- This will be a leisurely exploration of realMYST, the 3D remake of Myst. These videos are good for fun facts, time-wasting, and cheesy jokes, but bad for a quick show-me-the-answer-now walkthrough.

Thank you for these lovely (and educational!) realMyst videos. I've been having fun remembering the old myst games and the Myst Reader which is a collection of the novels into one book.
BTW about this video, yes Jellyfish can see. The box jellyfish has human-shape eyes which it uses to make out sharp details. It can't think worth beans, but it can detect shapes like we can.
"His unbridled lust for RICHES!!!"
Sirrus convinced Atrus that Achenar killed Atrus. Makes perfect sense.
I think the island was under a beating sun. I just watched a dozen videos of this serie, very nice work, and funny. "GO TO YOUR ROOM KIDS!…" lol.
Actually jellyfish can see , they have 32 ocelli spread in an array , it actually has 360 vision since the colony of ocelli are spread around , best it can do is sense distance , light and dark , and a few colors
I find it interesting that the gateway images in the books are animated in this game, while in Uru, which uses a newer version of the same game engine, they are not. I guess they just used the existing Quicktime movies for the linking panels in realMYST, and they didn't feel like going through the effort for Uru, or something.
Oh my god there's still a suspicious stain on Achanar's bed!
Indeed many jellyfish possess eyes, lensed eyes even. And nearly all of them could notice the difference between light and dark.
I think that the Myst book matrialises out of the table because the room is flooded for part of the time and consequently the book would be destroyed if it were out in the open.
Jellyfish have light sensing eyespots on the end of each tentacle.
Have you played Myst IV? It sheds a lot more light on the characters of the two brothers. :-)
10:00 no no no, he was saying that Sirrus convinced Atrus that Achanar burned all the books!
"go to your rooms, kids, and don't open the door unless you drown!" lol yeah, that mess me up, too
in the original, even if you came back quickly, you had to redo everything..this is better
wow..'Sirrus convinced Atrus that Achenar killed Atrus'..lol Achenar's such a nutcase
To answer your question: Yes jellyfish can see, though not like we speak of it. They have light sensitive patches, so they can only see whether it's light or dark. What they do with this information I have no idea. But I'm sure that jellyfish made good use of the light you provided it with.
there's one species of jellyfish that mysteriously has fairly high-fidelity eyes despite having no brain.

I expect you to comment on how crazy it is that a light and a fan would be functioning, but then you come out with something cute. haha awww. So unexpected
Huh, that's interesting that the batteries don't auto reset to zero.
5:47
lol I love how much this bothers you
6:30
Another one of those sad but hilarious things to imagine. "Lest ye" was a nice touch
The rain is awesome!!
lol @ "All right, let's watch another temper tantrum" and "WHAT?!"
ROFLMO @ 8:15
"Let's watch another temper tantrum"
It would be just typical for Sirrius to be the evil one in the end, and Akanar was carzy becasue everyone was accusing him for being evil.
3:21:LOL Sirrus got distorted!
You did this the opposite way that I did; I did the channelwood age first and the selenetic age last. I always felt that channelwood was first and selenetic was last, maybe because I had so much trouble getting past the music puzzle.
Your Myst play along is hilarious man!
Glad you're enjoying it!
@@shadyparadox I played MYST for the first time a few weeks ago. I was able to get through the game without cheating but it was difficult.
@@adamsteele6148 I ruined a lot of games by cheating when I was a kid, but fortunately not this one.
By the way, I uploaded a higher quality version of this series a few months ago with some improvements in it.
@lionlyons The room doesn't flood, as far as I know. It's only the tunnel that floods.
Well, I really thought of them in pairs. Mechanical then Selenitic made sense because of the connection with direction sounds, then Stoneship and Channelwood are connected for a reason I'm sure you can figure out, but I would prefer not to post spoilers here.
LOL! i'd keep Achenar on the coffee table, but i'd free Sirrus just cause i like him so much..then we could listen to Achenar whine. XD
"here ya go dude" XD
The materialization of the linking book looked cooler in the original.
lol "he fell over"
Hey, I just noticed that this is the DVD menu music...
Yeah, they didn't have the technology. I don't know whether they would have if they could have at the time or not.
Hey, that was pretty unsatisfactory with how the Myst book appeared. And it looks kinda small too.
Why do the books sound like screwed up TVs?
i've always thought that, too.
I never got that far I think
I was so confused
First, the seeing as the chest is such a vital part of the security system, it's probably calculated - both positionwise and weight-air-ratio-stuff - to float exactly back and forth the two positions. Oh and I think Atricus or what his name is was a very rich parent, because kids with rich parents usually get whatever they want (Sirrus - greed) and tend to be mean when they don't get whatever they want (Achewhatshisface - maiming). Or not. These are just my thoughts. No sociological proof of it.
Terrible acting aside, Robin Miller has a charming voice
@TimCereja If you got a Windows XP installation CD, you can try with Mircosoft Virtual PC 2007
Oh, and how did that saved game work for you?
I tried to say "lest ye drown" but it's kind of hard to understand.
No I haven't.
I've (barely) played Myst 1... and by that I watch a family member play it when In was 5. Actually knowing what is going on... makes this game all the more awsome and makes me wanna go steal it from said family member. (if they still have it)
If I remember correctly, it was not raining in the Stone Ship Age in the original Myst.
With every page you bring back, Siris and Achanaar (or however you say it) just ask for more pages 80 times.
How many times have you played this game? You seem to know everything about it.
...Is it just me or does it sound Like Sirrus is the better of the two? I mean... Money's tight, Killing and gore... Not so Much.
