FUN FACT: When Van Halen were on tour in the early '90's, Alice In Chains was their opening act. Jerry Cantrell saw Eddie's arsenal of Ernie Ball guitars and Peavey 5150 heads and cabinets and was telling Eddie how he personally could never afford all of that gear himself. After the tour, Jerry returned home to a friend's house where he was living and his friend asked Jerry what he was going to do with all his stuff in the garage. A puzzled Cantrell went to the garage and stood in awe at these brand new Ernie Ball guitars and Peavey 5150 guitar amp heads and cabinets, shipped courtesy of Eddie Van Halen.

I’ve heard this before. I think it was the Alice manager he was staying with and she wanted to park her car in the garage, that was now filled with all this new gear.
Had the pleasure of seeing both bands during this tour as they did make a stop in North Florida. What a one-two punch. It didn't get any better than that.

Jerry Cantrell writes music you can feel in your bones. Brother is instantly effective. What a musical genius. Alice in Chains made me want to play guitar and be in a band. I got to watch the Jerry Cantrell Band from on the side of the stage, when they came to my town, and i hung with the band after (I knew people - ha). Unfortunately, Layne had died very recently and Jerry wasnt up to being in public (or so i remember) - so he didnt hang with us -- but the rest of the guys were amazingly cool. I wish i could have met Jerry just to say Thank You. Very cool having Nancy Wilson harmonizing & the Red Rocker playing along. I got goosebumps during the intro and it got better and better. Thank You Sammy for making it happen. Thank You Nancy for driving the train for a generation. Thank You Jerry for....everything.
It was kinda trippy seeing Sammy just hang back like that. Lol. Dude has some of the best stuff on these RR road trip collabs. People you never thought you would see playing together but sure love that you did. This was top shelf stuff.
Fighting tears, dammit.. his words cut to the quick. Childhood pain never leaves. Sammy, Anne and Nancy helped us survive our teens and twenties. Now the train keeps a'rollin via the amazing bands they ushered in. Powerful recording, thank you for posting.
As a young man, Nancy Wilson was my 1st celebrity crush. As an older man, now I understand the beauty better and know that it runs deeper than her looks. (and her guitar kicks!)
I love Nancy Wilson's voice when she's singing or talking. There's something about her that is so alluring and she's very talented. I been binging the 1985 self titled Heart album this past week. I was a year old when that album came out. "These Dreams" is my favorite song, brings back childhood memories.
She does have a special thing about her when she is just casually talking. Like if you just met her, she will have the presents of a friend have known for life.
You can tell Jerry and Nancy have played this together a lot. Sammy is funny to watch here. He’s doing what every guitarist does when they don’t know the song……play little licks in the key and hope it goes with it.
Was in Junior High and these two gorgeous ladies came in to play an instrumental set, no one had heard of them. Their Father Mr Wilson taught at our school and brought them in, they were so cool and unpretentious. Signed everyone’s annual, talked to us all, only maybe 20 kids came to hear them play. Flash forward a year and they came again, huge hits on the charts. Maybe not as acoustic but the entire school had to have been there. And even in the wake of their huge success they were just as cool, unpretentious. Thanks ladies for the awesome memories!
One of the things I miss the most about that particular era: the harmonies between Jerry and Lane (Rotten Apple being my very favorite). A 2nd...soooo rare, and tasteful in that spot.
It's amazing to me Sammy is 75 years old. Most people would have slowed down but not him, he keeps pushing the gas pedal to the floor! Only way to live. 🤘🔥⚡
Wow 3 legends just sitting around grooving off of each other. And Nancy's harmony is flawless. That is hard you know, being the harmony, especially on the fly, no rehearsal. She is magical!

Same here. I saw them in a relatively small town in Michigan on the Little Queen tour. I was up front, house right, cheering Nancy on the whole night. She had a flower stuck in the strings at the head of her Ovation guitar. At the end of the concert, she threw it to me. I still have it. Her playing encouraged me to work harder on my playing. I'm just an amateur musician but I'm better because of her. Back when I used to play out more my go to was to play the intro to Crazy On You then go right into Classical Gas.
Damn, I just realized I’ve been crushing on Nancy Wilson for over 40 years now. Pretty much since the first time I saw her in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” when she pulled up next to Judge Reinhold in that Corvette (with “Waffle Stomp” by Joe Walsh playing in the background). Still remember the pink and purple sweater she was wearing.
As a musician, songwriter and vocalist myself, these were 3 of my favorite people and their bands. They still sound great! And Nancy still looks beautiful too! Me and all my friends went crazy looking at her and her sister Ann while growing up listening to music.

Spent many a nights at Oil Can Harry in Vancouver when Heart was the house band watching Ann and Nancy treat us to some amazing music. They were damn good from the get go. They used to end their sets with Stairway to Heaven. Great memories.
Makes absolute perfect sense that the first song Jerry asked her about back then was Mistral Wind. The minor chords, the haunting type melody, right up his alley. His style of guitar playing is so elevated and beautiful.

I saw a very young Heart band in the early 70s play at our high school at the lunch hour. It was Hugh McRoberts junior high in Richmond BC. Never would have guessed they would become so huge. Been a fan ever since. Saw them years later headlining a show with ZZ Top as the opening act

Anytime 3 talented musicians play together on acoustic guitars it always comes out nice like this and Nancy Wilson always makes it even better to another level. Love you girl!
The last time I saw Jerry Cantrell was at the Colourbox in downtown Seattle 1993. Dude walked in with 2 girls, one on each side then came up to the bar where me and my brother were enjoying a cocktail He looked at me and all I could do was knod my head to say hello, he returned the knod. Flash to now, 30 years later, such a cool dude, but its amazing what time does to you and also your image. Good times back in the early 90s. Glad I got to experience it. Great video of some ROCK legends jammin some tunes together!!
Heart was so respected amoungst metal heads, believe it or not. The sound that they had was so before it's time, and the crunch they had like on songs such as Barracuda, was just so powerful. You could find a heart album among many early metal greats such as Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Cream, Deep Purple and other early greats.
Heart was recording in Dallas in 1985 and we saw Nancy in her red sports car on the highway on the way to work. She knew I recognized her and smiled and waved at me. Her hair kinda surprised me because it was so red. I saw NANCYW on her license plate as we were about to pass the car and sure enough it was her. I was about seven feet from her. So it was a huge deal to me. I used to listen to over an hour of Heart every morning in the early 80s on a homemade 8-track mix tape after getting high. I had an entire garbage bag of pure buds. It was heaven.
Met Jerry before the open of the Dirt tour show at Evergreen. What a hell of a nice guy. Was always a big fan and still am to this day. My most favorite guitar player from the 90's scene.

Once Heart got off the road around 1990, the various members of current bands (AIC, Soundgarden, etc.) would go over to Nancy's farm in Woodinville to jam. They'd sit outside around a fire, playing acoustic guitars-Nancy called them "hootenannies". Cantrell often borrowed her guitars, and Ann sang vocals on AIC's "Rooster".

When you hear superstars talk sincerely & humbly about their peers, it's refreshing & helps restore my faith in humanity.
All amazing. Nancy is was and will always be beautiful.
I really like how Jerry plays the solos like they are on the actual recording and not just winging it and going on some kind of tangent like other guitar players do...
Really nice. Nancy Wilson always graceful.
Saw Heart on their Little Queen tour in Springfield Mo.,1977 I believe maybe my second concert in my young life ..such awesomely talented ladies..I was blown away😱
I love these 3 so much! Some of my all-time favorites for sure!
Love hearing the reedy thread of Nancy’s voice weave in and out.
Three of my favorite musicians. Awesome!
So much love and respect for each other! ❤ ! Blessings to you all for helping many throughout the world with your own life experiences put to music. That we also have gone through with your music! Thank you and blessings to you all!
If you listen to Mistral Wind by heart you can totally hear how it influenced AIC.
Imagine if AIC covered this song?
Of course, I love all three. They have all added much emotion and pleasure to my life. Thank you all.
This was well done, Nancy Wilson is so sublime
Wow! That was excellent! Three distinctly different musicians from three different genres and they harmonized so beautifully! Love you guys! Nancy I’ve seen heart about 20 times, you guys rocked every time! Maybe one day if you come Long Island way again we will meet…😎
Brings tears to my eyes and a lot of memories, thanks AXS for posting.
I keep coming back to this video, I love it. Nancy & Jerry sound so much better on these unplugged versions.
Frickin' awesome song with Sammy and Nancy joining in. Jerry one of the great artists.
Again? I thought this was done before. But I'm not complaining! Love Jerry xx
Gave me goose bumps….Love all you guys
"Music holds the secret to know it can make you whole its not just a game of notes, its the sounds inside your soul the magic of the melody Runs through you like a stream the notes that play flow through your head (like a dream) like a dream. (Triumph-Hold ON) I remember my friends giving me a hard time way back because i liked a song from Gary Numan (In cars) when every body was into rock only I like Enya, pink Floyd , Motley Crue, Pearl jam,Loreena McKinnitt, the go gos etc etc but mostly rock. I wonder what my music would have sounded like had I been a musician.
Wow, what a musical treat from 3 legends! 😎 🎶
11:40 Tasty vocal ad lib by sammy and a very genuine "nice" from Jerry.
This song along with along with Down in a hole where my al time songs sang by Layne Staley, R.I.P.,, This song could also be a symbol to his admiration of Layne even though it was released long before lane's passing. but out of the two I listed this is #1 to me. and Sammy looked and sounded like he was channeling a bit of Lainey through him. Thank you guys for doing this song. sounds really good acoustically. Bravo
So cool,When I was in the Navy,in between stations,My buddy and his family were from Champaign,Ill.And I went to that little music store by the overpass or something like that and my buddies wife said,I used ta date or go out with 1 of the guys in REO,cool, little midwest town.Take care fans,Lub ya Sammy,Nancy,Jerry,Kevin.Keep on Rollin!nah.Jcsx
