- This will be a leisurely exploration of realMYST, the 3D remake of Myst. These videos are good for fun facts, time-wasting, and cheesy jokes, but bad for a quick show-me-the-answer-now walkthrough.

"ooh look, a video game!!" hahaha!!
west makes a fart noise! LOL!!! that cracked me up!
yeah, Achenar's room used to scare the piss out of me, especially the dead guy in the box. i always made my dad go through Sirrus' room as well or use zip mode when we played Myst together.
your commentary rocks!!
"The moon over the mountains... and half a pizza."
You are a true poet.
"The moon over the mountains, and half a pizza." Lol! :D
"mood lighting you can trip over,"
I like this phrase. Very illustrative. :P
5:01
"...The effect was kinda cool."
Yeah... my view of Achenar is much the same. Horror mixed with ooh awesome! Don't forget that delicious sound effect.
10:22
"Come on, what's wrong with you?!"
lol, the battle continues. This you vs. the world thing is easily becoming one of my favorite things
A Monkey Mask 3:09
a Dragonfly 3:14
Snake in the Box 3:38
"Maybe I should think of it as...the moon over the mountains, and... half a pizza." xD
Well, I finished the LP, and I've got to say that your approach definitely has its charm. I left with a sense of fulfillment that I don't quite get from other LPs due to the rushed pace they take in their games, and the easter egg bit at the end was really cool. Anyway, sorry for passing judgement before giving the LP a fair chance.
"More steel panels and mood lighting"
That's the entire game right there.
This may be just a theory, but the monkey mask on the wall could actually be a mounted head from one of the tree dwellers from Channelwood(The ones mentioned in the Channelwood journal match the physical description). Achenar's temple and bedroom in Channelwood do seem to give hints of what harm he may have done to them.
'And the next one? What's the next sound gonna be?' *pffft* '...A fart noise.' :D
"Ugh! Gotta get outta this room! What a sick basta- Ooh look, a video game." xE

Best part of the video. XD
When I played through this back when it came out, I avoided Achenar's room too :)
I imagine you to be a tourist guide of sort. You are very entertaining and inoffensive.
the moon over the mountains, and.... half a pizza.
lol.
I'm just impressed you lasted this long, kiddo.
I like to think I got better at this as I went along, but I continue to talk about everything I see. I don't see an alternative besides staring blankly or rushing past everything.
That made me laugh too. What an evil bastard, but hey this video game makes up for it.
@shadyparadox
I actually like how you take the time to describe everything you see. It gives me time to take in the information, makes sure I do not miss anything important and verifies what I'm seeing. On top of that, at times it leads to dry humor. Finally, because of the slower tempo, I feel like I'm progressing through the game as if I were actually playing it.
So thanks for your work! I find it more entertaining than most games I play ;)
Thank you for sticking around! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Depending on the direction the fortress faces, you get a different view out of Sirrus's little telescope. One of the views show a skeleton.
When I played Myst, I solved the fortress rotation with the sound turned off, and totally missed the sound clues. Needless to say this made life a lot harder later...
Hah I remember the electric cage. I was playing this game when I was very young and I don't think I quite comprehended what was actually going on...
It's a little tricky because of the wide range in the audience. Some have beaten the game already and know the answers, some got stuck somewhere in the game, and some have never played. It's hard to find the magic formula that's appropriate for everyone. That's why I stuck to what was natural to me and just said everything on my mind.
Honestly, when I look back at these old videos, there are things I don't like about them either, so thanks for the comments as well as your patience.
I remember when my mom bought this game for my family because it was good for problem solving.
"It's not violent at all." Indeed mom, tell that to my eight year old self, who was unnerved by the SEVERED HEAD in the chest.
Nonetheless, this is a brilliant game!
I've played the first three Myst games, but I still need to find a way to get Riven running.
What a sick bastard. Oh, look! A video game!
LOL
yeah, i played the original again recently, and the body in there grossed me out..I was thinking 'no wonder this scared me as a kid!'
i don't know how old i was when i first played Myst w/ my dad but i think i was too young to play it alone..especially Achenar's room lol
The only real game that had puzzles was Dino Crisis, which was pretty challenging for me, maybe because I was 9 or so. I know it is not like this, but it had its share of puzzles.
I've always thought that the difference between Achenar(spelling?) and Sirius rooms is to maybe entice you to think that one is o.k. while the other is bad.
Did you read the player's guide for this game? Most people wouldn't call the east indicator-sound-thing a brake sound, but I'm pretty sure that's what the guide called it.
haha leatherfaces room
HD sure is taking it's sweet time..
Ackanar must be one sick SOB
Horror games are creepy.
I find it much more creepy that your alone.
Nah, you can figure it out using logic. When you first get in the (submarine?) the place you start gives the North noise, and the only direction you can go is north. Then the first four or so only have two directions, the correct path and the place you just came from. If you are paying attention to the fact that you hear a noise every time you get to a node (and it changes), you can figure it out.
3:10-3:14
I assume that came from one of the Channelwood residents.
Yeah, it's a whopper. Largest size file I've uploaded as of yet.
I think the more I move around instead of standing still, the larger the file size.
I ot up laughing and was gonna type that :p
It's pretty sad that the snake-in-the-box looked better in the old Myst.
Wow, I've played the original Myst like a billion times over the years and never ever noticed the sound-direction correspondence in Mechanical Age, or that it's the same ones as in Selenitic. Would have saved me so much hate back then since whenever I replayed I always did Selenetic last because it annoyed me.
5:30 notice the blood stained floor
I did have a problem with sounds since I don't really have a musical ear.
Like if a clue tells you that the answer is a B Flat, a C, or a D Sharp, how the hell am I supposed to know what that sounds like???
I like Achenar's throne better, its comfy!
1:23 Graphic glitch (hard to see though)
@Robloxfreek221 Masterpiece is an extremely buggy game. Still, the code is the same every time; there is no random element to it.
@eedobaba7727 Nah, they're just goofy props for bad movies.
have you ever been told that you sound like Conan O'Brien?
THIS GAME IS CREEPY
Perhaps I'm just a bit impatient. Like I said, I like the LP, just not so much the minutiae of puzzle mechanics pounded into me like a kindergarten educational program. On the other hand, I've yet to see the rest, so I'm content to watch and see how it progresses.
@deadrisingdude12 Short attention span :-)
