I first heard this song on a Chicago radio station in late spring 1995. I immediately went to the nearest music store and bought the CD. I played the f*ck out of it that that year.
Got the CD in '95, popped it into the system, and my wife and I just sat there going, "Woah." One of those rare times we were on the same page musically (other than classical).
Saw Joan and her band at Graffiti in Pittsburgh circa 1995. Still remains the greatest concert I’ve seen. Just electric! Her voice , band and stage presence…unbelievable!!
Rocks in 2018, even better so that my daughter born in 1998 found a voice of courage through this song and helps a guy who grew up in the era of REM and Nirvana connect with her better!!!
In 2002 I walked by a place that has a sign that said she was performing live that night... so I walked in. Blown away! To this day, I see her any chance I get! She never disappoints!
I heard "One of Us" the only Song Played on the Radio here in Peru back in 1996 and decided to Buy the Album, and I fell in Love with the first Song in "Relish", this One. True Talent back then and even more these Days, were talent is really lacking
One of the better live performances of this song. I rolled my eyes when I first heard "One of Us". Little did I know it was the weakest song on "Relish". A friend later played the album at a party, and the moment she began laying down St. Teresa, I was a Joan Osborne fan. By the time she was done crooning "Lumina", I was pretty sure I'd never love another woman.
The interesting fact about the "Relish album" is that the record company force them to put "One of Us" on the album because they thought the album was to bluesy, and wouldn't sell. They disguised a blues album into an alternative rock album.
wow....in the 90-ies I got my head stuck up so deep in grung-musics' ass....that I totally missed out on this...glad to discover this great album still now...
This was the song that truly blew me away, not "One of Us" even it is a pleasant enough pop song. Just came back to searching for her on RUclips after reading a book on female mystics called "Wild Mercy" by Miribai Starr. I don't think it's just about a mother selling drugs.
"One of us" made me seek out the album. Then it kicks off with this! A fabulous opener to a great record! Can't believe this came out back in '95! But surely timeless..!
Joan Osborne is great. I bought Relish back in 1996. I didn't realize Flea played bass guitar on the album as a cameo. St Therese is one of my favorite tracks on the album. She's got the singing quality of Stevie Nicks and that's saying a lot.
Saw her do this in her set on the Lilith Fair thing in the 90's. Outdoor venue, she really cut it loose on the choruses (this is restrained by comparison). Quite a show!
I followed her for 6 yrs before relish and always was blown away by her live performance Please check out her live at delta 88 cd and you will see what raw talent truly is..........................Peace! Ramblin
She had just gotten off a shift at the diner and didn't have time to change before the show. That's why she walks in after the song starts. Music was just her side gig. (Actually it's the costume she wears in the music video for this song 😅)
This song and her vocals are beyond epic
Joan SMOKES any female vocalist today and she was so Gorgeous as well!
I still have her cd from 1995 . One of the most underrated singers in the 90s
Absolutely, and one of my favorite female singers.

This song is SO under-rated!
This is a stellar performance. I'm speechless.
Agree 👍

Great version!
My new favorite 90s song. What a perfect performance.I wonder why I'd never heard it until yesterday.
Joan is FREAKIN' AMAZING!
So good. The good ones do not get the respect they deserve.
No doubt
The music industry is so corrupt. You have to be slutty and talentless to get anywhere. 🙄
She sold 5 million records.
I lovre her. That voice wow.
Every stone a story like a Rosary, Beautiful ending!
Saw Joan and her band at Graffiti in Pittsburgh circa 1995. Still remains the greatest concert I’ve seen. Just electric! Her voice , band and stage presence…unbelievable!!
Amazing voice and performer.
All her songs tell a cool story,
Rocks in 2018, even better so that my daughter born in 1998 found a voice of courage through this song and helps a guy who grew up in the era of REM and Nirvana connect with her better!!!
Joan, you are talented beyond belief.
She is so beautiful, so damn great, just adore her.....and that voice!!
she is 🔥🔥
This song ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lorraine Ashby n
A Beautiful Talented Soul.
I remember seeing this when it aired. It blew my mind then and still does
In 2002 I walked by a place that has a sign that said she was performing live that night... so I walked in. Blown away! To this day, I see her any chance I get! She never disappoints!
Probably my favorite female singer . What fine powerful voice. Sure wish the best success for her. Tremendous & dynamic she is...!
She’s great!

@@KingKull1971It was a good move. It sold 5 million copies.
Really? I loooove One Of Us. The weakest song 🎵 on the Reliah album and the only song on that album that I do not like is Dracula Moon.
@@Mario_N64I thought that it sold 3 million. Wow, more than I thought.
I fell in love with Joan after One Of Us.
My dad bought this album after seeing her perform "St. Teresa" on television.
I was barely just born but I love it nonetheless
I like the edginess of this version!
Joan is wonderful.
Great Song , Great Video, thanks for sharing
Beauty and that Voice!

You should have seen her in the 80s. Priceless.
I love that "electric" touch here.
Dave always had the best talent on his show.

Goose bumps!! Fantastic!!

I saw her support Bon Jovi 20 odd years ago on both nights and she rocked
#JoanOsborne, you are a #RockGoddess.
#WeStillLoveYou, 25 years on.
XOXOXOXOXO
Musically perfect.

i didn't find it online. The Delta 88 bootleg is not the complete concert. Do you have the complete one?
Joan frikkin ROCKS.
Jennifer Lawrence can play her in the biopic. :-)
I wanna cover this, so freaking good
The first song from Relish album that I like.
Wow
5/13/96' I had just turned 16.
This song flat-out kicks ass. Transfixing.
She sang the shit out of that song.
She did this for transatlantic sessions! TUNE!
WOW!!
She rocks
One artist who sings from inside the music instead just performing an act...
She is so badass
Ah, she had fun. That's when an artist is at their best.
What happened to her since that time ?
Charlie Quintana on drums...RIP

Great pipes and raw sex appeal to the highest power ~
Thanks Dave..2019 I have to go back to find good stuff but its always good and politically incorrect..wurst fisherman ever..
Does anyone have any idea why she's dressed like a diner waitress here?
