    Nancy Wilson is my favorite female guitarist of all time. She plays so intricately and smoothly, and you can feel her love for her craft in every note.

      she especially kills it in this performance, same with the lead guitarist (assume he's lead)
      any time a musician is spontaneously throwing rando leg kicks and other impromptu moves because they're so into the guitar they're playing... you know they're a legit artist

      I went to an Asia/Lou Gramm concert just before the march 2020 covid lockdown. At 70, Lou Gramm was nearly as good as his heyday.
      It was my sons 1st concert and he was already a Foreigner fan, but he was blown away by Lou Gramm and his insane voice. If you never heard Lou sing with the originals, listen to his early work. By the way, He was a drummer. Haha

    Anne’s vocals are some of the highest, most aggressive in rock. The raw power and comfort to hit those notes was a feat in the 70’s, let alone 40 YEARS LATER. Seriously. Not one bit of cheating, not letting the crowd sing, not lowering the song, she has always had IT. Almost seems impossible to sing these songs at this level for so long.

      Ann Wilson has a better voice, more range and power than Janice Joplin had. Cass Elliot had as much range, but not the intensity. Grace Slick had the power, but the range. And let us not forget Miss Linda Ronstadt, and Christie McVie (the "heart" of Fleetwood Mac) and Joan Jett and Bonnie Riatt (who sings more blues and Americana than rock). Guess I have dated myself and listed my favorite female rock and blues female singer. Nancy Wilson has beautiful voice and lots of heart and power, and is right up there with Joan Jett and Bonnie Riatt in the top 20 of female guitar players. Each of these beautiful ladies does what they do well. We are blessed to be alive while they did and are doing what they do. RIP Janice and Cass. To all of the rest of you, "Rock on ladies". The world is a better place because of all of you. A special shout out to Linda Ronstadt: You are missed. Parkinson's is a cruel disease.

    Nancy Wilson is an awesome guitarist. I've seen her perform the opening guitar riff countless times. She never does it the same way twice. She does something interesting at the end of the first part of the riff, before she transitions to the second part, and before Ann takes over with vocals. She changes guitar picks from a picker to a strummer, and she never does it the same way twice. I've seen her retrieve it from various parts of a mic stand and even picked it up off the stage floor. In this particular clip she actually has it hidden in her hair! Watch at :50

      @skipacuff5104 6 лет назад +9

      madmaxusa1 I’ll second that, my friend. This band’s Steamboat Annie is a classic by any standard and at every level of the recording. They have played this live for 42 years, always just as exciting as the record, which has to be one of the best engineered rock recordings ever. To me, the 1976 vinyl original sounded like one of those meticulous audiophile productions that you can find on RUclips that have such outstanding sound even though the ultra-engineered source is crammed and diluted into a 128 kilobits per second stream. My research states that Crazy on You was Heart’s first single off the debut album, which surprised me because I first became aware of Heart by hearing Magic Man in frequent rotation on FM stations in the NYC area. I bought Tugboat Annie immediately after hearing Magic Man’s astonishing vocals and musicianship, so this is my 42nd year as a loyal fan of the band in studio or live. I also learned this evening that Nancy’s subtly changing intro has its own title, namely “Silver Wheels”, and that Nancy has said that her furiously strummed second part of the intro was inspired by the Moody Blues song “Question”, which seems obvious now that I know it. Finally, Heart’s live performances have been enriched with phenomenal covers of songs by their peers, and if ever called upon to do so, I would testify under oath that Heart is the greatest live performer of classic Led Zeppelin hits, arguably better than Zep, at least in the post-Bonham lineups. That’s my story, and I’m sticking with it. 😎
