    Love the positive energy.
    As far as all the different party combinations, on the GameFaqs forums many years ago we made sure that every possible combination was beaten by somebody somewhere. That was a blast.

      Thanks man! Haha that’s amazing. It’s crazy to me just how many combinations and set-ups you can make from just 6 classes. Of course, some are more helpful than others 😂, but that allows players to modulate difficulty for themselves, which is really cool!

    While we can all agree that this game may seem simple in comparison to later ones, one cannot deny that that simpleness is also what gave Final Fantasy I a rare (nowadays for triple-A titles) sense of charm that endures to this day.
    Also, without with game, we wouldn't have the glory that is 8-Bit Theater!

      Totally. I love JRPG’s, don’t get me wrong, but it was so refreshing to play one that wasn’t bogged down with a heavy plot or like 6 different interlocking combat systems. I admire the complexity of this genre, but sometimes the level of investment required is more than I’m willing to give at the moment. 😂 I had a blast experiencing the simplicity of this game, and I appreciate that it’s still totally enjoyable today to just pick up and play!

    Ah yes, games back then where they ask the player to make uninformed choices.
    Character creation, job selection, stat distribution, and it all started from tabletop RPGs.
    On the flipside; picking your party's classes at the beginning of the game allows you to create your own difficulty for your run (before Dark Souls did it).
    And if you don't know what to pick, just go with the default comp (Warrior, Thief, White Mage, and Black Mage).

      Very true! There’s always pros and cons to design choices, and even though this game’s set-up makes things kinda difficult for first-time players, I honestly love the replay value here. So cool how you can modulate your own difficulty and choose what kind of adventure you want to have. Feels more reminiscent of western RPG’s like Elder Scrolls and Dark Souls than even other titles from its own series!
