I would say that Pete is a better guitarist than George of the Beatles, but he can't come even close to the writing ability of either John, Paul or even George. You could argue about who's the better drummer Keith Moon or John Bonham but that's it. I still think Bonham is the better Drummer though. Nirvana is definitely overrated though.
