CGI is not a dirty world, you don't even notice it in most movies but of course it's more noticeable in a world full of fantasy races ...people are so weird about computer aided skill and art , most forgot about how bad practical creatures looked throughout most of movie history. I do admit I still love Falkor from the never ending story tho.

The Elves awoke in Cuivienen, aka the area of modern day Iraq. 2/3 of the Elves migrated into Europe, 1/3 did not go into the west. They are the Avari. Nobody knows what happended to them and were they went. Arondir could very well be a descendent of Avari Elves from the South.
Disa could also be from a southern House of Dwarves. The modern day mixture of Hobbits is of course nonsense.
Seeing new Balrog in 2024 only shows how incredibly good in terms of CGI the Balrog in 2001 was created and I bet it cost 10x less than what we see in this trailer.

They took off the rings when Sauron put on the One for the first time, not before.

@@danzafrir2900 Some parts of season 2 will be flashbacks, therefore it is possible that the other 16 had already been made. The real difference is not which rings were made first, but that Sauron helped to make the 16, but never touched the 3. That's the reason why they are (more) pure and powerful. The result is the same anyway. The order of the forging of the Rings of Power does not change anything that happened afterwards.

Entwives, Blue Wizards, Tom Bombadil, Sauron as Annatar... they really are trying to pull everything onto the screen with this one. It almost removes the veil of mystery and wonder about these elements of Tolkien's work.

As a long time reader the show actually get pronunciations mostly correct.

I hope they actually contribute to the story in this season, last season they were just doing their own thing and never once added to the main story of the show.
I think i'll keep skipping them in season 2, there's not really anything to make them interesting without a 180 degree turn on their background and attitude.

Honestly .. because Amazon made it look like a Bold & The beautiful episode, storywise .. it feels like a shallow interpretation. I was hoping for something spectacular, or something that touches the ‘tone’ of the books(or films).
It just looks generic fantasy. To me it just feels mhew. What a waste.

The “original elves” would never ever ever use the rings once they knew the rings have anything to do with Sauron.
In the books once they realized it’s Sauron who made them they literally took them off and never used them again after until Sauron was killed.
I could write a 50 page essey about all the wrong things I spotted just in this trailer.
Don’t tell me it’s a movie and it’s different narration and interpretation. One thing is to bend the story and second is to change the entire Lore of the universe.

Technically, Celebrimbor made the rings, not Sauron - the latter actually had no influence on the three. That said, I agree with you in that if the elves know Sauron himself was involved with them from the get go, they'd never have worn them. This is why the whole Halbrand BS was so harmful to the entire show.

This is one of the reasons I'm switching to non-Hollywood produced entertainment.
Yes, this show is the reason why I reread all the timeless works of Tolkien instead of watching this very modern looking crap, and I’m so glad I did
The effects look good, but the story still doesn't make a lick of sense. Sauron hasn't made the One Ring yet, so he can't control the other rings, which he did not make. He also didn't deceive Galadriel last season. He literally revealed himself, dumped her in a river, and then she pretended it didn't happen and allowed the rings to be forged. And of course everyone knows what Sauron looks like now. They could've avoided this by either just following the actual lore or by casting a new actor for Sauron in S2...but they chose the goofiest option--a wig and pointy ears--an unforced error that unravels the whole plot.
The fact that Sauron is just an ordinary dude is so disappointing icl

Sauron had a hand in making the nine and the seven. The three were made without his direct intervention.
To be fair, he still might have influence over the other rings as he contributed to the fundamental formula behind their creation. The One merely magnified that influence.
@@goldengriffon I'm not being rude but that is head canon. It's stated pretty definitively that he needs the One to control the other Great Rings. During the subsequent events of the third age/war of the Ring he isn't even able to locate the elven three, let alone wield any degree of power over them at all. He absolutely needs the One to do this.

There are amazing book adaptations, okay adaptations, bad adaptations, awful adaptations and Rings of Power. What still makes me feel good is that this series will be forgotten as fast as it tried to destroy Middle Earth.
