      Thank you so much! I’m a relative newcomer to the series, and I’ve found it utterly delightful. So honored to share my special experiences with these games with y’all!!

    Dragon quest games are absolutely a blast because the creaters really knew how to slowly introduce new things and really let you feel out your progress in contrast to the difficulty slowly raising as well. They nailed the trickle of the rpg the first time and everything where others (cough ff1) just doesn't flow as nicely

      Agreed! DQIII is still one of the purest RPG experiences I’ve ever had, and I think it’s honestly due in part to what you just said. Pacing is everything, and I love the way these games expertly parcel out the experience. DQIV, in that regard, is an absolute masterclass, as well, since it takes such a wide cast and does a deep dive on each character, all while digging a little deeper into the overall narrative thread of the story!
      Appreciate your thoughts! Hope you enjoyed the video!

    i played this game on nes system when i was kid and its still my one of the fav game.
    i also remember there is a town in this game where if you sleep in inn you get a dream about a girl, whenever she cry she drop gold, crystal or some kind of valuable thing so some bad guy kidnaped her and torture her for her tear.
    very underrated game. love this game

    Earlier this year I started playing DQ1 after finding out it was available on the Play Store for Android. Up until then I had no prior knowledge of the franchise other than it had characters designed by Akira Toriyama, that it's considered the father of JRPGs and that it's a "competitor" to Final Fantasy which I'm fairly familiar with. As soon as I started playing DQ1 it was love at first sight. I loved its simplicity and how gameplay focused it was. After finishing it I decided to give DQ4 a go, since I had heard good things about it, particularly about Torneko's chapter and how it's very unique to anything out there. Just like DQ1, I fell in love immediately and DQ4 stands as my favorite so far (I've just finished DQ2 and I'm currently playing DQ3). Anyway, love the game, its characters and soundtrack. All around a great and memorable experience. Thanks for your video on it. I'm looking forward to more!

      Thank you so much! DQ really is a special franchise, and for me, 3 and 4 were the ones that really captured me first. I’m relatively new to the series, as well, but I’ve loved my journey with the games thus far! Each one holds such a unique identity while also feeling right at home with the others. The simple but deep gameplay, the art style, and the MUSIC - there has been at least one moment in each game where a moment with a specific song has brought me to tears. Love it, and excited to share the experience with you! Thanks for sharing!

  • @tasoganedude

    That was well put together. It's really great to see back when games were constantly pushing to innovate.
    I actually never grew up playing the DQ series. The only one I ever got to play was DQ8.
    A genius way to teach players the complexity of RPGs one at a time, while not making it feel like a tutorial.

      @GamesAreCreative  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man! I’m totally with you, I didn’t get into DQ until somewhat recently, but I’ve been blown away by how incredibly well designed each game is. I knew they were a big deal for the RPG genre, but seeing how each title pushed storytelling and mechanics forward has been really cool. DQIV is definitely a special one, and it will always stick out in my memory as such a unique adventure!

    I can't believe how few views these videos have. Do you have to pay for bots to break into the algorithm these days? I don't know if you're doing these by yourself or if you have an editor or something, but you're doing it right and I know that you know you're doing it right. These videos are primo. Do not stop, do not get discouraged, if any justice is done on this Earth, your channel is about to explode.

      If you watched The Spiffing Brit's video on how to double the watch time of a video, you can help affect the RUclips algorithm think that this is a hit. Thus, making it appear on everyone's recommendation.

      Thanks so much Levi! Right now it’s just me, and I really am having such a blast. I thought about bringing on an editor if the channel was to grow enough to merit that, but I honestly just love every part of the process So much that I feel like I would miss not getting to put together videos as a whole. We’ll see, though! Right now, I’m just grateful for fact that I can make these videos and that I’m getting to share them with people!

      Thanks for the heads up man! I haven’t seen his video, but I’ll definitely add it to my list, because I’m super interested. I haven’t really given much energy to channel growth strategies at this point, because my main goal is quality and I honestly only have so much time. 😂 But if there are simple things I can start incorporating to increase the reach of my videos, that would be great!

    So in short this game has great character development.
    That's one of the main things I like about Xenoblade and Trails and something I like to do whenever creating a story. It's easy to just flesh out your main characters, but it's impressive and immersive when you care about even minor NPCs and they feel like they could be the protagonist of their own story.

    • @GamesAreCreative
      @GamesAreCreative  Год назад

      Pretty late responding to this 😂, but I appreciate you sharing! I totally agree; I feel like the way writers treat their minor characters says everything about the intentionality and care they put into their stories. Games like this challenge me to put more care into the little details as I work on my own content!

    I knew it as Dragon Warrior IV and I played it on my older brother’s NES on a b&w tv we got to share between us. Looking back, this game is my introduction to the entire RPG genre and paved the foundation to how I view fantasy in general. I have had a little bit of fun playing video games since then, but none of them compare to this 8-bit masterpiece in black-and-white. Now, I am getting back into TTRPGs, and that’s why I am returning to thinking about this game…
    PSYCH!!! I definitely bought a DS just because I learned it was going by Dragon Quest nowadays…and then bought it on mobile the second I saw it 😂 now that I am too far removed from video games to bother trying to play this more, I am going to use it to heavily influence my TTRPG campaigns 👍🏻
    This review’s finale is beautiful! I remember my older brother teaching me to talk to everyone and examine everything. This lesson was so impressed upon me as a child that I have logged so many irl adventures and acquired so many real treasures since then. Thank you for putting such a warm light on an epic game.

      Thanks so much, Emmanuel! I couldn’t agree more; IV and V were such special experiences that remind me of the unique power video game experiences can have. The way both games immerse you in these relatable, down-to-earth experiences while also facing you with crazy, outlandish adventures is just amazing. I experienced both on DS, too, and would be stoked for a re-release on console!
      Glad you enjoyed the video! Planning to tackle V in a video real soon!

      Oh my goodness, I’m so stoked for that episode. It’s coming soon, and it’s been pretty special for me to work on. DQ4 and 5 are a couple of the most unique adventures I’ve ever played, and especially 5 pressed me to look inward in a way that only games like The Witcher 3 or Undertale have done.
      I’m so glad you’ve appreciated my reflections on these games, because that’s really been one of the most rewarding parts of this channel for me! DQ4 and 5, though, have been particularly special to me for some reason and have been a real privilege to experience!

      @@GamesAreCreative Back in the early internet of the 90s, I remember reading about DQ5 (since it didn't come out here) and it just seemed absolutely bonkers. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! And I completely understand where you’re coming from. I never got into the series until recently, and it’s been quite the undertaking. For me, though, it’s honestly been such a blast to experience how each entry pushed RPG’s forward in such unique ways. Like, the art style and general gameplay remains pretty consistent throughout, but each game offers something totally unique and creative to the series and the genre as a whole! Didn’t expect to fall in love with this series as much as I have, but I’m glad I did!
