Thanks for the info. 👏🏼
Hello Daniel, The 16 D Mercury Dime is the hardest Coin to get to complete the Set . Thanks for sharing. Take care.
I've been collecting since 1962. Great video. But it seems like all the counterfeiting going on today you have to learn the Hobby all over again. Thanks so much you never stop learning.
Keep them coming my friend! Great Job and Thanks for Sharing
Thank you my friend!
Great information. Thanks
That was an awesome video. I have a 1916 D dime in great shape and this helped me prove that it is authentic. Thank you

Thanks Daniel. I appreciate all of the information and background you put into your videos. I sold one of these about 10 months ago. I hope it was a legit coin. I know he resold it to someone else. I know ignorance is no excuse. I really don't know if it was fake. But thanks again for all you do. It really helps.
Thanks for sharing this video good information!!!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks Dan
Nice 42 s today in my copper search very good wheat remaining , suspect will grade fine at least perhaps a bit more. Several red uncirculated 60’s as well and I mean 1960 d ,s

Thank u
Hi ,I liked this video, I'm old guy in Florida who has started collecting a year and a half ago when I retired. I mess everything up when I buy stuff, I noticed that the mint marks on the dimes were closer to the lowest leave on the real one's. Are all of the real one's mint marks going to be close to the leave? And the angle of the D, was a very good thing to learn. I don't have one of these, maybe when I do try to get one. This information will help me Not mess up when I buy it.Thanks for the informative video. Old guy in Florida 😎
Awesome video Daniel same mint mark as the 1914 D wheat pretty cool 🤔
Thank you
No mater what coin i buy it pays to have a good set of eves. Great video
Someday I hope to own a real 1916 d hopefully in about fine condition
🌄 Great job Daniel but I can't believe nobody asked what the value of the better condition authentic dime is ? Not to mention are there any more interchangeable mint marks ? ¿ ? Keep these informative vids rollin..💰🍻✌⛥🎶🎸🌟David🎵🤘🌌🏛😎✨
Thanks again...
You're welcome
Ahh yes the Queen of Coins! I'd love to have one! I inherited a 17D in EF, too bad it wasn't one year sooner! haha If I ever buy one I'll make sure to pick one up from a reputable dealer that's been certified. Thanks for the wonderful information Daniel!
You're welcome and thank you!
Thanks for the video. I like your nice voice..
Thank you!
I will do a video on the 1932 D quarter like this video if it's ok with you
Sure, I couldn't or wouldn't try to stop you but thanks for asking.
Fakes on 1916 too! Definitely See the carve, so better to send it in for the grading. Oh well fakes are all over the place! Good information really Blows me away! Alright thanks again 🎈👍🎈👍😎 V
You're welcome and thank you
Again, very good information. So many fakes out there!! Thanks
My dad found a 1916 d mercury dime while coin hunting back in 1983.. we are suppose to be getting it from his estate and I have a feeling my "stepmother" will but a fake and replace it with the fake..
Will u do a video on the 1921 d walking liberty 50 cent piece... or just 1921 walking liberties in general p,d and s
I will put in on the list. I plan on doing all key dates for every coin type.
Can you tell me if you think mine is real if I email you pic?
What if u have a 1916 dime with back side upside down
I really need to get my scope out and look at mine closer. I have some slabbed and others in cardboard. They really aren't in the best of shape IMO. I don't know about them so I want to know if I can figure them out. Thanks for the info and good video. All the Best ~ Shirl
You're welcome

More great stuff...to those who read these comments...these are REALLY GOOD videos. I've been in the business for almost 20 years and this guy is legit. If you have what you think is a valuable coin, get it graded. I personally won't buy ungraded coins that are $100+ because the market is rife with counterfeits. You can help counter that by buying only graded coins from reputable grading companies - and go to the grading company's web site and verify the coin before buying. It's really sad you have to do it but it is what is.
Thank you Frank! Much Appreciated.
I have a 1916 mercury head but the reverse does not have the fascia. It says One Dime in the center of the dime with olive branches on either side. What is the story with this dime?
Sounds damaged. portsmouthcoinshop@gmail.com
CoinHELPu nope! Not damaged. It’s a 1916 Barber to go with my 1912 Barber. Apparently the Barber dimes don’t have the fascia. Learn something new everyday!
Where would you suggest I have my coins authenticated for a fare price? Thank you
ANACS is the cheapest and not membership required. You can print off their online form and fill it out. You can call them and they will even help you. Only thing coins in their holder sell for a bit less than NGC or PCGS.
Dear Daniel. Awesome knowledge!I pretty much look at my mothers mercury dimes and I am appalled at why someone would screw up any denomination of money to benefit. Thank YOU And I truly believe that to protect yourselves or the buyers to have it stabbed by a high grade co. If the co. gets it wrong... where does the blame lye?Just a thought for the day. Thank YOU once again sweetpea💗
Thank you and you're welcome!
It’s called greed. A lot of greedy people in our society today. I agree with you, it’s absolutely appalling to try and profit by counterfeiting such an iconic coin in us history. Hopefully the lord has plans to deal with such evil. 🙏🏼
I like the 1916S Mercury because I think it's overlooked. It's still affordable in the grade MS64FSB (I have one, and paid about $200 for it). I think it's undervalued in all grades because it's overshadowed by the mighty '16D.
Also, the '16S has a mintage of about 10 million. It's not rare, but certainly not common either.
10 million is a lot, the 16-D is only 264,000 and there's more fakes of the 16 D than actual surviving authentic examples, so no comparison. If this is a way to think then the 17 D Is more rare than the 16 S. You can't go by mintages but how many have survived over the years.
I have a 1916 dime
Hey I got my authenticated by pcgs but could I send you some pics to make sure
If PCGS says it's authentic then it is, I don't review PCGS coins. Sorry.
💞
The only fake I ever ended up with was a 1908s Indian penny where I think somebody shaved off the S and put it on
I'm looking for an AG for an album set
I have one I thought should be AG, very nice coin portsmouthcoinshop.com/product/1916-d-mercury-dime-pcgs-fr02/

Hi I have a lot of coins how to sale it
You can use ebay or social media or take to a dealer
So you’ll be lucky to fine one in VF if it’s real?
No you will be lucky to find one period
This is one of the coins (along side the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent) that I have come to accept that I will more than likely never own.
There’s more to life than these two coins...don’t even sweat it man. We’ve dark-matter and fermi-bubbles to consider. We can let that 1916-D go...fake or real.
At 4:20 "the D is a little high".. I wonder what the D was smoking!
Lol
I collected coins in the 60s and 70s. Were there fakes back then?
There's been fakes way before then.
What's that "w"?
Designer initials
There is one now on eBay that There asking $39,000, wrong D too new judge yourself I've reported it
Mine may be a fake. It is in terrible condition.
Hard to tell
I have a 1916 d where the D is barely readable only the tip of the D is showed because the edges is worn down. but a least it was authenticated. I paid less than $200 to buy it. pcgs authenticated for me but still they deemed it ungradable. even the date was kind of barely readable. but hey at least i have a real one.
So it’s genuine or how did they label it?
@@CoinHELPu they put it in a flimsy plastic holder just tagged it poor!!!
Ughhh mine has the d without space in between
Sort of a catch 22 ... Do you ever feel when helping the honest collector you're inadvertently giving the counterfeiter information?
No, sure don't, they can figure all this out easy.

Right on the Omega Man figured it out. Even fooled a lot of Secret Service agents whit a $20 Saint Gaudens. He probably would have fooled everyone 100% if he didn't put the omega symbol on the coin that somebody spotted. I have to laugh though he created such a great counterfeit even the counterfeits are highly sought-after
Wow there's a lot of fakes out there.
I wouldn't buy one any ways 600 dollars for a good 4 you will never make any money on it and if you are just a collector it's to low of a grade.
Thanks, Awsome advice.
