Wonderful video. I liked the pattern with the dolphins best, and the Type I over Type 2. Assuming the mintage life per single die were under 350,000 in 1917 and 1918, the overdate 1918/7-D would place 2nd in mintage after the 1916. However, this scarce variety was not discovered until nearly 20 years after issue, many of these coins no doubt lost their dates by then and this accounts for why the G4 price is about 80% of the 1916 in that grade.
@@keithhaynes5348 that is a major accomplishment -- a once in a life time find! Congratulations! Collectors don't realize that many dealers have "junk bins" of old coins and especially Buffalo nickels, V nickels and Liberty Standing Quarters offer the best cherry picking opportunities because of very weak dates.
For sure my favorite coin either variety. I’ll probably never sell but I sure would like to know their dates. Mercury dimes, buffalo and victory nickels are often dateless as well. C’mon where in the 21st century and there is no high tech process to determine dates? That’s mind boggling to me. Early wheat pennies the same. But my Indian head pennies, large cent pennies and silver dollars are no problem.
IKR. There is something a little more special about it. I recently came across an alternate design that the artist did for the coin, and then scrapped to come up with this one, looks completely different. Thanx for watching
The dolphins were meant to symbolize the Atlantic and Indian oceans forming the coastlines of the country at opposite ends. But Yeah, I like the original design as well. Thanx for watching
I really appreciate your presentation on the coins that we may have. Your style of getting to the point before we get any older is truly appreciated!
I only have one and it’s a 1920 S Type2. Thankyou for your valuable informational videos. I look for your videos often!

I prefer the type 1 variety, but the problem is that I can't seem to find any with dates.
Hmm, yes that is quite a common problem with these. Design flaw.

It is a problem with those issues.

A beautiful design that was unsuitable for coinage. Of course, most of us will go for type 1.
Very True

By far the most beautiful coin the US ever minted .Perhaps Mr Barber was responsibly for the design alterations out of jealousy
I found a standing liberty quarter with no date where can I see how much it is worth
Would have preferred the original design.
