That fall I started my freshman year at Columbia College Chicago and was in math class when a girl I had gotten to know turned to me and asked if I wanted to meet Tori. I was like WUT?? Cut to the McCormack Center and we waited for hours outside her two tour buses. When her show ended and the crowds gathered around us, she emerged. So tiny in her blue hooded sweater, waving at us and looking like a pixie. I had had repeated dreams in high school that I walked in a room and we saw each other and hugged. As she made her way to me, I started shaking. When she stepped in front of me I asked if I could hug her. She whispered "Sure." As we hugged she asked my name and I honestly have no memory after that. She was incredibly down to earth and kind to her fans, even remembering many of them from previous concerts and meeting them before. She asked the girl who came with me how her girlfriend was. Unbelievably real, kind woman.
I feel like no one's ever going to believe me but if you watch the end of her performing Muhammad my friend when she was here promoting Pele I could swear she reaches her right hand up and squeezes Dave's tushy!!
