Interesting fact: The reverse of Mercury dimes depicts a (Fasces) which is an image of a axe bound with wooden sticks. The basic symbolism meaning is Strength Through Unity. The origins of the Fasces predate the Roman Empire. The story of the Fasces is said to be told by Aesop, a slave and story teller believed to have lived in Ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE. The fable is called An old man and his sons. The story goes...An old man has a number of sons who constantly quarrel with each other. As he nears death he calls them to him and gives them an object lesson in the need for unity. Having bound a bundle of sticks together (or in other accounts either spears or arrows), he asks his sons to break them. When they fail, he undoes the bundle and either breaks each stick singly or gets his sons to do so. In the same way, he teaches them, though each can be overcome alone, they are invincible combined.
Wow it's, nice story, in the past, of history! Thank' for share, in. Pre, historical message, into learn about. The date, and how, to strength of UNITY. GOD BLESS. A.ND HEALTHY LIFE.
The similarity is striking. I'ts actually interresting to look at the parralels between the depiction of Liberty on American coins and the image of Marianne on French coins from 1792 onwards. The French revolution and the establishment of the US Mint happened at roughly the same time. And of course Benjamin Franklin, who had a big part in the creation of America's first coins was ambassador to France during the revolutionary war as well. Thanx for watching
Great information. When I started collecting I started with mercs. I’ve got about 50 face. Just got a archival quality mercury book recently to fill. Look forward to it. I remember I do have some from the teens when I first purchased.
That would depend on the grade of the coin, but in an average condition I'd say most likely around $3 to $5 each. Unless you have a high grade coin or a variety? Thanx for Watching!
Wallace was my dad's great uncle, i guess i should say my great uncle! That's so weird that I'm related to a man who minted great coins, guess that's why he left us, well mine now, a ' 1904, 1907, 1914, and 2 other's i will not mention. That's a surprisingly common problem actually, they put the mint marks on some unusual places back then. Even moved them around in some denominations as well. Thanx for watching

I have a particular interest in Trade Dollars. However, I do have a few Barber and Mercury Dimes worthy of note. A 1917 MS FB, a 1920-D MS FB. And a 1919, 1918, 1923, 1927. And a 1905 Barber in AU 56, and a Barber 1909 MS 64 or better, and a Quarter Dollar Barber Hawaiin 1883 in MS 63 or better. And finally an US occupied Filipines 50 Centavos in MS 66 or better. And a few Medieval Coins from the 13th 15th and 16th centuries. Nothing special. But after they are graded I will send them off to auction. Great video. Please do one on American and Chinese Trade Dollars. Good Luck.
Question..With the exception of 1922, 1933 & 1934 Mercury Dimes does this mean there were no dimes minted with these dates? Love your video's Thank you!
Yes - during 1922, 1932 and 1933 there were no dimes minted at all. There were a few dates like 1921 where San Francisco didn't mint any but Denver and Philadelphia did and so on. But generally there were coins issued for every date except those three. Thanx for watching
I have found a 1939 mercury dime , on the front of the dime there is a free mason symbol on it , in the center of the free mason symbol it has a blotch in the center of it , you can see the marks pertuding ,on the bottom ,and the top of it ? is this a 1939 error coin , there is no other blotches no where else on the coin?
@@worldnumismaticnews I checked it over not using a magnify glass , and used a micro scope , it has three bands on it the middle band you look from left of the branch to the right indentation , and on the front of the coin a large fat W with 2 marks little lines protruding off the bottom of the W both bottom V , and one off the top of the w (upside down W above the center of the W) is this a error coin? would it be wise to send this coin to pgs?
1858 was a good date for the Victorian Penny actually. but there are a lot of varieties as well, including two overdates as well. I'ts tough to say without having examined the coin properly. Thanx for watching
World Numismatic News I own a 1944 p Mercury Dime (no mint mark) grade 70!!! How do I know? Well it's flawless, I have done my fair study on high grade coins to know sufficient about the topic. Now in another video by JB coins I noticed how the high grades he showed reached from $50,000 to $130,000... I wanna Sell mine, but I'm outside the states.. I'd like to get a professional collector to come down here AND buy it. If my Coín Is not grade 70, then it's at least 69 AND so far I havent seen any Mercury Dime grading past 68, so mine would be the very first one .. liberty's face is as neat as it gets, full bands, AND I have four More Mercury dimes from 1943 that are gold color, light gold color AND the common silver color.. all of them grade 67-68, not full bands BUT very clóse to it. I know how exactly how full bands need to look like. I also have a 1968 quarter grade 68+ AND at pcgs the top grade is MS68 around $9350.. AND when comparing, mine is a notch higher. Now I also have 1970's nickles which all have full steps AND very likely grade 68-68+ when compared to the top grade ms67 that pcgs has graded. AND I have high grade quarters for many years... Please Let me know if any interest. You can come a weekend AND spend Time at any hotel of your preference AND I can show you what I have. Hopefully you or a high grade collector that you know of may wanna reply to my post. Thanks for your videos, IAM a subscríber to your channel. May God bless you.
I would recommend getting your coins slabbed first. It would make the process of selling then MUCH smoother especially with conditionally rare high grade coins such as the ones you describe. Thanx for watching!

Great information. All those 1916 coin designs take massive influence from French coins
