Hi mate, thank you again for posting the video, looks like you are in eastern suburbs too, I have drawn plans too but trying to find a engineer / surveyor for my project. Would you mind sharing company you used for surveying. Also did you have to use drafting services, or plans from the app were sufficient? Thank you.

Thank you for posting video, great timing, can’t wait to see the updates. I am in the same process of converting verandah to a room. And I have a question that hopefully you can answer 😊.
On your verandah the rafters are seating on a header beam, which is supported by posts.
How do you incorporate a wall frame into it, do you:
    a. Notch and affix the new wall frame into the header beam at the top with no top plate.
    b. Put a top plate of a wall frame under the header beam. Now the header beam sits on a top plate of the wall frame
    c. Remove the beam and put normal frame with a single or double top plate(s). Like most of the wall designs in Oz
Or something else. Trying to do a drawing “properly” for verandah with as little re-work as possible, but all the house drawings and recommendation use a single or double top plates when it comes to walls.
    Thank you

Hey mate from your question I have gone with option B with a double header above the windows and doors I have put in, pretty easy frame really just tagged into the headers and posts I already had, the wall frame sitting under the headers will help with bracing also. Hopefully this explains it

Fantastic, that is exactly what I was hoping for.
      Thank you

Feel like this is the inevtiable trend for many homeowners... with the only way to affordably "upsize" is extend on their current homes... Or move too far away from the (ideal) location theyre already in.
