Taken from her instructional video from 1996. She calls this Silver Wheels, which is also the title of the instrumental she plays on Bebe Le Strange. It is the same song, just different parts of it...if you check out live performances of her doing the intro to COY, you can see she intertwines them as she usually includes segments of the Bebe Le Strange version. She also sometimes likes to throw in a few bars of the song Hijinx from the Dog and Butterfly album, as well as a bit from Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Here is a link to her discussing the inspiration for this song, Paul Simon's 'Angie'....or as she puts it, how she 'ripped him off' ; )

As a side note, Paul Simon's version of this song was a redo of Davey Graham's (and then John Renbourn's) Anji'.

I know Howard Leese is or was playing for Bad Company
@@rbagel55 Yes, he's been playing with Paul Rodgers since he left Heart, so the Bad Company gig was a natural. Another outstanding original Heart member!
Plus....you were always the hottest woman in rock. I've had a crush on you since 76ish? I suspect like many other fans. Anyway.....great guitar playing. Ok I'll shut up with the generic crap now.
It’s the tricky Joe Bob thing is the key
awesome thanks so much for share !
She makes it look so easy. This riff is absolutely insane.
Always wanted to learn to play it. It'll take awhile to do it justice
She couldn’t teach me guitar. I’d be preoccupied just staring at her.
I tried to learn it at one point, and got it down for the most part. I really didn't think to use a pick though, I just assumed I had to use finger picking because of how crazy it sounded. I definitely didn't play it nearly as clean as her.
use a metronome and play it super slow before you dare to bump it up, cuz this one is a really sick riff-best wishes@@MichaelMattison
It's one of those things that with an hour of practice isn't that hard, but actually writing it in the first place is just mind boggling
Her modesty is off the charts. She never throws around a bunch of terms without explaining them and she doesn't talk down to her audience. "Mainly where the dots are" That's just so cool.

Modest and supportive. ruclips.net/user/shorts-s7vkZ97wRg?feature=share
Nancy has been teaching guitar since she was a pre-teen. Teaching other kids and adults. Professionally.
That's probably because she doesn't know the technical terms. It's kind of embarrassing to other musicians.
She's just so matter of fact and nonchalant about it. Girl, you a fkn rockstar and that is one of the most iconic intros ever.
This video illustrates exactly why nobody can ever dismiss Heart as just a simple "chick" band. Both Ann and Nancy are the fucking real deal. So musical. So creative. Very much pioneers for women's rock music. Props.....
Oh heck no. The first time I heard 'Magic Man' I was blown away, and had a hard on at the same time! I did not know they had a girl guitarist. Then when I found out Nancy played guitar I thought she played all the guitar, and I thought she was one of the best out there.
Saw them play numerous times around town when I was a kid.
They used to jam in a house by my elementary school.
Liked the music then
Always loved her sisters voice
Two nice girls and the rest are all men.
Biff Malibu lol I will be honest, back in the 70s and early 80s when I would only hear them on the radio I could take them or leave them . Then they went through the big hair glamour faze and lost me for years. Then in the later 90s till present I started seeing videos of them that were really well made not MTV videos but videos of them playing and I saw them in concert and my opinion of them has completely changed! Yes, they are the real deal for sure and extremely talented. The best female band ever I would say.
Indeed! They put "good" musicians to frikin shame!
100% talent, 0% EGO. It's what made these sisters so great fronting Heart.

Those harmonics and the fact that she’s hybrid picking too very impressive. Also the fact that she simply doesn’t mess anything up in this video.
So a little bit of info on Rick musicians. They mess up, they just don't let you see it. There was some blues guy I think who said something about that.
I've had a crush on this woman for well over 35 years.
I saw her in the early 80's when I was in college. Oh ya I had my fantacies.
Got to see them last summer in Detroit...Ann is like 69 I think...Nancy is maybe 64 or 5...could not believe how hard they rocked for their age...just unbelievable and what a great show!

Ann and Nancy’s performance of “Stairway to Heaven” on Kennedy Center Honors’ tribute to Led Zep was outstanding. It brought Robert Plant to tears.
It was just incredible!!!
while Hearts cover of stairway was indeed epic and arguably the best ive seen ...i think seeing Bonhams son in the bowler on drums ..then the choir wearing the same kicked off Plant and Paiges tears
Matt Foster Absolutely! From what I understand, Jason Bonham playing on “Stairway” was intended as a surprise for Plant, Page and Jones. His presence on stage unquestionably moved them.
Only just stumbled onto that a few days ago. It was many levels of amazing.
YES IT DID!!!
The entire Dreamboat Annie album is an experience. One of my favorite records from the ‘70s

Possibly the best intro to a song ever.
This intro is the reason I am currently learning acoustic guitar.
I figure after 10,000 hours or so of practice and I might be able to struggle my way through it.

Nancy Wilson is the most underrated guitarists in rock and roll. Beautiful, too.
First time I have ever seen a rock and roll legend give a guitar tutorial. She's so sweet and humble. I first heard Heart on the radio in the 1970s when I was a young teenager. I am now 62, and anytime I turn on Classic Rock radio I hear a song by Heart. Speaks volumes about their staying power. Rock legends. Well done.
check out some of the tutorials by Mark Knopfler. Same "make something difficult look easy" vibe.
Brian May also did some some guitar lessons of his famous riffs in Queen. Check them out
BB King is also amazingly humble. People like these are in another universe. I guess it's okay that Annie decided she didn't like playing the guitar, so she let Nancy play it. I think everybody is okay with it.
I don t understand a thing she s trying to explain there, but i am in love.
She certainly is a very pretty lady!
She’s talking about flageolet tones (touching the strings halfway lightly), and binding of several notes with her left hand (which are making the chords on the frets) and improvising while playing this.
@@prillewitz No she said its a thing

It appears to be Asus4, Am, Asus2, Am. Lots of "guitarists" don't know what they do. Funny, but it sounds nice either way.
Edit: Apparently, I came across as insulting to this lady, or guitar players in general.
My intent was: I was amused by the comment, and being very left-brained, I wrote out what I felt she played to help other left-brained folk to know what she played.
My "guitarist" comment was just factual, not judgemental. I was thinking of my lead guitar friend from the early 90s when I typed it. No offense was meant to this fine lady nor anyone else who identifies as a "guitarist". My thoughts were happy, loving, and trying to be helpful. Any other interpretation was unintended by me.
Gotta love the Joe Bob part...
@@EclecticEssentric I would say that those guitarists know exactly what they do but they don't know the terms that you prefer to use to describe what they are doing.

No one can play it like her. I’ve watched so many covers and they’re off here and there. She’s the only one that can play it perfectly!
missymotors perfection is for mentally ill people. Music is an expression of lighting in a bottle! It should never be the same as anybody elses way of playing any song. It should always be similar but with your own style added to it. Anybody that plays it exact isn't an artist they are a machine and machines have no souls.
Kinda easy when you are the one who wrote the fucking thing, dumbass.

I saw Heart in 2010. Ann was 60, and Nancy was 56 (I think). They rocked harder and better than any other band I've ever seen. Ann's voice is well known (I'd say the best voice in Rock), but Nancy has to be seen to be believed. As she was playing blistering guitar licks, she'd suddenly launch through the air, across the stage like an Olympic athlete, and gracefully land - never missing a note. Incredible.
I took a friend who had never been to a rock concert before. Afterward, she said "That was amazing - my heart is pounding!". I said "Yeah. It doesn't get better than that...'. I stand by that... :)

@@55Quirll Talent, determination and hours upon hours of practice, and there you have it.
@@mtp4430 Agreed.
@@55Quirll Many people are under the assumption that Talent means that a person can do something well with minimal effort LOL
First, you must posess the ability, then you must tirelessly work at it to get to the level of a Nancy Wilson.
I've had people say this about Eric Clapton. "The guy is so talented, it's not like he had to put in much work" LOL
That kills me. Like he picked up a guitar at 10 years old and was suddenly a virtuoso.
Jimi Hendrix slept with his guitar, sat on the toilet with his guitar, and according to his last girlfriend, would fry eggs on the stove with his guitar strapped to him.
That's the type of dedication required to get to that level. Talent is just one of the necessary ingredients.
But without the hard work, you've got nothing. Unless you're a child prodigy like Mozart.
But even then, Mozart practiced hours upon hours once his Father realized he had a prodigy on his hands.
By 5 yrs old the kid was entertaining Kings and Queens and wrote his first full Opera at I believe 8 years old.
But even as a child prodigy, you need to put in the work.
@@mtp4430 Yes, indeed! And I'm not sure people realize; most of the "naturals" fade away, and - maybe - impress a few friends, on the back porch, just as it is, with sports. Most professional musicians just "wanted it", so very badly! Of course, there is a complex matrix, of God-given abilities, early encouragement, varieties of fine coordination, compositional ability, a musical "ear", etc, but luck is only enjoyed - at least, more than ONCE - by the gutsy, determined ones, who LOVE their instrument (or their ideal vision, of themselves, playing said instrument, very well). And, with all that said, rockstar-level success, in music, is like "Hoop Dreams" (the NBA); ten million people want it, but only a very few spots are available. Nobody said it wasn't a long shot. Hopefully, the continuing act, of making music, is healing, to those who did not get their dream shot. There are a lot of them (us), out there!
