I already knew Metallica before, had heard to Nothing Else matters, My Friend of Misery, Enter sandman before Stranger Things 4, from my parents and older ppl i know. That scene with Eddie in the upside down is what truly got me into the band, him shredding the master of puppets solo
@@vinceyrankings Alright! 👍 I was 14 when I discovered Metallica and I m 45 so there were only 5 albums at the time...when I look back, I ve changed my mind on some songs...and it will probably happen to you as well ! At first, I used to like The day that never comes, great intro, great verses...and since a few years, I find it's just a bad rendition of Fade to black ! I find that Screaming Suicide is a bad song, the main riff is weak but maybe one day I will find it good...no, not this one, bad example ! 😂 You know what I mean? I'm glad the young generation is into Metallica! 🤘🤘🤘 Greetings from France! My English is not perfect...but no so bad! 😁
I can see why you don’t like Harvester nor Darkness, but you gotta admit, they’re songs that sound way better live (honestly all songs on the list).
1. THE MEMORY REMAINS (definitely one of my top 3 worst ever Metallica songs)
2. Jump in the Fire
I LOVE jump in the fire but I agree on The Memory Remains
I dont think that whiskey in the jar is overrated. I dont think that many people even know about this song. I understand that you dont like this, I am not saying that you cant dislike this song, in my opinion it isnt bad i quite enjoy it, but not every needs to like it and i respect that. And overrated means that it is rated highly or valued more than it should Meaning that it isnt as good as people say it is and whiskey in the jar doesnt isnt a song that people would say that it is extremely good. There are alot of people (including you) that dont like this song and more that dont know this song as i said before. And whiskey in the jar is a cover song it wasnt wrote by metallica that is why it doesnt sound like other traditional metallica song.
The song was overplayed at some period of the time. Non Metallica fans who know Metallica it is one of the songs they know and like.
Im considering your are a young person but I do not agree with most of this list. MOP, FWTBT, FTB, SnD, ESM, we’re absolute game changers in their time. And the fact they are still relevant today shows how important they are. Harvester is a great song but more of a filler. NEM always had a hard time liking that song since it came out 30years ago. My wife loves it, figures. Overplayed yes, but it does not mean overrated.
You don’t now what your talking about. These songs are great!! Seek and destroy is in my top 10!!!
what? the most overrated song is:
1. Whiskey in the jar. every, EVERY and i mean absolut E V E R Y other Cover song is 956959595 times better. I hate it when they play whiskey on a METAL concert.
➡(best cover songs: breadfan, mercyful fate, the wait, its electric, turn the page, astronomy... etc)
1.2 enter sandman! there is no other song that is so "bad" but popular. The song is basicly just one lame riff... and it is stolen by "Stone" from the song "get stoned"....
the song "get stoned" is better lol.
never been to a show of them, but I'll probably go in 2025 since I do not want to hear If Darkness Had a Son, that song is so overrated and I don't like it. But I bet that song will be one of the "good and classic songs" from the new albums.
I haven't even listened to the entire cover of Whiskey bcs my brain just asked me to pause it, it was awful.
I thought memory remains turn the page and one would have been on here

I think Anesthesia should've on here tbh.
nothing on this list is overrated nothing is overrated
Whiskey is a cover so you can't complain about the verses and chorus lol...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, wrong though it may be.
I DO NOT agree with anything you say
Well, it's your choice to agree or not. Maybe i'm wrong with some stuff, then correct me. But let's be honest, some songs like Whiskey are not that good and Seek is not as strong as some of the other songs on KEA
@@vinceyrankings Seek & Destroy is my favorite from the KEA man. It's on 15 in my list. That song feels like it's not from KEA. Also I really like Whiskey in the Jar, on my 21. Master of Puppets is underrated
pero por qué fade to black está sobrevalorada? si es buenísima y no es muy conocida
the only overrated metallica songs are every song made after the black album, it is all crap, and i have heard it all.
So many mixed opinions..
It was a great day when I got over it and discovered how great the Load and Garage albums were. I listen to them much more than the old sh&t.

Enter sandman… I’ll never understand. 🤷🏼♂️
No master of puppeta?
fade to black is so overrated
Gosh finally someone who agrees with me. It's really good but not as good as the others imo
worst song on this list is whiskey in a jar. Like how do people even like it it does not sound good at all
Whiskey in the jar is a cover
whiskey in the jar isn't even their song 😭😭
It's a cover but i think it's the perfect example of an overrated song. It's just my opinion, i don't like the main riff but still has some cool parts
Bro why you got to put alot of their good stuff on the list
Some songs steal the attention from other great underrated songs but that doesn't mean they're bad. If Darkness and Whiskey are songs that don't deserve to be hyped imo and I dislike them
Damn, I hate seek and destroy
