The best tinted sunscreen I’ve ever used is the Skinceuticals physical fusion. It’s way too expensive to use daily so I only use it in situations where I don’t want any cast.

We would love to see these tinted sunscreens on different skin tones and colors. As a person of color, I always am skeptical of tinted sunscreens not being a match for my skin color and tone. Here's an idea: How about we get to see more colabs with people of color or just Dr Dray sharing pictures from when she asked her followers on instagram to share how these sunscreens look on their skin color and then make a video to share them with us!

Here in Brazil La Roche Posay have a system of creating your own color, dropping the color product into the colorless sunscreen in your hand. Average brazilian is darker than me, so even the 'light' shade is way too dark for me. I dont use tinted sunscreen anymore because it stains the beard.
      Edit. Is called Color Dose

Colorscience Classic Face Shield checks all the boxes for me, and consistently keeps me from burning because I work outdoors in the summer. It’s great that there are even more affordable options out there at a better price point. I find the Unrefined R&R to be more yellow/warm on me whereas Colorscience Classic more peachy. That said, they both blend well into skin. I still like to have a non-tinted option for sports (mineral or chemical) so I’m not wiping tinted product off my face onto towels or clothing. Thanks for keeping us updated, I’m always trying new sunscreens out as they get better and better😊

The Sun Bum Mineral sunscreen is really nice and does not give you a shiny appearance. It’s great on no-foundation days. I bought the Cotz 50 spf at the same time and liked it okay but wasn’t crazy about the consistency, given it’s not water-resistant. The Eucerin Age Defense 50 SPF (which you covered in an earlier video) is fantastic and I wholeheartedly recommend.

For anyone with a fair complexion who finds the COTZ Flawless tint a little too dark, or finds the shiny finish not to your taste, or needs added hydration and skin barrier support, or needs water resistance (80 min), or enjoys a silky smooth finish…give the COTZ Face Moisture SPF35 Lightly Tinted a try. It contains 16% zinc, iron oxide, ceramides, and dimethicone which gives a blurring effect to the pores. Can be worn under makeup or on its own.

I have a darker skin tone and the Cotz one have been working quite well for the past few weeks. It is shiny and doesn’t really leave a cast to my eyes. The sunscreen needs a few minutes to ~vanish~ and after that the cast isn’t much noticeable. When i apply it a good 20 min. before stepping out the door, i feel comfortable wearing it. The shininess also comes down a little (but i haven’t used it in the middle of the summer yet, so idk about that).

I love the EltaMD Elements tinted. It's very similar to the Restore one I think, but it's water resistant. So for hot, sweaty weather it works better, and it works great under makeup! The tint is a little darker, so on my very fair skin I look bronzed when wearing it, but it doesn't look orange so that's nice. I needed this today!! I know this is a little different from your usual content, but could you do a video on skin and hair care for swimmers? The chlorine is so harsh on skin and hair, especially if you have skin conditions or wavy/curly hair or if you are an athlete. I swam for years in my youth and had terrible frizzy hair and ashy skin to the point where I stopped this wonderful form of exercise because I was tired of always being itchy and having unmanageable hair. I cobbled together this haircare routine from various Reddit forums and articles years ago and it seems to work, but I'm sure there are other things I could be doing prevent dryness, itch, and aging. Swimmers will really appreciate this, and it's a good time since summer is pool season! Thanks, Dr Dray

Before I swim I slather my hair in Aldi's Argan Oil Hydrating conditioner (sulphate free) and put Vaseline Intensive care on my body, including fingernails.
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) neutralises chlorine, So I put my Vitamin C serum (with ferulic) on my face when I get home.
Can I ask how do you incorporate ascorbic acid into you pre/post swim hair and skincare routine? I am afraid that of the concentration was too strong it would turn my fair skin and blonde hair orange😳

    • @scubashar
      @scubashar 2 года назад +2

@@nadab4750 It was a little tricky figuring out how to use the solution at the pool. You can't make a big batch ahead of time since absorbic acid loses its efficacy in a day or so of contact with water. I keep a small jar of absorbic acid crystals in my bag. The ratio I use is 2 tablespoons of absorbic acid crystals to 1 cup of water, and I use a blender bottle (the kind used for workout shakes) to mix it quickly at the pool. I'm not very precise with this ratio in practice, but I have not had any problems yet!
I got the absorbic acid crystals at a local supplement store. The crystals are white in color, so I don't think you have to worry about your hair turning orange 😅 but my hair is black so I wouldn't know for sure.
Thanks for sharing your routine! Sometimes I use Aquaphor on my cheeks because I get dry there.

Can you review the Live Tinted mineral sunscreen? Not many products out there with tints that suit the undertones of people of color. This brand does a great job of being inclusive. Would love to get your thoughts on it.

I use the Colorscience face shield flex because of your recommendations a while ago. I love it. I also use the Colorscience 3 in 1 eye cream. They are both my holy grails and well worth the money!

Always grateful for your tinted mineral sunscreens videos! I was just looking at some of your older videos and thinking how great it is that there are so many more tinted options now! Yeay for us! It looked like the Sun Bum one had a bit of a white cast on your skin, would you say? I do really like the Sun Bum tinted lip sunscreens though. My current tinted sunscreen faves are Drmtlgy and Isdn. But I will look out for some of these others!

I just tried the sun bum one today and there is no white cast at all... It's super soft, like silk and blends right in without being greasy or shiny at all. It's definitely a new favorite for me ❤️

Since were talking TARGET - I have to mention the Boots No. 7 Fragrance free “Foundation Drops”. They’ve been an absolute game changer for me. I add them on the top of my hand to my moisturizer with sunscreen or any untinted sunscreen. Great for when you can not find a tinted sunscreen or BB cream for your skin color.

Thank you so incredibly much. I LOVE your sunscreen videos!!
I tried several sunscreens … I have sensitive , reactive and dry skin. My favourite right now is Ultra Viollette’s mineral sunscreen ’ lean screen’. It has a tint, and is supposed to be mattifying but I haven’t found that ( everyone’s skin is different, and reacts differently to different products etc and I have heard that people with oily skin love it too for that reason).
It’s spf 50+ UVA + UVB ( broad spectrum) …. It’s Australian ( like me!), so the spf really is amazing & trustworthy ( I hope that makes sense! UVA is at least 1/3 of the UVB, at least). It’s fragrance free and has minimal ingredients. I have sensitive eyes too and haven’t really had any trouble with stinging.
. I have to say it was strange when I first started using it, my skin became incredibly dry after a few days and then was fine. Not entirely sure if it was the sunscreen or something else. I have a feeling though my skin was just reacting (?) adjusting (?) to a new/different product. Glad I stuck with it one more day! Wouldn’t normally do that! Oh and it has a fantastic blurring effect 😊

Thanks to you, tinted sunscreens are game changer for me. I never burn so my skin easily gets tanned in the sun, I could not get stubborn dark mark off from pimples I get once a month. I have more tinted sunscreens in my cabinet than any other skincare products. I love your tinted sunscreen videos.

Love Sunscreens! I just reviewed the Peter Thomas Rother Max Clear and Tula Protect and Glow under makeup (they are amazing!!!) and am working on the Sunbum one and Cay Skins new Isle Glow. Definitely have thoughts about both of these especially for makeup wearers. Thanks Doc! 😊

Definitely adding the Australian Gold to the list to try. I will say Sunbums tinted appears to be wonderful for those with a fair-light COOL undertone which is super rare! Most tints lean warm or even orange so to have 1 cool toned option is exciting! 😁

I love sunscreen reviews. Idk if it’s weird or not but us chemical burns the crap out of my skin but the mineral ones burn my eyes bad and make them red. Not sure why. Only sunscreen that works for me is the ishean kiss me mommy one that you recommend. I absolutely love it!

I have an F1 skin tone and the new Tactcha sunscreen is the sunscreen of my dreams. I am wowed by it! And I am appreciative for the very light sheer color that it provides because all the other tinted sunscreens are way too deep. Even the ones that are supposed to be light. They all turn my orange.

Thank you for this informative, entertaining sunscreen review. Sometimes I add a tiny drop or two of Drunk Elephant's D-Bronzi 'sunshine drops' to sunscreen. It eliminates the white cast effect without going overboard with color. I wear that without other makeup. Do you think that it substantially reduces the efficacy of sunscreen? Currently I"m using something from Paula's choice, but plan to shift to either the EltaMD UV restore SPF40 or the Undefined R&R sun serum in the next week.

I just recently got the tinted avene sunscreen in the compact. Im still on the fence. It’s heavy and you can tell I’m wearing something on my face but I like how it reapply’s. My holy grail tinted sunscreen is the colorscience Sun forgettable total protection one. I put that down then the colorscience powder. My skin looks amazing and I get a lot of compliments wearing it.

The Tatcha sunscreen is my HG, after trying almost all mineral sunscreens out there. I have extremely fair, dry, mature skin and this is the only one that does turn gray, orange, or white. Thx for you amazing channel. I trust you and only you.
