- I made one minor change to this video.
This will be a leisurely exploration of realMYST, the 3D remake of Myst. These videos are good for fun facts, time-wasting, and cheesy jokes, but bad for a quick show-me-the-answer-now walkthrough.

This is such an eerie view. This, the lava chasm symbol, and the lava itself are my favorite parts to see here
I like how yet again you get scared by something (the bats) and then end up liking it.
I kinda raged the first time I watched this when it got dark, but now, in full screen, it's not that dark really. Kinda cool this way.
To me, your commentary isn't your biggest weakness, Shady. It's your production rate.
I like these playthroughs with commentary BECAUSE they are different.

nerdy compliment, but I love how they had 3D water animations in this game, as opposed to flat water with a reflective texture. the way it follows the player around (I guess to reduce processing) is such a cool homemade kinda hack...

It just hit me that comparing the original Myst with realMyst feels exactly like comparing the original Star Trek series and its remastered version. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and it just makes you want to see them both :)

The flashlight was added in RealMyst Masterpiece (2014), not realMYST (2000).
Huh, from wikipedia: "The color of water and ice is, intrinsically, a very slight blue hue." I always thought it was clear.
Also, I think it helps to note that unlike a lot of other games, Myst is a relatively quiet game within itself. Watching this game without his voice would probably be more confusing and rather boring than anything else. He explains just about everything that we see- and sometimes even more than that.
I just found this LP and have been watching it non-stop. If it weren't for his voice and sense of humor, I'd probably have just skipped to the end by now.
I just realized, what if the red and blue pages got blown out to sea in a storm? The stranger would be screwed. :P
Selenitic would be a pretty peaceful place to relax if it wasn't volcanic.
I guess you could say that the starting Rocketship was the first one from the original Island, in a different time period.
This is a pretty cool remake. I'd heard about it but not seen it until now. I like the light changes, although it is a bit too dark in Selentic at night.

I worked with radio waves and microwaves, so I'm kinda feeling geeky at the moment of seeing that satellite dish! That "dangling thing" seems to be a microphone, which is odd. You have a device that picks up audible hearing sounds, and another device that picks up way,way, higher "sounds" if you will.
I guess this "world" was a listening post of sorts. To listen in on what exactly? Who knows...aliens? O_O
Aw. Oh well. At least someone made a "Let's play."

They made both Mac and PC versions, but it's unlikely you'll get it work on Vista. I have to boot up XP on my machine.

Anyway, I just wanted to give Shady some encouragement, and point out that most of us seem to appreciate his verbose style of commentary. Just in case, heaven forbid, he may have thought about taking your advice, :)

Your posts make you look like a troll. It's a Let's Play video... we don't want silence! We want commentary, and for basically the entire video. If you don't like that style, feel free to make your own videos. We'll see which are better received.

Seems like someone is dodging.
Now, I'm no LP expert, but I've seen other LPs. They go silent for at least a few moments so viewers can absorb the atmosphere of the game without having to pay attention to the speaker. That...and you really don't need to be talking every second. It's just common sense.
Anyways, you might wanna chill out a bit. It was just my opinion, and if you want to make videos on RUclips then you better expect a large variation of opinions and learn to not freak out over something so trivial.
