I’m with you on trusting dealers. I’ve dealt with service advisors who know little about cars, they are “computer clerks”. I have had a Ford service advisor almost refuse to specify the requested 5W-30 rather than the Ford recommended 5W-20. I’m now in a good situation, as I have become a personal friend of “my” service advisor at the local Ford dealer. His is also a “car guy”. They let me go into the shop and talk to the technician. So far so good. I’m comfortable using Motorcraft full synthetic 5W-30, every 5,000 miles. S550 GT has 65,000 miles, burns no oil. One reason I use the dealer is I have an extended Ford warranty, 8 years & 100,000 miles. Side note, local dealer had a $5,000 “Addendum” on all new Mustangs a couple months ago - Today, $2,500 dealer markdown on all Mustangs - I’ve heard of dealers give $5,000 off list! Times have changed! Good luck with the Camaro. 🤠
I don't trust the dealership either! Brought my Jeep in for an issue with the wheel, they gave it back to me with painters tape holding up the driver's side window! The said the window regulator was broken.... but it wasnt when I dropped it off hours prior. Also I like doing my own work and pouring the oil if that sounds strange lol... I get a sense of accomplishment! Good upload as always thanks.
Friend took his new M3 for a tire swap at local BMW dealer yesterday and they used shop brooms and their automatic car wash with brushes to destroy his paint. Dealership can be frustrating
Would love to see an old school wash and talk on this vehicle like the red GT350 "How to Wash Your Car in Winter The Right Way." Getting close to 100k, congrats!
I filmed the winter wash video already but since it’s so cold my window to get it done is narrow so it’s a condensed version I can’t be outside for an hours but the video goes live Friday night
Why would you set your oil filter, gasket side down, on the pavement where it could pick up debris? Not trying to be a smart a$$, but my car care OCD just kicked in. Anyway, great video and awesome ride!! Keep up the good work.
That's a serious jack. and a sweet car. Regarding the Amsoil oil filters do they have the same GM recommended 22-30 psi rating (as the Delco filter, 22psi) the bypass valve?
I too have never brought my car to a dealership. I am the only person to change the oil on my GT350. After seven oil changes I’ve gotten pretty efficient, but not nearly close to the ease of changing the oil on your Camaro. Thankfully, I only have to do it once a year.
Did you ever watch my Oil Change From Hell video on my red GT350? That was no joke a disaster because i had a Ford dealership do it because it was winter and they seized oil filter to car too hours to fix.
Agreed it is a lot easier to change your oil than in the 550 GT platform. Ford finally got the message from owners that the plastic pan sucks and the new 2024 Mustang has a steel pan and steel pan plug. One thing that flex funnel you are using is an accident about to happen. A standard straight funnel will serve you well.
Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra Platinum will not burn oil, all the same. They are also cheaper and easier to find than Amsoil, no salesmen or expensive memberships/shipping to pay for too.
Alfa , Ferrari and MOPAR recommend that Penzoil and every car has burned with that oil for myself and customers we just do not use it anymore. It also depends on how the cars are being used but the AMSOIL is proven itself for so many years on my cars I just stick with what works and I am comfortable with and the price is pretty much the same and I have a local distributor for AMSOIL that drops off what we need at the shop same day so it works out great
My buddy swears by Amsoil in fact that’s what’s the ISF has in it however, it doesn’t state if it’s a GF6 oil, I would assume it is I’m thinking running it or Pennzoil ultra platinum since I’m only gonna drive it to work on Fridays and sometimes on the weekends I’m just gonna change it once a year it takes 10 quarts!
Wow definitely jealous my GT350 is a nightmare to change ugh there is no easy way and no way to not coat your steering rack with spent oil it just is what it is lol
I am still floored you were able to bag a 24' ZL1/1LE when every collector is grabbing them at every turn. Hemmings and Hagerty already designated the ZL1/1LE as a future classic. Did you know that this car has lightweight rear glass to save weight? The back seats are also made from low density foam to save weight. It also brings more sound into the cabin. This was GM doing their version of an E46 CSL. On another note - You should seriously consider a catback exhaust like Corsa (with valves). The stock exhaust is too quiet.
These cars are extremely hard to find over the last 2 years. Few of the collectors edition being sold at auctions lately but not 1 LE. I also feel GM on this model should have deleted the rear seat all together like the GT350R it is so useless back there for any adult to sit and also to save weight. the GT350R is about 200lbs lighter give or take. Did not know they bothered with the glass but the could have used more aluminum on the car to strip out more weight to make it at least 3600lbs. I will do a comprehensive review video soon on the 1LE and offer my thoughts and comparisons to the GT350 since I had 3 of those already since 2017.
@@autofanaticcars The rear seat helps for insurance reasons. In addition as a father to 2 young children - those back seats were tremendous in carting them for different post school activities, cars and coffee etc. I am also a track junkie. I can carry an entire set of track wheels to/from track with room to spare for jack and toolbox. Once you remove the back rest (very easy to do), I can stack 3 tires (2 R, 1 F) and 1 R tire in the trunk. Go figure. Amazing! The ZL1/1LE with backseats is flat out amazing with for people with young kids. It becomes a part of your life, unlike other 2 seaters - you don't have to rotate your life around it!
great info to know regarding storage because the trunk opening is quite small compared to the Mustang and i was curious how useful it would be. are you loading your wheels and tires from the interior of the car or trunk opening?
@@autofanaticcars I simply tilt and power the front seats forward and then load up 3 tires from either side. You will be surprised that you can actually load a 305 section tire/wheel through the trunk opening. Just slide it in verticaly and slide it in horizontally. We ZLE owners do it all the time. No need to trailer to the track.
Just an observation...You did not clean the sealing surface on the engine block filter housing. Did not let all the oil drain from the filter housing. Did not oil the seal on the filter. Set the new filter on the seal side on the driveway. If you're going to show an oil change, please remember some DYI viewers will watch this and not realize how NOT to change oil and filter. Please just film reviews and NOT DYI projects.
You obviously have nothing better to do today but video was cut and edited to be short. I purposely didn’t show everything to condense video Why don’t you go ahead and make your own drawn out video showing how you wipe and clean up which is irrelevant. you internet trolls love to spew drama.
No drama here . I'm not an internet troll. I am not a keyboard warrior. I'm 72 years old and just pointing out a lot of young ppl might see this video and treat it as a DYI and not realize the proper manner to change oil and filter. Your audience is not my age group but i feel you should be just a bit more responsible in this area. Again, stick to reviews and let others do the oil change videos, long and drawn out, but responsible. Thank you. @@autofanaticcars
Never asked but im stoked with this camaro serie
youll like the winter wash video i made on this car, goes live Friday
I do all my oil changes, turn the radio on and take my time, great video sir 👍😁

Best way to get to know your car is to get underneath and do your own oil changes! Forces you to see any leaks, measure oil consumption, ect,👍👍
Exactly

It was 17f outside when I filmed and did this, no debris found it’s way inside 🥶

Using Pennzoil ultra platinum in 2014 CTS Vsport and certainly still burns oil, about 1 quart/2k miles.
You always get the best cars ...the same ones i look at......love my 350R its too hard to let go .....did you sell the benz ?
Still have the AMG and all others
such a beautiful collection of amazing cars

you should put amsoil in the amg gtr engine/transaxel and make a vid
I actually did back in June but didn’t video that. Not many DIY AMG owners out there looking for that content
