    Among many other great accolades you could have, you are most definitely the champion of avoiding gear acquisition syndrome or constantly looking for the next shiny thing. Your focus on the final result is incredible. You are my inspiration to use what you have to the best possible result, including rocking the GH3 here...an almost 11 year old camera!
    I have a couple of Panasonic S series FF cameras, as well as a GH5. But every time I think about selling the GH5, I watch one of your videos and become encouraged to keep going with it and see what else it can do, and how much it still stacks up to newer gear. Thanks for sharing your work!

      Really appreciate that Andrew! The Gh3 and I have been through a lot together so I just cant seem to let it go, I have two of them at the moment haha

    I've used their meike 16mm t2.2, it's really amazing with a clean cinematic look.

    I actually used the t2.2 16mm and 35mm for an outdoor event this Saturday.
    The rest of the rig was a caged G9 paired with a Ninja V and a SmallRig manual Follow Focus oh and the iFootage Cobra C180 monopod as I was there all day!

    Awesome, glad you found them. I currently use the 25mm T2.2 for anything professional, alongside my Sirui 50mm.

    I cine-modded Nikon F lenses, 24, 35, 50 and 105. Works like a dream giving a nice creamy background, beautiful and sharp but not clinical. While it cost me around 400 USD all put together (including gear rings and step up adapter), I really love the look out of these Meikes and would probably have invested in these, if the Nikkors weren't around :)
    Also, lovely footage! What you manage to get out of the GH3 is incredible

    I use Olympus for photography and sometimes video, but decided to get a Meike lens when I realised my preferred focal length lens (the 17mm Olympus) was too small to be used on my new BMPCC4k! So I got the 16mm, loved it and now also have the 35mm version. They are great and perfect on the Pocket 4k, I have yet to try them on my EM1, but it could be fun.

    Hilarious...you gotta watch this all of the way to the end (there's a joke near the end)...For the real comment, I love your points about "lens breathing" and also about the vintage feel of the optics! BTW, while I think the music at the end helps to get the most out of the joke, yet it might be better for the RUclips algorithm if you just ended it there (so it tells RUclips people watched until the end, etc.) Thank you again for these videos!

    i’m a filmmaker on a super low budget and currently use a nikon d3100. sometimes the quality is decent but most of the time it’s garbage. i’m not satisfied with the results, and am considering splurging on a better camera. i didn’t even consider buying new lenses until this video. are there high-quality cinematic lenses available for nikon in my price range (under $500) or should i just get a new camera?

    If I want to start a vlog and im using the G85 would you reccomend using the Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f/2.5 or Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 ? Thanks in advance

    • @NigelBarros
      @NigelBarros  Год назад +1

      I have both those lenses and the 12-35 is technically better and it has OIS and is a bit wider but the 14mm is smaller and lighter and the AF is actually pretty good!

      I use the g85+12-35 2.8 all the time. I don't blog, but you can't go wrong with that lense. You can rent it before you buy it, thats what I did. I loved it.

    how can you get such smooth footage when the lens and camera have no stabilization? Does the rig really help that much?

    • @NigelBarros
      @NigelBarros  Год назад

      Yeah, and I've had about 15+ years of practice haha, but yeah the rig and top handle especially help. But a lot falls on the technique too

    Thank you very much for this video, I have a bmpcc 4k and I want to buy mft cine fixed lenses, which would you recommend between Meike - Viltrox - 7 artisans and Mitakon Zhongyi, I appreciate your advice. It would be interesting to see a video like this

    • @NigelBarros

      I think for the money the meike lenses are kinda hard to beat, not that they are the sharpest or fastest lenses but there's a huge range going from 8mm all the way to 85mm
