Why???? So we can all vomit to rap or hip-hop?
When performers PERFORMED.
And this band was, and still is, SO good.
You can spot Matthew McConaughey's stunt double in the crowd watching Nancy's intro, transfixed in total awe. He's clearly thinking to himself: "Alright alright alright!"
Ann’s voice is wonderful, but let’s take a moment to appreciate those top notch harmonies!
Two of the most beautiful and best rockin women in music!
I watch The Midnight Special every week!
Best acoustic guitar intro in rock.
The Soul, the Sound and the Passion can never be duplicated. That's pure raw emotion... that's Ann and Nancy 48yrs ago and they still got it in 2024
Viac Ann ,bez nej by boli v Piči Chlapče nedospelo-múdry zbytočne. Mier.
72 years old now and that song still sends a shiver up my spine every time I hear it. The Wilsons had it all.
Ann's voice control and range are simply amazing. And the rest of the band is tight!
Nancy is a beast on guitar!!!
One of the best live performances ever!!!
Calm down.
@@brötzmannsax Maybe you need to calm up…
@@stevelacy9396 😁Correct! I saw Heart perform when I was young and living in Houston. Excellent concert all way 'round!!😎
Ann and Nancy are my heroes. So ahead of their time and great women rock performers!
Y'know, I never gave these guys the recognition they deserved back in the day. Regretting that now. Heart was an excellent band. Nancy and Ann Wilson were terrific. The dudes in the band were no slouches either.
Ann is just so incredibly good. I hate that we lost out on more music like this because of the MTV era.
right up there with stevie nicks foi sho
@@gabaghoul23 Ann blows Stevie away voice wise. No shame in it. A.W. is the best female rock voice ever. I'd put prime Linda Rondstadt right there too
@@MrAitrainingDefinitely correct 👍
@@MrAitraining Can't forget Pat Benatar.
I never was much of a partier or nightclub person so I often stayed home, had a few beers and watched Saturday Night Live and then the Midnight Special. There were so many great bands who appeared on this show at the time. Makes me want to cry seeing these again. We were blessed with the best music then.
One of my favorite songs! I was 28 years old with two children, working two jobs to save enough money to put a down payment and for closing costs, took eight months to do it! BUT I DID IT! GREAT SONGS KEPT ME FOCUSED, AND NOT ON HOW MUCH MY BODY ACHED!!
Ann and Nancy... rock royalty right here.
One of the GOAT bands ❤
Top notch band caught live in their prime in a high quality video. Can't ask for anything more! 💗
For rock and roll, she is the #1 best vocalist alive.
"was", presently Lzzy Hale is #1
5:17 she just came back from another music dimension and now she is with us again
And can I just say how great it is that the Midnight Special was recorded on 2" quad, and nobody wiped the tapes?
Nancy Wilson is the most amazing woman to walk the earth.
Now THAT'S a real performance!
Nancy's prelude is outstanding too. Top notch musicians
I'm 71 y.o. I can't believe I never saw Midnight Special. Now I remember why I loved Heart so much.
My sister and I sat up every Friday night to watch the midnight special. We saw this performance when it happened. Those midnights with my sister are precious memories now that she is gone.
Heart is still one of my favorite bands to listen to. Such awesome talent. They I’ll never be matched in my opinion.
Back when bands had to have TALENT! Sounds almost exactly like the studio version! What a voice! What back-up!
5:03 Nancy KICKIN' IT OUT ... yeah !!!
The Wilson sisters are amazing! I’ve always loved Heart! This lineup was my favorite. Their 80’s songs are still great to this day as well.
This is one of the best Rock bands in history. Crazy On You is a classic. (Barracuda has to be one of the top ten most rocking songs ever, in my humble opinion)
I think this is the best version of this song I've ever heard! So good! What a voice!!
Perfect execution of a flawless song.
Her voice always sends a chill up my back.
It's so sad that young people today don't have good music to listen to.
🥱
There's just nothing more iconic than Nancy Wilson rocking that Ovation Adamas. Classic.
Outstanding! Once again I want to Thank the Curators who have made all these High Quality Videos available. These are 50 years old. My brothers and I watched these when we were kids. Who knew that we were watching future Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Bands !! Thank you so Much! More Please!
I'm admittedly not the biggest Heart fan in the world but this performance is excellent!
same here and agreed
Im from that era, was 14 when this album was released. For me, that was their first and best album. Never was a fan of their music after this album, it was ok, some of it, and Ann definitely did some vocal gymnastics. But Crazy On You, and Magic Man where great songs
What a perfect song. Wow. And what a performance! Live harmonies?! That doesn’t even exist today.
Only in cover bands, mostly with older musicians.
One of the hardest openings ever on a Guitar 🎸 typically was done at the end of a concert because of the pain in her hands she had to endure. No one else was willing to do intro
Wow! The songs we took for granted in the day are truly classics now.
The Midnight Special was the show to watch music. The MTV for the boomer generation.
Many of us Washingtonians saw this version of the band doing sell out New Year's Eve shows at the end of December 1978. Those were some incredible shows and, and really the last time that we would see the Roger Fisher and Michael Fisher era. It was the dog and butterfly tour, it was pretty awesome.
Absolutely iconic intro - Nancy was rock solid... as were Ann's vocals. Great performance.
She made it sound like a 12 string.
loved the Midnight Special as a little kid in a small town in east Texas where understandably no touring band would go. The show brought great bands playing live right into our living rooms.
Nancy has always been one of my favorites!
The greatest voice ever in rock, period.
My favorite performance ever on Midnight Special
