    I thought the oil drained pretty quickly back into the sump when hot. I have a pela pump and will do this next few weeks for my oil change. Clean car!

      yeah i try my best to not make a mess these days and I said when it came to this car I had to do things different to avoid the hot oil from the oil tank getting all over me and the detailed chassis. worked perfectly.

    This is great! Doing mine this weekend. Do you just leave the plug for the oil tank in and never remove it? I also stole your idea for wooden blocks to raise the back end. Its been a while since you posted this video but it is still very helpful!

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 месяца назад

      If you suck all oil out from the tank you don’t need to remove the drain plug on the tank it saves so much time and mess doing it my way.

    I’m OCD like you with the little details. One trick I’ve been doing is adding a bit of oil to the fill port to flush a bit more oil out before I put the drain plug back in.

  • @ProjectFairmont

    Very Nice. I was advised not to thread the oil tank cap. Oil level is verified by seating the cap prior to threading.

    We all know modern Ferrari's are much faster, but the experience from the gated shifter, the engine sound, rev swings.....much more enjoyable than the modern ones.
    Reminds me of when two GT3RS owners swap cars for test drives. The 997 GT3RS literally owner looked bored while driving the buddy's 991.2 GT3RS. Even through the camera, one can feel the less dampened road noise and engine sound coming through via the 997 vs the 991, and manual gear box made the ordinary drive lively.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  3 года назад

      yes plus the fun is you can actually work on these older cars where as the new cars you need crazy expensive diganostics to even do basic stuff. The 997 GT3 and GT3RS are my absolute favorite modern Porsche cars right being the nostalgic feeling 993 cars.

    Great vid! It looked like you had overfilled it, which isn't good. The car looks amazing, inside and out. It makes me miss mine a bit. It was also a 95 with the challenge grill and Capristo exhaust.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 года назад

      Thanks! 👍 yeah the oil level gets tricky on these cars but was perfect when settled. Check my IG feed for more F355 video content and detail work ive done to the car it is simply outstanding. I also have a full Capristo exhaust with Tubi headers it sounds wicked I have a video on this channel of exhaust clips of my old exhaust which was a Nouvalari SS and it sounded F1 loud I loved it but the locals complained about the noise.

      @@autofanaticcars Yeah, it's an awesome sound to us but I can see why it could annoy some people... My story: After 4 mostly great years of ownership, I got a great offer from someone who had seen my car at my mechanic's place. The car had been giving me headaches with constant oil leaks (I think of the four years I had it, there was maybe one where I didn't notice fresh oil on my garage floor). Then the alternator was flashing the red battery CEL sporadically. My mechanic didn't see anything wrong with it but the problem persisted so I had to find a used one to put in. (Finding good used parts for these cars is getting harder and harder, never mind finding new ones. I once spent 2 months waiting to replace the ABS pump, which was leaking. My mechanic ended up adapting a used one from a 90's Jaguar.) Finally, the right stock manifold started leaking as expected in all these cars. That's when I decided it was time to pass this along to the next owner (with full disclosure). He had to pay over $5K to get Tubi headers shipped from Italy and waited over a month for them. I know because I kept the car for him while the headers arrived. So... I basically grew disenchanted with the car -- my 1st dream Ferrari. And I decided to put the sale proceeds toward my 2nd dream Ferrari: a red 458 Italia, which I absolutely love! That's my story, keep up the great work.

      @autofanaticcars  3 года назад +1

      the rear diffusers were expertly restored to perfection by ME and are resting on my toolbox for later installation as they are very fragile to handle on and off. After the wheel alignment is complete then a brand new clutch assembly and further surface detailing to the bell housing cover and installing the newly acquired NOS cltch hard line, block and bleed nipple to round out the detailing. Check my Instagram for short videos on these newly acquired parts.
