    coconut oil works like a miracle. idk why so many doctors are against it. my granny uses it and man oh man the kind of flawless glowing skin she has, she always washed her face with fuller's earthh, has never used a soap or a facewash. i also think coconut oil usage is dependant of the kind of climate you live in and the kind of skin youhave.. That's just stupid to think all DIY skincare is bad. Because there is nothing better than absolutely natural things for your skin. Western people are so brainwashed by capitalism that if you put the exact same thing in a bottle and label it as organic, sulfate and paraben free and sell it to them at exorbitant prices they would give their kidney to buy it. But if you can just whip it up in your kitchen then it's an absolute no no. Lol. So many Asian cultures swear by natural skincare and haircare and have flawless skin and hair because of it.

    Also I understand he could surely have another thought to it, coz these oils behave differently at different temperature.. India being the tropical, sub tropical mix temperature, where its hot, the coconut oil acts like a natural coolant whereas, in colder areas, it freezes and acts differently as when rubbed in the palms, the friction activates and inonizes the heavy oil particles!!!

    • @alisonfraser8231
      @alisonfraser8231 2 года назад +1

      Is what true? You have not stated what she is warning you about. If you mean skin lightening, don’t do it. They are all harmful. I will tell you that I have used (and sold) many brands of skincare since my early teens. I’m almost 50 and only have a couple of faint expression lines. Aging is just another word for poor nutrition and sun damage. At 21, the best thing you can do to prevent aging is use quality sunscreen every day and year round. Use a basic routine with a couple of hardworking ingredients that are proven. Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and retinol are very good. Use your regime and moisturizer on your hands too. Your hands are as exposed as your face (in hot climates, your whole body) so give the same quality care to them and your hands will never give away your age. Drinking, tanning and extreme dieting are the things that will age you prematurely. Sun will catch up with you in middle age. You are smart to ask now when your prevention has a chance of working. At 50, you’d need a time machine to reverse that.

    Dr. Youn what do you think of spa facials vs at home facials? How often should you get a facial at a spa and is their a "type" of facial that is a waste of money? How often should you use various masks at home? Are many mud masks and sheet masks sold at drug stores more harm than good for your skin?
    General for everyone. But my skin in particular has acne on my cheeks and chin more so where a beard would grow on a man and the skin is rather dry. Then my forehead and nose are oily however never accumulate acne.

    • @noah9552
      @noah9552 2 года назад +2

      Spa facial once a month or max every two weeks. Hydrojelly facials are a waste of money unless they apply a mask underneath it. Mask once a week, prefer hydrating masks to go to sleep in as during sleep is when the skin is most actively accepting nutrients and working. Many mud masks at drug stores do nothing except dry up sebum, which a cleanser can do. Sheet masks at drug stores are only going to hydrate the skin - not harmful but not really different than a moisturizer.
      Most women who have acne do have it around the jawline - this is hormonal acne. Forehead/nose is t-zone and where your sebaceous filaments live. These filaments are responsible for secreting and spreading sebum to prevent trans-epidermal water loss (dehydration). As long as you are cleansing properly you will not generate acne as this is more related to clogged pores, and sebum does not clog the pores naturally. My suggestion is glycolic acid 7.5%~ 2x a week at night around jawline and salicylic acid 2% spot treatment 3-4x a week around jawline. For evening: Cleanse > glycolic acid > 3-4min > salicylic acid > 3-4 mins > tone(optional) > serum(optional) > moisturizer. I don't recommend applying glycolic acid on an open or extracted lesion, instead cauterize with salicylic acid and be careful not to pick it. These are my recommendations as a licensed esthetician, hope it helps.

      Microchanneling by Procell Therapies is great at breaking up acne scar texture. Scars will never be completely gone, but you can help make them far less noticeable in color and texture with microchanneling, microneedling, and laser resurfacing (recommend combo of ablative and non-ablative, just ablative can be pretty tough recovery time). Another treatment a derm can do is tca pinpoint application if it's pitted scarring. It helps even out the borders of the pits.

      Try AHAs in toners or masks for the scars, and use daily sunscreen and moisturizer to help new marks fade quicker. Niacinamide is also great for fading dark spots, maintaining hydration (important for preventing scarring), and regulating oil production.

      I fear I have accidentally exaggerated my scars. I don't have acne, for a few years as a teen I'd get breakouts quite regularly and I still have sporadic breakouts but nothing soul crushing (I know acne can be a really difficult thing to deal with) my scars are mostly noticeable to me and with make up I'm sure probably unnoticeable! But it is something that gets me down because I've started ageing in the past five years and don't recognise the face in the mirror.

    • @noah9552

      @@spacewitchvulcan Gotcha. I definitely understand though - we all notice so much more than what others notice. But there is nothing wrong with trying some treatments to help you feel more confident, even if it isn't anything extreme. If it's mild scarring then a glycolic acid chemical peel or a jessner could do you some good!

    No disrespect to your degree however, it always irks me when so called expert are telling people not to use something that they have been using since beginning of time with no side effects i.e coconut oil. It works for them with no issues.
    Another issue is this sunscreen propaganda I wish people would stop pushing that agenda. Highly melanated Caribbean, African people living in scorching hot climates have no idea of sunscreen till maybe recently but yet have beautiful wrinkle free skin. They mostly have a 2 step routine wash with soap doesn't matter what kind then moisturize most often with butters or coconut oil.
    Show me a 1 person who's been using sunscreen and anti aging cream with no wrinkles and I'll show you a whole continent or Caribbean island who don't use it and still have better skin and no wrinkles and still look at least a whole decade younger.
    Sunscreen may work to keep non melanated people on a wrinkle journey but not melanated people it is not needed. They are activated by the sun why block it?

She is extremely street-smart, articulate, diplomatic and gutsy not just to survive in Bollywood: a HEAVILY male-dominated and underworld-controlled, cut-throat competitive industry, but also to seamlessly make her way into Hollywood. She has more insight and ideas than half the industry combined. When she started appearing on the scene, the Jonas brothers' career was in a lull. She, in fact, helped revive his position and passion back for music also by helping resove the differences in the group. And I'm sure more than half the people in Asia donno don-care who Nick Jonas even is. I used to have acne, hyperpigmentation, dark spots, melasma, large pores all over my face and i tried korean 7 step saga, expensive brands like paulas choice, the ordinary, drunk elephant, serums, aha/bha etc but they only aggravated my condition. After that, i applied only one rule to my skin which is prescribed in ayurveda, "if you cannot consume an ingredient... you cannot apply the same on your skin". Then, i started using besan, coconut oil, cream, saffron, turmeric, lemon, honey as they are in form of cleansers and ubtans and my skin is not only cleared now but glows like glass skin. Curd is your natural chemical peel while besan is the best facial cleanser. Our ancestors used them for centuries literally. How can you say negative about coconut oil when the same fruit grows abundantly in tropics where sun rays are throughout the year? It protects our skin from harsh sun rays thats why they grows in hot climate and not in polar areas.
