⭐About the Rating:
At the end of the video, I thought that it would be a nice idea to have a rating for the products that I test. So, based on the general 5 star rating used all over, I made my rating to better suit my personality. The rating is based on my testing and my opinion of a specific product. It takes into consideration many factors like performance, reliability, availability and many other aspects which are essential to a consumer. Of course, some of these factors may not be applicable to other regions or demographics. As price is another factor in this rating, a product may be cheaper in other regions, rendering my rating as inadequate. In this case, you should reconsider if the product is suitable for you or not.
🛠 About the Tests:
It's important to understand that the tests were performed under the same conditions as before with no other variables added. However, as much as I try, some slight variations may be present. Each test was performed 3 times. In each test, the maximum reading was recorded and the final result presented was the average value between these 3 readings. The instruments used in this video are not calibrated according to international quality standards. Because of this, the results from these tests can not be considered official and only serve as comparative observations and entertainment.
⚙ The dust test - In order to establish the dust separation performance of these filters, in the first test I used 2.2 grams of cement powder. The powder was scattered evenly on the filter with the help of a fan positioned on top of the filters.
⚙ The smoke test - Here I burned an exact quantity of paper (10 square mm) using the heat produced by a light bulb. The smoke was captured in a plastic box and once the piece of paper stopped producing smoke, a fan started below the filter, which pulled all the smoke through the filter.
⚙ The V.O.C. test - Four drops of acetone was used in this test, placed on a cotton pad sitting 2.5 cm from the filter.
⚙ The gas exhaust test - My motorcycle was positioned 1.5m from the filters and it was turned on for 10 seconds. The engine was warm and the RMP was stable for each test. It's a 1000ccm Suzuki V-Strom from 2002. I'm not sure what emission class it has, but if you do, let me know.
⚙ The diesel exhaust test - The car used in this test was a Skoda Roomster with a 1.4 TDI engine. The exhaust duct was positioned 1.5m form the filters. The engine was warm and the test ran for 10 seconds.

The purpose of the stange balls in the Mahle filter revealed : the balls dispers the flow of the air in manny directions inside the filter itself , thus keeping the air inside the filter as much as possible and evening it's distribution inside the filtering surface . The more the air stays in the filter the greater are the chances to catch particles. That technology is also used in fluids filtering .
Great video and kudos for the effort put in to it ! keep it up Sergiu !
Good to know I was thinking it grabbed more fine dust 😆.
For me, as a romanian, this guy is marvelous, top 1 youtuber for me right now! I can finally decide what filters and oils and i'm having fun while watching ! Bafta si succes!
I like him from Hungary too. He has a good sense of humour, and makes really useful tests.
You should be a stand up comedian. Great sense of humor. If any further tests occur please add the ridex budget brand. Very curious how they perform. As to the bacteria, throw your rotten egg mixture on the filters, let them dry to open air, and compare results after 2 months😂 explicitly note the test should be performed in a kitchen for maximum result 🙈
I'll be living in my garage for the next few months if I do it in the kitchen 😂
Even your comment shows, how different we are. In my opinion, his comedy is a bit forced, cringe, and he should not do that. It literally makes me feel uncomfortable. He is making some very good videos, but humor is not his strong side. But we see things differently, no problem with that.
I finally know why I'm single, it was the damn bosch filter all along!
😂😂😂
"Don't mind the fishy smell "
After several years of wirking in automotive industries I have some conclusions for aftermarket parts.
Bosch doesn't produce the filter. It's made mostly by WIX-Filtron (now MANN+HUMMEL) plant in Gostyń (Poland), Robert Bosch GMBH is only packaging them and singning their brand, the same situation with lightbulbs (I don;t know as for now, bot earlier made by Philips) and timing belts (GATES - mostly made in Legnica Poland, even my brother was working in this plant), brake pads (LPR - Italy) etc.
But going back to MANN+HUMMEL FT it's producing filters for OEM (Original Equipment), OES (Original Spare Parts) and aftermarket in their own brands: Filtron, WIX, MANN and for other companies such as: BOSCH, Starline etc. in many of their plants in Poland and EU countries.
Hengst is also manufactoring in several plants in Poland, Czechia (Liberec) and obviously Germany
If You want more research about aftermarket brands origins I can help You.
Similar story about Valeo filters. Most of them are manufactured by Filtron or Misfat, but cabin filters are manufactured by themselves. Although, still overpriced.
Tell us about FEBI bilstein / MAHLE original / KNECHT
Do you know something about Master Sport, i bought a cabin filter with active carbon, and appear to be very similar with mann, but the price is half, generally, i bought cheap cabin filter, because i chenge them at 6 months.
What about Purflux filters? 🤔🙂
So considering what you wrote, would you say that Flitron cabin filters are similar quality to Mann? Im asking cause Filtron filters with Protect+ technology (similar to Frecious Plus from Mann) are cheaper than some ordinary carbon filters from other manufacturers.
Overall excellent work. Rarely you can find this level of determination on youtube. I would just suggest that it might be better if you did rotten egg test outside. Since the smell had already filled the room once you opened the jar, and the filter doesn't help much. It might be different on a windy day outside. Anyhow, thanks for doing this, it was very well done :)
Thanks for your appreciation! I forgot to mention that the the rotten egg tests were performed 2 hours apart. That way, my nose came back online 😂 and the smell in the garage went away.
That's some quality content right there! Congrats and thank you for the hard work you're putting into these videos, your flow and quality is improving with every release. Keep it up!
Another exceptional video! I was lucky to find this Mann filter at a great price, cheaper than the basic filter, but I didn't knew how it would perform and how does it compare with other filters because there arent any other videos like this online. This is the kind of video that really helps people. Keep up the good work!
Your channel has a lot of information I was looking for for a long time, and presented in a pleasant and well structured fashion, I found a gem :D
Keep up the good work!
This is huge quality content. Keep it up! 🙏🏼. Greetings from Argentina!
I see Gabor but I don't run, I give like.
Thank you for this video! Really liked the comparison and was really intrigued by the results. Can`t wait for the next!
Thanks man, your videos deserve a lot more views. I had a cheap FILTRON "charcoal filter", now replaced it with the MANN premium filter, it definitely makes a difference - I notice the usual smells are gone - like when using windscreen washers, exaust smells from car in front etc. Next one I'll buy will be Mahle, as it seems to perform even better.
Thanks for the great content! Another aspect is how much air can pass through the filters. Some filters have excellent filtration properties, but cut down dramatically on air throughput, which can make your vents for A/C, heat and fan deliver far less CFM. For this reason, I'd say the Hengst takes the lead, or maybe ties for the lead, depending on your priorities. In a very polluted city or on super dusty country roads, of if you have bad allergies, you might prioritize filtration at all costs. If you live some place that gets very cold, or very hot, you might want that extra air throughput. Aloha!
So useful! Love the empirical results. Thank you Sergiu!
I never thought I'll watch a 21 minute long video about pollen filters... but honestly I didn't regret. :D Thanks for the helpful informations! I subbed and looking for your upcoming videos! ^^
Another detailed review, grate work Sergiu, keep it up.

Great job! I love the egg test :D
Ești cel mai tare omule pentru toate testele și cu uleiurile și filtrele, Felicitari!!
Looking forward for an comeback of this test with more manufacturers as Purflux especially :) those series are quite interesting. As well some summer windscreen fluid tests would be great to view and revisioned winter windscreen fluid tests too. Great job, as always :)
Purflux filters are grate for the price ✌️, 5€ a standard cabin filter, 3.5€ an oil filter...
Super work!! Thank you!!
Thanks man keep going up your best great job respect 💯
Sergiu wherever you are this was so much fun to watch. All your reviews are. Come back man.
Great test. You deserve more subscribers.
Very useful videos !!! Good job !!! Good luck and I'm waiting for new ones. Greetings from Bulgaria 😁
Amazing content!
My 2 cents:
Antimicrobial layer is the finest layer in order to filter out the bacteria..
Therefore, I consider placing it the last, in order to prefiler larger particles, is the best for the filter longevity
Growing in or on the filter, is the same for me
The reason why the antibacterial coating is on different sides is because he didn't pay attention to the fact that there are filters for left and right-hand drive. Be careful when ordering parts online.
Maybe it’s so that the bacteria doesn’t grow from the evaporator as they often house bacteria and mould..
Nice content no bullshit, good data, good humor. I'm your new subscriber, keep making a good content
Very nice Video❤ thanks for your professionality
Love your videos! Thank you👍
Thank you for your work! 🙏
Thanks buddy, with your review I bought the Mahle Caremetix.
Valuable content. Thanks.
Best automotive Chanel on You Tube, thanks for video!
😂😂😂 love the humour, all the best for the future
great test. I congratulate you on the idea of conducting a meaningful test. Greetings from Poland.
Good video but I'd have been interested to know the flow rate through the filters. (Will a better filter restrict air flow).
When I replaced my cabin filter I swapped out the cheap non-carbon Valio filter for a Bosch carbon filter & it seemed to be a lot more restrictive.
Well done. Good job thanks!
in DE, Hengst is considered to be a top quality filter. Nice test, thorough comparison as always. Good job :)
A perfect video, it have everything, informations, tech and a good sens of humour! Dumnezo :)))
this is great :) :) thank you! I stopped my research at your video, and will go with your recommendations :)
Your knowledge about this issue equals your sense of humor.....excellent! Best regards from Greece
You are improving. Keep it up.
Oh man, this video came right on spot! I am planning for the near future to change car consumables .
Thanks to your videos/tests , I know what is the best for my car, many thanks for that . :D
I hope that you will test also fuel and air filters :D .
Keep cool ! :)
Just ordered some laboratory equipment necessary for testing fuel filters 😂
This sounds really expensive :D
Bravo felicitari! Profi ca un vero-inginer !
Great video, thanks.
6:15 That is the filter that I bought. It was hard to install compared to the basic filters. It is much more rigid.
I subscribed today. Excellent Channel.
Damn! I need to join patreon. I just changed the cabin air filters for my Honda and my wife's Mercedes 2 weeks ago! I bought the MAHLE for the Mercedes 🤘 and the Mann for the Honda.
Tha Mann one is very thick and it was hard to fit on the filter box slits. I was nos really comfortable with the way it was fitted. The MAHLE although thick too was much easier. This could be due to the manufacturer design but it also shows that at least for Honda, Mann could have tested it better.
Anyway, great video as always! You really should keep going! Regards from Portugal.
Great content, and humor too. I subscribe the channel right away.
Filtre de motorina, asteptam :D
The small balls in the middle of the filter are humidity absorber media, used in desiccant cartridge filters in commercial vehicles air systems. They are used to dry the compressed air used in the braking/suspension systems to not damage/freeze the electronic/moving parts of the systems.
Thank you. I was looking for this information in comments :-)
Finally. A well thoughtout test for air filters. Not sure if I will find those filters in the USA, but at least I have a valid source of information. Thanks for doing such a great job on this video. Great sense of humor as well.
You can find most of these brands on rock auto.
Thank you! Good Job!👍
Really a good job
Thank you
Great stuff, I was going to buy Bosch Filter+, but I will go now with Mahle! :)
foarte tare !
bravo !
Multumim.
very very nice and helpful; thank you!!
I love your channel. Greetings from MK.
I've tested activated carbon filters from Filtron, Meyle, Purflux and Mahle. And on my opinion (and my nose) the Mahle is the best of them. It provides the best airflow and absorbs the most types of unwanted fumes.
Salut,
Mersi mult pentru teste. M-ai convins si abia asteptam sa imi schimb filtrul de polen asa ca am mers pe LAO 181. Sa vedem cum se comporta in viata reala :)
Spor in toate, subbed!
thanks for this review
Hello Sergio, I am admiring your videos, because most of them are pretty loaded of nice laboratory work, which I expected in some of university or special lab. But UR in garage of yours, don’t you? Screenplay is also well crafted👍Nice job
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! Please test the K and N cabin air filter... Curious to see how it would do..
need to compare PURFLUX AHA378 with MAHLE LAO181 now, i'm intrigued. Great work as always. and great channel
Thanks for the great video, I have subscribed to your channel
I love you soo much! Good job
i searched the maket today for an audi A4 b9 filter (CVNA) and the Audi price was 94 euros. From the aftermarket options i found only the Bosch option for 32 euros. I would definitely love to see a comparison series between genuine and aftermarket parts. Other than that i was a bit dissapointed for not finding hengst or mahle but on the other side, been living in Athens GR and walking everywhere for the most, the dust particle retention for driving for 10 mins should probably be less worrying. thanks for the video!
Great work.
I came here for answers and left happier. Great channel! Sub’d
Salut Sergiu!Astept o astfel de comparatie, daca se poate face si pe filtrele de ulei.Respect!
As an Engineer myself, solid review!! Super helpful…and I lol’ed a few times as well.
the only Gabor i dont run from
Where have you been all my life? Godly good!:D
Good job!
Great job! Can you please "cheap" pollenfilter testing? Like Sct, Kamoka, vemo, Magneti Mareli, Mapco and Co.
Mulțumim pentru video! Așteptam și varianta cu filtrele de aer.
Wow! Ati facut un lucru mai bun si acurat
Bravo
Wow! Just as i was about to get a new Airfilter
Awesome content! Could you test engine air filters, please?
Thanks a lot Gabor for the video.
What is your advice and opinion as Auto Quality Engineer, how often is needed to change the pollen filter ?
Based on your earlier video, I bought the Bosch. I was between that and the Mahle, but the Bosch was cheaper so I went for it. I was really impressed by the quality, though I'm used to the normal ones. It was the first time I had one of those premium filters.
does it restrict your air flow? In other words, do you feel less cooling from your airconditioning?
