The most amazing thing about this vid for me is how generous and present Sammy is. He's only trying to do the song justice, not pull out all the stops and grab the spotlight. There are even a few points where he oversteps a bit and just smiles and pulls back. What a fucking LEGEND!!! And Rob Thomas... well... I don't know what you can say. His worst song is awesome...:)

Props to Sammy for getting with Rob for his show. Rob Thomas is one the coolest guys ever and one of my favorite artists. Truly a talented genuine musician, Mr. Thomas is.

Rob seems to be one of those rare talents that truly loves what he does more than the fame.
I saw Sammy at a small airport getting off a private plane years ago. I took a picture of him walking from the plane, and he saw me and walked over to me and shook my hand and said hello. Truly a great person.
I love the interaction with Sammy and the artists he interviews. Sammy keep the faith. You are keeping Rock alive.
Songs are like your kids, it's hard to pick a favorite. I always tell my kids that my favorite is the one giving me the least grief.
One of the best interviews I've seen Sammy do. Rob makes you feel like you're part of the process. Sammy's not just a celebrity or musician but a real people person. Him and Alice Cooper are in a league of they're own.

It's so great that he mentioned what a fan he was of "Live Without A Net"...one of the best live performances ever recorded. I can imagine how inspiring it was to a young writer/future performer.
A short story; As a single man having a much earned midlife crisis, I traveled on holiday from SoCal to Thailand in 2001. I found myself in a GoGo bar in Pattaya. Back in the late 60’s, I was too young to be drafted in the Vietnam war. I had read that many solders took R&R in Thailand back then. As I sat in this GoGo Bar, a stunner came out dancing to the song “Game of Love”. Then came on “Smooth”. Sitting on a leather couch, I had a girl on my left hugging me, a girl on my right hugging me, while Carlos and Rob were killing it with that song. I just rested my head back and grinned from ear to ear as it hit me, this is where and why my brothers took R&R here. I get it! The memory of that trip gives me joy to this day. 🤟

I've done security for a lot of artists over the past decades.. and I have to agree Willie Nelson not only the nicest man, but so humble and what blew my mind about him is after the shows he'd go out and sign stuff and meet fans and take photos, and he'd remember some of them by name from a previous time he was in town. The dude is super sharp. And I too, watched Live without a Net all the time growing up, and I think some people forget Sammy is a really good guitarist.
Sammy was my first concert way back in 1984 , it's amazing how the man is still ripping it up to this day !
I saw him open up for Boston in 1979. Crazy
Sammy is a really good person to work for, and always has a good attitude. My personal experience, his brother in-law Buck is a good friend. Bolinas Roks.

I used to really like Sammy (even met him in 79 at a record store I worked at in Fort Worth) but enough's enough. Dude is NOT a TV interviewer, he is not every rock stars "buddy" and he certainly is not an even passable guitar player. And this band is WELL below average playing a lot of mediocre "cover" songs. I have been waiting, and hoping, that one day Rob would be a guest on R&RRT! I was not let down. Great talk and interaction between these 2 legends. Maybe they will collaborate on something soon. Can't wait to see Sammy later this summer! Haven't seen Rob as a solo artist, but seen him many times with MB20. They both always put on a great show.

I used to work with Rob Thomas' mother in Orlando. This guy is for real. One time I saw him leave the band bus early, before the scheduled time to meet the fans, because he saw a fan in a wheelchair waiting.

Sometimes it takes me a while to click lmao, but starting to see his show is about capturing the some of the best voices from the mid-nineties through early 2000’s. Great idea because a lot of these bands still tour and the singers have superior vocals to the majority of artists today.
