Wow! fantastic video Phil. It's just crazy that Alfa puts a filter that needs replacing so out of reach for the average DIY'er. It's like they set these cars up so that even if you are a little mechanically inclined like I am, it's such a pain in the a$$ of an undertaking, I would just take it to the dealer so I can avoid the headache! Of course that's why they do it. UGH

Totally agree they force owners to dealership then inexperienced techs break stuff and it becomes a love affair with the service department on purpose

I can’t imagine what the dealer charges to do this. Nice work 👍

I hope someone posts in the comments what a dealership charged them. Its such s ridiculous amount of work for something that should be simple

@@autofanaticcars Miller Motorsports in Greenwhich, CT quoted me $160 for the cabin air filter, which seems pretty low. An independent Alfa mechanic in Long Island quoted me $400. Prices seem to fluctuate massively depending who you call for a quote. (This is for a 2020 Giulia)

Hiya!! I just discovered this brand this week and I've fallen in love with the guila, it looks amazing and the reviews I have seen make me want buy one like now, I've been looking for a new (used) car for a little while now and wanted to know if there's any tips you can give me about them.

This is so overly complicated for a cabin air filter lol, why did they design it like this.

I completely agree total pita job for something simple

With the Stelvio and other cars, I have discovered that replacing the cabin air filters is ridiculously difficult. There should be a law against this kind of nonsense. Also, car reviewers should include in their reviews how easy it is to maintain a vehicle, e.g., replacing bulbs, filling up washer fluid, etc. Filling up the washer fluid in any car is messy nonsense. Car designers should be ashamed, and so should the car manufacturers.

I agree this job is a PITA but it must get done

They told me $265 for the cabin and engine filter. I've done them myself in my previous vehicles, but I see why they upcharge the labor for THIS filter location.

One time after I had a “free” oil change at VW I fell in the trap when they told me that I needed a cabin and air filter. They charged me $250. I didn’t know much about cars at that time. Cuz of that, cars is all that I consume now.

This shows how impractical italian designers are. Why would one still buy an italian designed car??? To show that your car is a one of a kind, does not mean designing it in such a way that it makes one think that every bloody thing is super complicated.

RUclips definitively needs more alfa videos! Thanks to another guy who posted we were able to maintenance the car ourselves. Your video is definitely needed. We changed the filter about a month ago and still smells funky. We bought a evaporator foam cleaner hopefully that works. Your video will come in so handy in the future since the other video is not as detailed

Good video, my ‘18 had a condensate tube in the way that had to be yanked out. Installing the new filter was challenging as you almost need both hands in there to get it done. I couldn’t tell if the filter was going in all the way or getting bound up half way in. It’s in there so I left it as is. I expect this would be much easier if you had a lift and you are younger than I am. Reaching in while standing has to be easier than laying on your back or on your knees on the garage floor. Dealer can probably get it done in 20 min. Took me an hour+. Thanks for making this. At 55k miles, I love my 18 Stelvio TI Sport!!

I had the same musty smell in a new mazda I had in the first 6 months of ownership. Tried the lysol trick and it didnt work. Eventually I did the aerosol demister where you put it in car for 15 mins while its running with AC on max and was able to get rid of the smell.

Thank you for this videos. Saved me a trip to the dealer and maybe a few hundred dollars. It took my buddy and I over an hour. Though maybe next time we can bring down to 30. Thanks again.

There are arrows on the filter, the arrows need to be on top facing you.
