Let's Play realMYST - Part 15 of 34

- This video is basically Part 14 all over again.
If I wasn't clear about what I said starting at 3:40, go back and watch Part 13 around the 1:03 mark. You can see the red button gives away the order the cameras display. Using the images and degree numbers, you can figure out the order of the five cameras and their corresponding symbols. Visiting each location is enough to figure out the five sounds and you can go straight to the cave entrance with that information.
This will be a leisurely exploration of realMYST, the 3D remake of Myst. These videos are good for fun facts, time-wasting, and cheesy jokes, but bad for a quick show-me-the-answer-now walkthrough.

Haha! I can just imagine Atrus running his ass off trying to catch up to the mazerunner!
I imagine Atrus was smart enough to work in the return program ahead of time. He doesn't strike me as the kind who would forget that detail.
True, this wasn't exactly his first rodeo.
can't wait for the next one! this lp is bringing back so many memories.
I love your walkthrough... waiting for the next episode!!
I liked the goofy laugh at 1:23
I am watching this just as 2023 comes to an end. It's literally less than four minutes to 2024.
"..he disgusts me" "hehe" LOL
"like you just gave him a drink of water...or.. something else" HAHAHAHA!
i'm seriously impressed how fast you redid the sound puzzle..i hated that thing :p
7:28- i agree!
I've played around with fly mode a little and what I've discovered is that the game only renders part of each Age at a time. This makes sense since it was made for older computers.
For example, say you're somewhere in the middle of Myst Island. If you try to fly to the fore-chamber without opening the door, you'll fall through underneath the island.
So I'm guessing that if I flew straight up from the Myst linking book on Selenitic, there would be nothing above. I haven't tried it yet though.
Haaa, very nice on the music puzzle. I was able to do it just a little slower than that but I would have to use the organ and hear it first.
At 36:00, with captions on, Sirrus says, "I see the Chihauhau." Hee. Good to know. I see the Chihuahua, too.
I liked the original crystals, mazerunner entryway door, and tram sounds a lot better than the realMYST versions.
Whoa, I was timing how long the mazerunner journey took, and after exactly 2 minutes you said 'well, it takes a coupla minutes' :O
"Screw Atrus and his stupid security system!" Play Aura: Fate of the Ages, the stuff in there's even worse.
Just a little over 10 seconds. Impressive.
You could turn the linking book portal machine off in the rocketship?! I never knew that!
More Wild Mass Guessing: If there wasn't a new Mazerunner in place right after the old one left, standing on the linking platform at the end activated a pressure plate, and linking out (thus deactivating it) made the runner reset.
Expect more of this, I've got nothing better to do and I'm drinking =D
I like the use of annotations.
2:12 "Or...something else."
I find it funny how much I love this line(delivery) even though I don't really think any kind of reading into his sighing makes sense since I don't think it has the mmph required for that kind of inference. His face at 1:22 on the other hand... (and nice giggle)
"C'mere!" haha
And the cockiness returns - ahhh boy. I like seeing how you do it though. :P
4:00
This phrase is awesome.
lol @ lighting rage (more environmental trolling!)
A true classic.
maybe he was going to say "you must help me..to help me you must..whatever" i dunno. it's funnier as you must help me to help me
No, there is a very distinctive 't' sound in both the original and the echo. "You must help me...*t* help me." It may not be the the word "to"; it could be the end of another "must" or something else. But it's definitely there.
I am 13 and I LOVE MYST
So it's that easy:
Sigma button -- order of the 5 degree values -- order of the 5 symbols
And maybe you still know every symbol's corresponding sound. That's it.
I think you can see a bit of the player int the glass TV thing reflection.
Now, which video recording system did you use, it's awesome!
I was thinking, and about the shortcut you mentioned at 3:40, it wasn't possible. At the beginning, the direction of the cameras were randomized. They weren't pointing at any of the sounds. And when you hit the button, it went to each one in a different order. I suppose if you associated the number with the symbol then thought of the order of the numbers and put that order on the sliders according to the sound of the symbols......
...But that would be kinda freaky of you.
lol i would definitly qualify for a Sirrus fangirl! ^_^
It is really not necessary to set the receiver to the right positions / camera angles, however you want to call it. I thought that this was a mistake in realMYST, cause in my opinion the original Myst did not show the degree values after pressing the sigma button. So you could not match the order of the 5 positions to the corresponding symbols that easily. However, I checked that and all Myst versions (even for Mac) show the degree values. My bad!
they should have changed it in the new version so that you could carry both pages at once to avoid backtracking
They did that in the VR version.
there was a spin off of Myst called Pyst
+GalaxyJazzGirl John Goodman is the King of Pyst!
But he doesn't build the stuff does he? He writes it...
@Shadyparadox Shame you can't burn the blue page. 🔥📄🔥
lol, music boasting :D
