Dragon Warrior was amazing when it came out in the USA. There was actually a chance to get it for free if you ordered a subscription to Nintendo Power. Then Captain N had an episode dedicated to it. It was a good time to be a gamer!

This franchise has great replay value. Rather than bombard the audience with gimmicks and DLC, Enix gives us a simple set of tales in which the player uses his imagination to play the game. I first played it and was annihilated in 1990. The mobile app was a great way for me to rediscover the game and my own imagination.

Thanks for sharing! I agree; the simplicity of DQ feels so refreshing when every game now feels bloated with too much content. Love the confidence of the devs to give just the right amount of content to players!

Loving all of these vids, but damn. Seeing “footage courtesy of Kikoskia” made my day, I love seeing my og RUclips subscriptions pop up from time to time.

Haha totally! Gotta give credit where credit’s due, and it also feels special to me to reference channels that have inspired me in my videos. It’s like I get to partner with them in a small way, which is fun!

This is cool, I’ve never heard of this game. The influence on Pokemon Red is so clear

Thanks so much man! I totally agree; as someone who grew up on Pokemon, it was crazy playing this game for the first time last year and seeing where it all started! I'm really just bummed I never was introduced to Dragon Quest as a kid, because it is an absolutely incredible series. Super stoked to share it with you as I'm experiencing it, bro!

Starting in the fifth game, you can even recruit monsters from random encounters.

I’ve just finished playing dq on gbc and I’m about to start dq2. Didn’t get into the series until dq8 but I’ve enjoying going back and seeing where it all started.

That’s so awesome! I’m relatively new to the series, as well, and it’s been so cool seeing how DQ’s influence has bled into so many RPG’s I’ve grown up loving. Hope you enjoyed the video!

Just got this on the switch not too long ago. At first I thought it would be so simple. While it is, it’s still fun. The grind feels rewarding, especially when you get to that next level. This is a fun game. Can’t wait to beat it and move on to the next game. I’m definitely a Dragon Quest fan. Took me long enough, but better late than never. Love this video.

I played the Switch versions of DQ I-III and I have to say that I love the art style. I mean, I know what everyone says, but if you think about it, Toriyama came to design the monsters and because of hardware limitations they had to be in pixel art on NES, and then SNES. People bash these ports because they’re not pixelated art, but I disagree as these ports have the original Toriyama art right into the game, and I think that’s beautiful.

Yeah I hear ya! I played em all on Switch, too, and while I and II did feel a little rough around the edges visually, I actually thought III looked amazing, as well. I also loved seeing those Toriyama designs in all their glory! So stoked for the HD-2D remake when it EVENTUALLY comes out. 😂

3:13 Good, I'm not the only person who hates that version's translation.

especially the 7th game which easily takes OVER 150+ hours so could DQ9 and DQ11 for its optional content.

Oh my goodness, totally. I'm actually about finished with DQ6 right now and am moving on to 7 soon. I've heard it's incredible, but I'm definitely bracing myself for the long haul!

It is in fact DQ7 is well over 150 hours DQ6 I beat in only like 60 hours.
