Thank you, sir. Gerald Undone kicks my butt in terms of thoroughness, but he is self-admittedly not a filmmaker, so his perspective is a bit different.
I actually can't believe this channel has less than 2k subscribers. It deserves more than 100k. Really great review, straight into the point, really logical procedure, and great comparison. Kudos sir for the best lens review I've ever seen 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Not sure how I haven't been suggested this channel yet, YT must be sleeping! This was such a fascinating technical review Very excited to see the practical side of it and would love to see this with the SLR Magic Micro Primes.
I wish all lens tests were this in depth. I feel like I can confidently purchase these lenses knowing what I'm going to get. Looking forward to part II!
This is one of the most comprehensive and informative lens tests I’ve ever seen. I’m very much looking forward to Part II and you have earned a subscriber to lighten up that cold, dark heart. Bravo.
The best in depth review of these lenses I´ve seen so far. That gives a really good impression, what to expect for the (little) money. I´ve ordered the same kit of lenses from Meike Global and really looking forward to test them
Sadly, actual advice about actual filmmaking does not attract viewers on RUclips. Review something while rambling on about yourself, though, that's gold! 😉
Just did my first shoot using the Meike 50mm T/2.2 with my BMPCC4K and I have to say I like what i've seen so far. I'm an audio guy so I made sure I use a cameraman who knew what he was doing but also someone I trusted. I was on the fence trying to figure out what lens I wanted next but after watching your video I'm leaning towards the 16 & 25. I'm looking forward to park 2 and thanks again for helping out cats like myself who are out of their elements.
Absolutely awesome comparison of these, Joe. Thanks for putting this all together. I'm very interested to see Part II as well. Best of luck with whatever you're working on.
Thank you for the kind words. COVID-19 really destroyed my plans for films this year. By this time, I had hoped to have released two more shots and be working on a feature. 😞
I'm in the same boat. I was nearing the final stages of pre-production for the first in a series of shorts when COVID hit. I'm hoping we all get to start realizing some of our plans in the not too distant future.
Man, this video came in clutch when I was looking for information on close focusing distances for the lenses. I remembered your video had a whole section on it and sure enough! Thanks again! Oct. 5th is coming soon!
Really enjoyed the coverage of the lenses and look forward to the second part, hence subscribed. The comparison zoom and frame shots were great to see. Great work. Thank you. Did not know the whole range is out! I have two of them (12 and 25). Maybe I can add a third.
Great, detailed review. I particularly like the comparison section from 11:25 through 12:47. This nicely demonstrates deviations among lenses in the set, and I wish other reviewers did something similar. Finding out that you lenses don't match when editing in post can present challenges that, while fixable, may be worth considering when shooting.
Lots of work went in this. Appreciate. Might give the 25mm a chance again after my bad copy. Other than the faulty focus ring, I share the same CA issue as your copy. Only at f5.6 was the CA mostly gone.
As someone who owns the whole set except for the 65 and 85, I didn’t expect to learn too much about these lenses in this video, but I was wrong. I’m happy to see that you touch upon what lenses are actually practical to have and which ones don’t fit, like the 12mm since it is often too wide. The two biggest surprises to me were just how bad the veiling glare is on the 35 and how different the light transmission is between lenses. Hard to be disappointed at the price point though and the glare can often be mitigated with a mattebox. Thanks for hard work. This was an incredible video to watch. BTW, your talking head lighting looks fantastic. 👍
Classy, thorough and insightful. The best comparison not only between lenses but also focal lengths, the FOV and Background compression sections helped a lot! Maybe release that part as a standalone?
Just stumbled upon this and I honestly must tell you that this might be the best comparison video of any kind that I have seen so far! The attention to detail in evey aspect of your categories is amazing and insanely useful. I don't think that I have seen anyone yet to match that. The one that stood out to me was the FOV comparison. I'm considering to get the 25mm MEKE at the moment. I can't wait to dig through your channel!
Hi! Just found your channel and am loving it! Keep up the good work! I've been looking into buying the Meikes for a while now, and this really helped me understand what I should go for.
Fantastic in-depth analysis! I’ve been slowly building up my collection of these and planning to eventually get them all. I’ve also used the DZOFilm 20-70, which I think serves as a great pairing or alternative to the Meike’s. I’d love to see your take on it if you can get ahold of one.
I was waiting for this since you released the first teaser, and it didn't disappointed, well done! Your previews videos actually helped me a lot when I was considering of buying my Meike lenses. So far, I'm very happy with them (I own the 12 and the 25) and I will probably invest on the 50/65.. I'll wait for the second part of your review (which looks very promising) to have more info for the decision ;) Keep doing the great work man, you're chanel will grow fast if you keep uploading this top quality content
Hi, I was waiting for this video. I'm Interested in these Lensen but the Mft-Mount hold me back until now. Apart from this, the performance looked really nice. I think for the beginning the 25mm and 12mm are a good starting point. I looking forward to part 2. It also would be cool, if you could make a part 3 with a Image comparison to the Rokinon Lenses. But until then ,thanks for the great work!
Look much much better than the samyang cheap 'cine' series (Rokinon is just a USA rebranding name to avoid racist comment on the south corean origin of the lenses)
The red fringe of the 65mm looks very interesting. Colorists striving for film look are working hard to emulate this halation artifact in post, and it seems that Meike is offering the effect in camera :)
This is golden, just what I was looking for! I have been wondering and comparing between purchasing either the 6k-4k and it all came to the lenses factor, you just saved me! pretty awesome, carry on!
Absolutely amazing lens review! This review was exactly what I was looking for and delivered so much more. The side by side comparisons was perfect. I actually took screen shots of all of them to use as a reference. Subbed. Looking forward to more great content. Thank you!!!
If I could pay you or convince sponsors to give you gear for this kind of content, I would lol! This was amazing and exactly what I needed to help a friend with a decision on these Meike's. Please do more master prime lens comparisons!!! I would love to see the Veydra's, the Rokinon Cine/DS/DSX/Xeen and other affordable prime sets and of course some EF mount sets as well. This is the data we all want before we buy a master prime kit!!! This video made me a subscriber and I don't hit that button lightly.
Thank you so much! I've reached out to other lens manufacturers, but I've never received a response. I don't think I get enough views or subscribes for them to care. But as I find and use gear that I think is worth mentioning, I'll do my best to provide useful information.
Joe. I've been waiting for this. Great stuff, sir! Wish I would have had this prior to buying my set (12,16,25,&35) but I feel great about the Meikes and am hoping to get at least one more. Sounds like it should be the 50 but those last two look great as well. Thanks so much, for putting these out!
Thank you sir, you are a true hero with this review. I'm really love the part about the Exposure, Contrast Comparison, it really helpful when planning lighting setup with these lenses on set.
Never have I seen a better comparison about something. Especially a lens comparison, well done! Subbed probably for ever! And now I’m going to crush it. ✌️

Wow, you just earned your self a subscriber with what may be the best lens line comparison video I've sever seen. This really gave me a good sense of the characteristics and quality of this entire line. I'm also very interested in seeing the followup video. As for which lens I would personally choose if I were only buy one? Well My camera line up typically consists of two pocket 4k's and a Micro Cinema Camera, and due to the last one I typically lean towards the wider end of of the lens range. I already have 2 different 16mm lenses that cover the, 32mm and 46mm lens equivalency range. Honestly i think of the lenses shown here I think the 25mm is probably the most appealing as it lands in a current tiny field of view hole/gap that has caused me issues with the BMMCC, and also looks to be the baseline to which all the others in the line for adjusting for the rest. So it seems like a logical first lens of the set.
Thanks! It is a very informative review, looking forward to the the second part! I would like to see how you match color/brightness between the lens as well. Liked & Subscribed
Thank you so much for all the detailed info. I'm coming from Rokinon and looking to invest in Meike lenses. This was very helpful for me and my decision.

Solid video brother. I currently have a 16 and looking to add 2 more for full camera coverage. I am an indie filmmaker mostly doing narrative work. I own a bmpcc4k. Do you recommend to add a 25 and 50? Or 25 and 65? Appreciate your response whenever you have time. Thanks again and keep up the great work! 🙏🏿
@@David-kn7xq Yeah, sorry. It's how easily bright lights can wash out the image that concerns me. Someone else commented that their copy doesn't behave as badly as mine.
Great review! Thanks a lot! totally agree on the 25mm as best choice. that lens and the 16mm have a very nice image texture and sharpness. Hope to win cause I love those lenses!
Hey, everyone, we have a winner, Mike Esparza! Thanks to everyone who watched and commented. I'm traveling, but part II is coming soon.
Congratulations !!!
(I'm really sad from the inside I didnt win haha )
Ok, that was one of the best lens comparison that I have ever seen.
