This review was so helpful, thank you. I have very sensitive skin and can't use any chemical sunscreens, so I am thrilled the Dermtlgy came out with this! They are reasonably priced compared to a lot of other brands. I have dry skin so this will be perfect! Plan on purchasing ASAP!
PS I just went to purchase and noticed that the physical formulation is 2.1oz, not 1.7oz like the original hybrid tinted sunscreen, so you are getting close to another 1/2oz worth of product. Maybe this is why the price is higher. I too wish they would have added more skincare ingredients, like niacinamide, panthenol, or ceramides.
Hi how you reapply sunscreen in your eyes with makeup I can’t put on my eyelids any chemical sunscreen they burn my eyes so I can’t use any chemical sprays do you know any mineral spray to put on the eyelids zone because I don’t trust powder sunscreens to reapply just use them to mattify the face thanks in advance
One thing I’ve noticed, is that no one puts sunscreen in their eyebrows. As someone who has had 2 basal cells removed from my eyebrows, this is something I wish I’d paid attention to. I’ve been lucky to have a plastic surgeon do them and so far, been able to save my brows, but it’s something to consider.
I was bothered by this too -- that Abby wasn't applying sunscreen on her brows -- but then I wondered if Abby had applied brow product in her brows before the video.
Jknb1... this is a good vid but nevertheless is TV is a show I think it like TV.., I’m with you about not putting spf in very vulnerable places like ears and earlobe cancer there is frequent as well as lips... this is what I do. I apply the first coat of spf double of what’s is needed (it doesn’t look bad Zinc is great) I coat my eye lids up to the brows I just cleanup my dark black brows. I use a mineral stick which it can be used as my eyelid primer if you will and the eyeshadow goes on well... for reapplication I really don’t worry bc I’m not in the sun that much but I also use other things like hat etc... to reapply the rest of make up I use a clear gel Japanese spf they are great for reapplication.
16:51 I never comment on videos, but this part just randomly made me feel emotional and touched when you point blank noted that the term "universal shade" cannot be applied to all skin tones. Thank you for saying this on our behalf (BIPOC users). The fact is that it actually sounded like it genuinely came from your heart. You've got a large platform and these things matter. Subscribing :).
The issue is that DRMTLGY does not formulate their own products. They are outsourced and created by a third party. For example this is the EXACT same product as the realm skincare reflect 42 which is about twice the price so if you like that you’d like this. Clearly drmtlgy buys this formula from a general manufacturer and bottles it with their label. Even the realm packaging was identical to drmtlgy until they recently changed it. Hmm interesting 🤔 personally I don’t love it. I found the tint a bit too much and it was a bit apparent on the skin kinda like makeup.
So intersting!! My dermatologist sells her "own" needle free serum which I bought for $120. Then I saw the Needleless serum advertised and was floored because the ingredients were IDENTICAL and DRMTLGY was half the price. I couldnt make sense of it until I just read your comment.
@@michellemichael1676 yea. These products are off label and created by a lab and companies by the formulas and package them with their label. Compare realm skincare with drmtlgy. Identical lol. Thank you Abbey for the review. I ordered this a couple of days ago. Arrived today and I have to say I prefer this new mineral tinted sunscreen. Have been using the tinted hybrid one for about a year now. Honestly I prefer the new mineral tinted version. Has better coverage and it goes on very nice and creamy. As always thank you for your great content
I really like the tinted spf in my opinion. I like that it’s more on the yellow warm side than the original. I have very dry skin and it’s so easy to blend. One year later, I’m still using it.
Thanks for your thoughts on the new tinted one. I too have really dry skin and am looking for something to wear under my light serum foundation for an all day look for Disneyland.
Yay! I’m sensitive to niacinamide so I’m definitely trying this and they are putting it in everything. I wish they would leave skincare ingredients out of sunscreen. Most people use a physical sunscreen because they can’t tolerate many ingredients in chemical ones including fragrance and any skincare.
I really enjoyed how you presented the two types of sunscreen side by side. I agree with you about the final finish. I would also prefer a more demi matte look. Too shiny for my preference.
What I do is when I reapply, I reapply with the Australian gold tinted sunscreen because that one is very drying, so I noticed I get a nice finishing matte look and it's not overly drying vs if I use Australian gold at the beginning of the day.
I want to try this one! As someone w rosacea who is sensitive to octinoxate & a person living in a really humid climate, all-mineral, water resistant sunscreens are a must for me year round. I love the drmtlgy products but can’t use them to my bare face bc of the octinoxate, only as reapplication over mineral only layers. So I’m excited bc this new product solves both my issues with the previous one.
The new formulation is certainly worth a try. I love the original as it more closely matches my very fair skin much better than either Colorscience or Cerave sun screens, both of which I learned about through your reviews. All of these sunscreens are very good, but DRMTOLIGY wins for color match versatility.
Really? I know you posted your comment months ago but I was wondering about the Physical sunscreen vs. Colorscience. I received DRMTLGY’s Physical Tinted a couple of weeks ago but still haven’t opened it! I am tomorrow! This was super helpful. I love the Universal. I am going to buy the Physical also for winter as it seems more hydrating plus I want to do my own comparison. I wear this as makeup and for me it's the perfect solution of simplicity and blendability without much effort. On the few days I do layer on mineral foundation I use this as a primer, base. Great product at a great price.

A few questions, since you're an ambassador of the brand. 1. Will Drmtlgy disclose the UVA protection measurement? 2. How does this compare with Elta MD UV Physical and Elta MD UV Elements?

I have been using the old tinted formula for well over a year and have liked it. I use it alone as a sunscreen without foundation application. I purchased the new mineral formula and have worn it for three days now. I am 51 years old with fair combination, sensitive skin. I do not like the new formula. It feels greasy and thick on my skin. It transfers onto clothing and cell phone. There is too much glow and the tint is too dark for my skin tone. It did blend well and dried down without streaks but remained glowy all day and re-application felt unpleasantly heavy.
I just ordered 2 of the original formula then I saw DRMTLGY announced the new mineral so I really needed this review. Thanks Abbey for being so timely!! This is the first review of this product I’ve seen posted!
Since I run combination/oily, I use a moisturizing tinted spf first thing in the morning and then use a matte spf like MyChelle or LaRoche Posay matte liquid the rest of the day so I don’t end up super shiny. Excited to try the new Physical DRMTLGY as my first sunscreen of the day! I can’t use the original one bc of the chemical filter.
So helpful! I love seeing these thorough comparisons. And the detail on the finish helps me see if it will work for me :) How does the new drmtlgy one compare to eltamd uv physical lightly tinted?
I'm so happy they changed their packaging. I haven't gotten one of the new bottles yet, but the original packaging with the clear plastic top was very brittle. Because they are so tall they often topple over and my lids kept breaking! Hoping the new ones don't do that. Love the Universal Tinted and non-tinted. Excited to try the physical one!
I was so excited about the Colorscience Flex but it is sold out so I am thinking about purchasing the new DRMTLGY physical sunscreen. Thanks so much for both videos!

Oh Oh Oh!! Lol. I just used the original about 30 minutes ago. I have dry skin AND I’m knee deep in starting Rx Retin-A so my entire face is extra dry and peeling. Surprising to say, my face is a total grease-fest which is super surprising. The Colorscience flex and original bronze is on its way to me. I’ll update how those work on dry, peeling skin. 😂

I actually experienced the same thing with the original tinted sunscreen and I have dry skin. Just tried out the physical tinted sunscreen and my face doesn't look greasy at all! Just a bit of a glow
I knew I could count on you to review/compare this!!! I got the email this morning about their new sunscreen and immediately thought of you! Thanks for always being so helpful!!! 💕💕
Hey Abbey - my colorscience flex medium and bronze came this morning so here’s my update on cs bs drm for mature, dry, retin-a treated skin. I mixed the bronze and flex together because it created a perfect match on my self-tanned arm. The cs is much better for me. Far less greasy and much more color payoff. I won’t need any other sort of foundation type product. Also, I was able to build it up a little on my cheeks where I have a couple of light age/sun spots.
I agree 100% a demi-matte or satin matte finish, and for me, a bit on the cooler side vs. definite leanings to the warm side. I love this sunscreen, but would really like to wear it without foundation, but it's too warm for me, not to mention too glow-ey shiney.
Thank you for the compare! I was expecting the physical sunscreen to be more matte than the tinted moisturizer as well. Do you think the physical sunscreen would have been less shiny if no moisturizer was applied before applying the product? Maybe I missed it, but did you say how long it is water resistant for? I am not seeing it on the DRMTLGY website either.
Hi Abbey, thank you for this wonderful review! Do you know if DRMTLGY uses non-nano zinc or discloses any info about UVA coverage? I can’t seem to find any info on their site, thanks in advance!
I reached out to DRMTLGY. They do contain nano zinc oxide and nano titanium dioxide in all of their sunscreens so this sent me down the rabbit hole of research Because there’s so much miss information and hysteria out there. The jury is still out on the safety. However you don’t want to inhale sunscreens (sprays or powders). What have you found?
Thanks for the review! I love DRMTLGY because of you!😬 the original tinted is one of my favorites! Is the perfect color for me! Idk about this new formulation :( but maybe I will try... 😉 (btw, how do you remove all that sunscreen? 🤔 I used the pharmacy cleansing balm 👌)
I purchased the new version based on Penn Smith recommendation. Initially looks great but after few hours looks cakey and plugged my pores. I wish I could return but didnt keep the box
I also received the physical 44 in PR and even having dry skin I still prefer the universal 46. Especially having facial hair the thicker, pasty texture of the physical is a lot harder to blend in. I’ll save the $5 and continue buying the universal 46, which is my HOLY GRAIL sunscreen.
I've been using the new formula for the past couple of months. Pros: ✨ I don't use foundation anymore, this gives such a beautiful natural coverage, perfect for summer. ✨ I have a combo, sensitive skin, so I was worried about how dewy this is. With some mattifying powder (which I use anyways) it looks great. Glowy from within. ✨ Definitely less breakouts for me compared to chemical or combo sunscreens. Cons: 🚩 The shade is truly not universal. I have a rather fair skin tone, and this looks a shade or two darker than it should especially in contrast with my neck and arms. P.S. I have just reordered the new formula (I am running out already), and the old formula just to see if that would work better in terms of shade.
I actually hadn't even ever heard of DRMTLGY before I found your channel, so I still have not tried any of their products but I will definitely be getting some very soon...thanks to you :)
Thanks for the review! The new sunscreen reminds me of the Elta md uv elements Spf 44. It’s my favourite. Have you tried the revision tinted Spf 45? I like it!
I've tried the original and really like it but the new one seems to cover more imperfections in your skin so I'm going to try the new one. I just won't put quite as much as you did on. It seems like a little goes a long way. Ty!!
I’m not crazy about the shiny glow. I have the original and find that it never really dries down and tends to be sticky. I agree with your comments about a new formulation. I do use Eltamd Elements, which I like. Any other suggestions of others to try ? Love your reviews. Thanks

Hey Abbey, what is your background? You are sooo informative on all things beauty. I love your channel! I was just curious how you came to be such an expert!?? Thanks for helping all of us make the best choices for our unique faces!! 🥰
So the new formula is more of just a tinted sunscreen and less of a tinted moisturizer with the loss of the Niacinamide and other actives? There are times when I would skip any morning moisturizer and just use this tinted moisturizer. As a person with dry skin, I have to admit I will try the new formula, but I am hoping they don't discontinue the old one because it has been my go-to for at least a few years now.
I bought this last week because of your review on it and it gave me a rash on my face and my neck! i am still on the hunt for a sunscreen that won’t do this
I like Drmtlgy sunscreen, but isn't Octinoxate possibly bad for the environment? (I think Hawaii banned it.) I wish they'd eliminate that ingredient. Also totally agree with your review - it's a bit too glossy on my skin. I wish they'd refine that... AND make a less tan-looking color.
Loveeeeed the review!! I have a question tho, does the C E Ferulic made you break out at the beginning? I started using it and I feel that Im breaking out and its the only new product that Im trying
I just got the launch email from DRMTLGY and was going to google the product for reviews, but saw your video first!! Thank you for always having the best timing :)
I knew I could count on you to review this! Thank you!! I just purchased two bottles of the original so I was bummed to see this just come out! I may try it next time since I have dry skin! Kind of looks like the Elta MD?!
I've been using the la Roche posey ultra moisturizer and holy moly it is very very thick and heavy. I don't see how some people say it's light weight it's almost as heavy as the lipikar balm lol. I love it to death but it is definitely a night time ultra heavy greasy occlusive moisturizer.
Hi abbey thanks for your recommendations. I got the physical tinted sunscreen and it is really good . May I ask if you can recommend hand cream with sunscreen and antioxidant ? Thanks
I found the tinted moisturizer 46 clung to the peach fuzz on my face. Do you think the new physical one will cling to peach fuzz on the face? Thank you so much for your reviews! Keep them coming! 😊
I JUST started using the Universal (combo) this past week; I had ordered 2 bottles after watching your video comparing it to the Elta MD. Kind of a bummer for me, as I have dry skin and I feel like the Universal is drying me out by the end of the day. When I finally use these up, I will have to try the new one (or something less drying and lighter in tone).
I showed DRMTLGY’s original tinted moisturizer vs elta MD UV clear in my last skincare dupes video! This new one from DRMTLGY is lighter weight than EltaMD UV physical & just feels nicer overall in my opinion, but is shinier. & it is definitely shiner than UV Elements, but less orange
@Abc Def nope still waiting. Sounds like the formula can work for me, but don't want to have to return it like I have with all others. Wish there were color choices. Universal is like saying one size fits all. 🙄
Hi Abbey ❤, Looking gorgeous here 😍and your nail polish is so nice 😊. I have combo skin and watching this review really helpful to choose. From this new formulation from Dermatology to the Colour Science new formulation. How do you think these would compare? Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend 💕!
Is there a reason you applied (the LRP) moisturizer before applying the products side by side? Curious because they’re supposed to be moisturizers. I’d just as soon buy a tinted sunscreen to use over my usual moisturizer if they’re not moisturizing enough that they require using an additional moisturizer. Thx for clarifying! Hope to hear from you!
I'm on day 1 of the new formulation and it's working fine so far with no irritation. Interestingly, I went through a whole bottle of the original last winter (in the old packaging) with no problem. I got another one at the same time I ordered the new one, and the old now is irritating the heck out of my skin. I wonder if they changed the formula when they changed packaging?? Frustrating because I really liked how the old one was so lightweight and looked great under makeup.
I ordered the clear combo one. Hope it doesn’t irritate my skin😖😖why are you wearing a moisturizer before apply the tinted moisturizer? They say on their site, not to apply around the eyes.
I have oily skin too and love the original formula on days where I’m good with a bit of a dew. Super nice formula. Loooove their non-tinted one and use it every morning, then I put whatever other tinted sunscreen I’m feeling that day on 15 mins later.
Looks like the price ended up being $28 not the $27 I was told! Hm… Will you buy?
Loved the review. I am not sure if I missed you mentionening this but Is it a Nano zinc?

it is my pleasure to meet you here currently and I wish you the best in any ramifications. If you don't mind please add me up on my personal Gmail hangouts so that we can be able to contact each other effectively.princehamdanfazza19829@gmail.com
Oh Oh Oh!!

PLEASE try the altruist tinted sunscreen! Super affordable and I’ve heard great things
Colorscience, though a great sunscreen, turns my fair skin orange 😳
You should be able to still return it. Give it a try
Pros:
✨ I don't use foundation anymore, this gives such a beautiful natural coverage, perfect for summer.
✨ I have a combo, sensitive skin, so I was worried about how dewy this is. With some mattifying powder (which I use anyways) it looks great. Glowy from within.
✨ Definitely less breakouts for me compared to chemical or combo sunscreens.
Cons:
🚩 The shade is truly not universal. I have a rather fair skin tone, and this looks a shade or two darker than it should especially in contrast with my neck and arms.
P.S. I have just reordered the new formula (I am running out already), and the old formula just to see if that would work better in terms of shade.
Love your video and review of this product! You are so pretty even without make up and have such great skin!!!!
I actually hadn't even ever heard of DRMTLGY before I found your channel, so I still have not tried any of their products but I will definitely be getting some very soon...thanks to you :)
I got all 3 of them to try on. And its on sale! Thank you!
Thanks for the review! The new sunscreen reminds me of the Elta md uv elements Spf 44. It’s my favourite. Have you tried the revision tinted Spf 45? I like it!
Thank you for the side by side comparison. You posted great information.
I've tried the original and really like it but the new one seems to cover more imperfections in your skin so I'm going to try the new one. I just won't put quite as much as you did on. It seems like a little goes a long way. Ty!!
I picked up both!! The price is wayyy better than the color science but I still want to try that one as well!!
I’m not crazy about the shiny glow. I have the original and find that it never really dries down and tends to be sticky. I agree with your comments about a new formulation. I do use Eltamd Elements, which I like.
Any other suggestions of others to try ? Love your reviews. Thanks
I have dry skin and both of these sunscreens leave a super shiny and tacky feel that stays all day long.
Same here, I was so excited to try it, I don't know how people deal with that sticky/tacky feeling all day.
Yes!!! I just tagged you in the Instagram post! So glad we don't have to wait!! Thank you 😁 The original tinted is WAY too orange for me.

Hey Abbey, what is your background? You are sooo informative on all things beauty. I love your channel! I was just curious how you came to be such an expert!?? Thanks for helping all of us make the best choices for our unique faces!! 🥰
Thank you from Israel 🇮🇱
I was just about to order from the website and didn't know what is the deference... So thanks for the very useful video.
I love these comparison video's-they are so helpful! Thank You!💛
Thank you, great video
Sticking with the original after seeing your side by side shots 😉
Staying with original also😊
I bought this last week because of your review on it and it gave me a rash on my face and my neck! i am still on the hunt for a sunscreen that won’t do this
Hi Abbey! Thank you so much for this review. Could you also review the newly released Avene Solaire UV Mineral Multi-Defense Sunscreen SPF 50+?
This new formulation DESTROYED my face. Like. DESTROYED. For the love of ALL that is holy, PATCH TEST THIS!!!!
The most amazing sunscreen reviews
I see you spread this all over your eyelids with zero reaction. Wish I could do this with Drmtlgy sunscreens. They burn my eyelids like crazy!!🙁
I use mineral only for my eyes and whatever else for the rest of the areas.
Since this one is mineral only it should probably not sting. Their others are combination.
I agree, I would like to see darker shade options. I have the physical. I feel it's better for summer use bc coverage isn't great on my skintone.
Thank you for this video. It answered all of my questions. Why do tinted sunscreens always lean orange??!
The physical one is so greasy and heavy; I'm going back to the Universal one.
Excellent review. Definitely discovered & tried this brand because of your videos.
When they say to "reapply", I've always assumed you clean off your face before re-applying. So that's always an option rather than keep layering.
Loveeeeed the review!! I have a question tho, does the C E Ferulic made you break out at the beginning? I started using it and I feel that Im breaking out and its the only new product that Im trying
It’s so typical to break out from vitamin c serums. Same with me! All vitamin c serums break me out. 😤
Just bought this, thanks for the review!! 💞
I just got the launch email from DRMTLGY and was going to google the product for reviews, but saw your video first!! Thank you for always having the best timing :)
😊♥️
I much prefer the original Colorescience on you. It has the best color for your skintone. Both of these are too orange. Thanks for these reviews
I knew I could count on you to review this! Thank you!! I just purchased two bottles of the original so I was bummed to see this just come out! I may try it next time since I have dry skin! Kind of looks like the Elta MD?!
Just picked up both at their cyber monday sale !
Thanks
Excellent comparison! Excellent video all the way around!!!!
I found the tinted moisturizer 46 clung to the peach fuzz on my face. Do you think the new physical one will cling to peach fuzz on the face? Thank you so much for your reviews! Keep them coming! 😊
Shave your face lol
Can you specify which is the new and original formula. It’s hard for me to follow which one you’re referring to when you don’t refer to them by name.
I JUST started using the Universal (combo) this past week; I had ordered 2 bottles after watching your video comparing it to the Elta MD. Kind of a bummer for me, as I have dry skin and I feel like the Universal is drying me out by the end of the day. When I finally use these up, I will have to try the new one (or something less drying and lighter in tone).
thank you for the review I actually order all 3 to try .
Thank you for doing the test and reviewing these for us! ❤️
Hi thank you for the review. Could you tell me if there is a sunscreen smell to these?
Not sure if I missed it in the video.... but do these sunscreen's work well under makeup?
Thank you for this review!! I was wondering if you could show how you reapply sunscreen over makeup/blush?
Thanks!! ❤
I wonder how similar this is to the Elta MD mineral tinted sunscreens.
I personally like drmtlgy's sunscreen more than elta MD's because it blended in so well. Elta MD's sunscreen pills way too much on my skin.
Is the color lighter than the elta md tinted sunscreens. I tried clear tinted, elements tinted and daily uv tinted. All to dark or orange on me.
Their non-tinted is my favorite!!
Hi! You are my self tan reference, and my sunscreen encyclopedia!! Thanks!!
Thanks Abbey. The Drmtlgy sunscreen also makes me look dewy, dont like it that much so guess I'll be passing on that new one
Do you have any tips of tinted sunscreens rubbing off on face masks ?
I feel like I saw Beauty Within and Chemist Confessions talk about that in a recent video.
I am going to try the new one next. I just opened the original and have a back up of that but am very interested in the mineral sunscreen.
Abbey do a quick video today on prime day sales!!!
