Heard George Thorogood and the Destroyers in a small theater in Vermont that seats a few hundred people, on a cold weekday evening, and they played like they were playing for a full stadium. Like it was the most impotrant gig they would ever have. Truly professional, and a great show. 🙂

I discovered George very late, just last year on RadioSure on the Classic Rock Channel. I was listening and suddenly heard someone else doing Who do you Love and they weren't Juicy Lucy , the version I was famiiar with so I checked it out and discovered the wonderful George and the Destroyers. He was so exciting and animated I loved him immediatley as he's so sassy and evidently enjoys what he is doing, there is only one other act in my eclectic music taste that just makes me smile every time , the inimitable Rory Gallagher. It's not a bad thing to find someone new to you and enjoy, you're never too old either, I'm 70 years old and a Grandmother. .

I was at the Stones concert at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY in 1981. When George played Move it on over, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and we saw sunshine. It was eerily cool. Elvis died a few months before I was born, so I got to see the Elvis phenomenon grow, from the viewpoint of a child. My mum was a huge fan, and my favourite album is still AS RECORDED AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. From the rise of imitators to the sightings that became part of pop culture. Music is still an important part of my life, but the music of Elvis shaped where I was to go in that lifelong journey.

Great interview with George. I remember seeing George Thorogood and the Destroyers at Orange Coast College gym. I think it was around 1979 when he first started getting some airplay. I remember seeing him on TV one night and thinking, holy shit, who is this guy? The next day reading the OC Register newspaper, there it was. "George Thorogood one night only". I raced down to the college and grabbed two tickets for the show that evening. Couldn't have been more than 2000 people. The basketball gym was basically a glorified high school gym.. George and his band put on one of the highest energy rock & roll shows I've ever seen to this day, and I've seen a lot. He was drenched in sweat by the end.
Have since seen him 3 more times over the years, and always great. But that early show was really something else.

Oh man! (Caution, very long text here) To see such wonderful musicians that are honest music lovers is always a treat beyond words! I saw Sammy Hagar play right after Cheap Trick in the arena where the Phoenix Suns play around 2006. Sammy is always loose with his band, joking around, but playing serious rocking jams. I ve seen Sammy many times on RUclips, and a DVD, and his approach presenting his brand of rock to the masses never changes! I love honesty. George Thorogood I saw at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix Az around 06 or 07. Awesome show. Tight band. Says alot about this man's character when he has Jeff Simon on drums and Billy Blough on bass since 1974. Perhaps even earlier. Yes the same original band members are still with him. My honest opinion, George was even more awesome with the great Hank Carter on sax (just like Ted with Derek St. Holmes) but again that's just my opinion. Thorogood put out some great albums this century. Ride Till I Die, and The Hard Stuff are his best stuff since Boogie People. Jim Shuler on guitar compliments George's guitar very well. And he has been with George for almost 25 years. Sammy is such a wonderful music lover. Just asking George "how the hell you keep band members that long" is just many evidence that Sammy is so into music, just like George. Such tunes of energy kept me going a long time. (Today I'll have many Becks beers, many tacos, do chores, and just jam out to my CDs on my practical 250 watt sterio. Sammy and George will be on the speakers along with many others) I remember when Milwaukee Best beer was a gold and white 12 pack cans for 6 dollars. Around Saturday in the 1990's, I drink that with eggs for breakfast and crank up my Thorogood and the Destroyers CD. And yes, watching a Thorogood concert in around 07, I didn't drink beer or any booze at all, and had fun. I love watching these guys on RUclips. All that old school energy. Love the honesty. Sammy Hagar admitted to Ted Nugent on rock n roll road trip, that Ted inspired Sammy to bring energy in his performances, just by watching Ted play. Wow! I would have already thought that such energy Sammy was already bring from his days on Montrose. Just another wonderful example of musicians bring IT to the next few levels! Sammy even gave credit to one of the guys from Foreigner in a old interview about Sammy singing better in the 80's. Just awesome range! I love his solo albums. Sure VOA, and Standing Hampton were more commercial (and yes these albums kick ass) but how can you not like Street Machine? Awesome writing as usual as evidence on Plain Jane. And such wonderful rockers as Growing Pains, Trans Am and This Planet's on Fire. Great stuff! These tunes have kept my laboring ass going for many years. As far as my carnival days as a Ferris Wheel operator.....well how does Chad operate and balance a 50 foot Ferris Wheel during fair season sometimes as early as 10 in the morning to almost midnight, with non stop crowds because of the unlimited wristband passes? Hum, what CD to start with today? Hey Foghats Eight days On the Road from Rock n Roll outlaws. This will work! And yes, around seven or six in the evening I apply my live CDs for my customers to hear. Point is, music is awesome! Expecially for people that put passion in their work ethics, rock and blues guitars are better then two energy drinks. Without the side effects of such drinks. I'm glad that Johnny Winter (my all time favorite musician) was mentioned in this episode. I can go on and on, but my tunes, tacos, and Becks is calling. I'll will mention this. As the great bluesman BB King said "everybody borrows from somebody" He means that everyone was inspired by someone. Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley brought their music to the next level, and also had their own style. But Chuck admitted he was only doing his (I forgot the lady's name, yes a female ax slinger whom if you see her on RUclips, you'll be impressed) impression of her for a long time. And yes Elvis sung songs from other artists, he just performed them with his own style of bringing IT. I love the honesty from these two. I love reading the compliments from these guys fans. How about the best intro I ever heard from rock on a live song before Sammy and Gary Phil jam out those solos on Bad Motor Scooter? And yes, the one on RUclips with these ax warriors is over 17 minutes long! Damn, a HUGE difference to the hard rocking one on All Night Long that's 7 minutes long. Peace people 🎸🎵🎸

Excuse me. Been drinking. Anyway the name I now remember is Rosetta Thorpe. That who Chuck Berry got his inspiration from. Check her out people. I'm glad I just remembered her name. Other fast licks, and yes these are the blues but kick ass variety, from ax ladies to listen to are Debbie Davies and Ana Popovich. You won't be disappointed. You'll even shake your booty to your lady whom is also shaking it, just jamming out to these tunes. Great way to end such a Road Trip episode. Buddy Guy or BB King? George's response, "How about BB Guy?" In other words, how the hell can you choose?" Well friends 🎵The hills are aliveeee.... With the sound of guitars 🎵🎶 🎸 🎸🎸 haha yes yes yes

Props for paying well, I think part
of the appreciation for that is the
    respect you showed/show your players,
the money is essential , but the

Wow...It's been forever since I saw George live. Williamsport, PA (home of the Little League World Series) 1985 or 86. An Army roommate turned me on to George. Love the Red Rocker and the band. Love Elvis, he was stationed near where I was stationed in the Army. Been to Graceland and looks like some of the displays are different since I was there.

Sammy has such a vibrant personalty. Montrose was a huge influence on me as a teen learning to play. I still love and listen to that first album. I have to be honest. I do not own a George Thorogood album but i like his music. Just not that much.

When did you first become aware of rock and roll? That's a good question to ask some of these baby boomer rockers who were born post World War 2. Having been born in 1971 myself, as a Gen Xer, I first became aware of the music my parents were listening to on the radio, records, and 8-track tapes when I was only 4 or 5 years old in 1975-76, so I remember hearing the Eagles, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Edgar Winter, etc firsthand--that's why I like to say I came of age in the "classic rock" era and started digging rock and roll before I even started grade school, when most kids my age have their first point of reference for the music when MTV began! So I always imagined guys like Sammy Hagar and Ted Nugent who were born in 1947 and 1948 remembering a time when there was no rock and roll, if they were 7 when it all began, but apparently, that's when they first took notice, whereas it happened at an earlier age for me

I remember hearing George the first time at my neighbors house who was a few years older than me, it was the live album and it quickly became a favorite. I walked away that day thinking “if I could make music like that!” Love that guitar you gave Sammy as well so cool, maybe someday I’ll get one, keep on rocking!
