I got to ask Tori this question as part of a larger AOL Interview for her Native Invaders tour, obviously, she didn't disappoint. She hung out and met a few of us, gave the most heartfelt hugs and just made each of us feel so seen and special. She has been the hugest inspiration, both personal and artistic for me. Here is a song of mine she has inspired; ruclips.net/video/Ou4z6NBeAks/видео.html
You all prolly dont care but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Martin Eric Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
She's simply one of the finest artists of the last 100 years. She's taught me so much about writing, art and performance just by watching her and learning her songs. I'll never stop learning from her and loving her for all she's done in my life and the lives of those who love her work.
She's so intelligent. She understands how to respond, and how not to respond. The Poet Ted Hughes, once wrote how "Applause is the beginning of abuse." Admiration is an exchange of power between admirer and artist that is a power that can be, and often is, afforded the artist, as easily as it can be taken from them. If an artist allows that admiration to become all encompassing, they can be deeply hurt by the rejection of their artistic abilities as well, as overly flattered by the praise. She is a wise being. This is why in spite of all of that, I adore her wisdom as much as I do her art and music. Thanks for posting this.
I would have to agree with what you say. She's an incredibly wise being, and very down to earth. She's been so kind to my daughters and I, to all of us really. I got through life because of her music. I am overwhelmingly grateful
She's the real deal. I met her in Chicago in 2001 after a show, outside with other fans. She remembered many of them from previous shows and was asking follow-up questions. Impressive. I had had dreams in high school where I hugged her, so being at college that fall and now meeting her, I asked if I could hug her. She said softly, "Sure," and as we were hugging, she asked my name. But I remember nothing after that because I was so overwhelmed and thrilled. Tori exudes soul and love, so we all want to connect with her.
I met her 2007 adp tour Toronto. She accepted my gift, portfolio of my artwork, some heavily inspired * by her songs, esp b sides. The next show, couple days later, in Buffalo NY, she performed hereinmyhead and upside down, previously never before on the tour / never in the same set. AND she performed as Clyde alterego, my fav, and also the character that most resonated with those songs. I will never get over how awesome she is
I met her once and didn't say much, but she did play the song I requested a few shows later in Miami. What struck me was the amount of time she spent with the people who did share. It was a long line and she met everyone, many who took quite a bit of time with her. She was gracious to everyone.
The pleasure is truly all mine! I've always wanted to ask her this and her response just reminded me why we are all so dedicated to her after all these years, she is not just insanely talented, but a warm, gracious, giving and present woman.
i haven't listened to Tori much at all since my youth..she was like a friend through some lonely days back then. got to see her in concert once for slg tour, but am now deep down the tori rabbit hole and can't get enough!
Coincidentally I have heard two songs of her today...and while listening I began to feeling sad. Saw the video of her..watched it and realized, that I also become old. And that I never had sorta fairytale with a Tori like girl.
I had the honor of meeting her a few times, she is 100% a wonderful human ♥ she really does do her best to take time with her fans. Her music got me through surgeries and hospital stays.
I’m loving seeing Tori everywhere again I love Torio so much I have since I was a teenager and I’m 45 now I love love love love love love love love her❤❤❤❤❤
I know a few Tori Amos diehard fans, and they are all gay men. I find that very fascinating. They know her catalog inside and out, every lyric, the story behind every song, etc.
I think the lotta pianos tour was ‘05. I saw her in Clearwater that tour. Been fan since ‘92 but had nvr met her. Well I did that day and was shocked and mortified at the level of bawling I did! Seriously I’m pretty sure I couldn’t say anything. Just cry. Whatcha gonna do?
when i see tori-fans/toriferanze/whatever they usually come off as so neurotically or indulgently clueless.......however if i were talking to her i'd go in my own version of that direction too almost guaranteed....
I think some of the time pressure too is how crazy the fans get. When people start getting overly dramatic and sobbing and grabbing at her, it increases the tension in meet & greets and they get shorter. Like, deep breath, people. She is not your therapist. Please don't maul the singer before the show. XD (Also - great hair!)
I love being a super fan, I'm a Tori superfan, but a Bjork superfan foremost. But she's the opposite she can't stand superfans!!! Thinks it's rediculous, I even have a Bjork tattoo on my hand, I want a Tori one on the other hand one day
Watch its hands. Pointer finger means discipline on the right hand. Middle finger means responsibility. Ring finger means love. Pinky finger means balance. On the left hand pointer finger means severity , middle finger means kingdom, ring finger means mercy, and pinky means balance. The thumbs' mean functionality. This person hurts person look up Jaron Lanier and look at their hand movements.

I agree with your full comment, although Ted Hughes barely had a moral compass.

That is one super cool gracious gifted lady.
I love her... She is so spiritual and deep. Blessed be Tori 💫
The day I discovered you, way back in 92, everything changed 💙

Yes, someone asked the question I've been curious to know from Tori... You asked it perfectly!
Thank you! Her answer was so beautiful, it shows why we are so dedicated, decade after decade - what did we do to deserve her?!
I am a huge fan of Tori’s music and was lucky enough to see her play live twice! Such great songwriting and singing!
Thank you for sharing this, Brett! What a fantastic question! And Tori gives just the kind of response one would expect.
The pleasure is truly all mine! I've always wanted to ask her this and her response just reminded me why we are all so dedicated to her after all these years, she is not just insanely talented, but a warm, gracious, giving and present woman.
Insanely wonderful question. Tori is so special 🐌💕
Thank you! An even better answer!

She's like a dear friend who is always ready for us to return with no judgments for our absence!

Wow. Just wow.
Isn't she the best?!
@@BrettRobinsGleason Yes she is
Tori is an incredible musician and artist.
lovely...

I hope she gave you a big hug!
@@BrettRobinsGleason no. I mean it was so bad, she looked scared!!
Thank you for uploading only this snippet i did watch the whole interview but this question was very well thought.
I'm honored, thank you!

Right? It's so hard to not get all flustered in front of her! But she is so cool and calm, she really does help ground you when you meed her...
Love you mom

Such a good point, time makes desperate tori fools of us all!
(and thank you! I've since cut it...hope you still like it! xBG)
Good job! I saw this in the full video when it came out. Did you memorize that verbatim, practice with friends, or how did you ask that perfectly?
Thank you! I kinda just always wondered this and when we had the opportunity to ask a question I offered this one :)
@@BrettRobinsGleason Well, the wording and delivery were immaculate. Amazing.
momma tori
My acchiles still crackles.
Such a great question! So if she wants letters, how do we send her one?
The best way to get her a letter is at a Show. If there is no meet and greet that day try to find Mark or Marcel, or even John
How do I write her a letter?
If I ever meet Tori Iwill break down on my knees
What now, Tori? Checkmate! lol
Taxi ride

Bjork rocks
Haha being a bjork super fan must be fun!
This vid is uploaded by the guy who asked the question?
Yes, that would be me
This guy looks like Aaron Desener
Guy here - taking that as compliment, ty, he's super talented (and I find him rather handsome ;)
@@BrettRobinsGleason it was meant as such!
Great musician, but she seemed quite impatient with me when we met. I didn't get a great impression. I suppose she's just human.
her honest answer: its creepy as f**k !
I Love Amy Winehouse. I am no digging Tori amos.
"tend to want to hug and cry when we meet you"
Lol..... hand in your man card
lol I'll gladly hand in my 'man card' if it means I can emote and connect with other humans!
