Tori Amos and Tool are 2 of my favorite artists! This is a match made in heaven!!!! Too bad they didn't become a couple, get married, and have babies! Could you imagine what their kids would be like??
Jim has a beautiful wife and a beautiful little innocent girl, (3 years ago. Maybe more beautiful kids now). The worst thing a person in the entertainment industry could do is marry another person from the entertainment industry. I think the divorce rate is about 100%, and the kids are messed up. Why? It is an industry that exists with out reality, (they make up their own).
"I call him up when I'm feeling terrible and he sings me lullabies." I had a friend like that, but instead if singing, he'd drive two hours and come over.
Maynard has suffered for years with stage fright, I saw Tool in concert many years ago and he stood back by the drums the whole time. That's the story I have heard anyway.
That...is not AT ALL WHATSOEVER why he does that. Good lord. It's simply to not distract so much from the rest of the band and to let the MUSIC itself be the focus.

in my heart Tori Amos, has another name I personally see her as "Inanna" or, "Ishta", the 1st Sumerian female Goddess, The Lady Of Heaven, I think that Maynard Keenan is Enlil, another Sumerian God, they're both very professional & both very modest, showing compassion & truth, among many teacher's through music they absolutely outshine amongst a countless number of stars.
I met Maynard in 2004...I was 15 years old-enjoying APC at the EPTX Don Haskins center....i was lucky enough to get backstage passes, alongside my cousin....after the show was over, we lined up to get into the backstage...i saw James Iha btw :)....I waited inside the room where all the people have to wait...Twiggy came in, wheeling a butt plug of a horse tail lol pretty trippy experience....then Maynard came...sat next to the couch I was on...he was chill, spoke a few with us...and my cousin begged me to ask him for an autograph...I was so reluctant to do it...I didn’t want to and I didn’t feel comfortable doing it, but being the person I was, I did it anyways....well....I was literally embarrassed and begrudged that’s night because he gave me a short and stinging lecture as to why I should not idolize him, or anyone else for that matter.....he wasn’t nice and he wasn’t welcoming...but that wasn’t his fault...but rather mine. I’m 30 now, and I no longer dislike him bcuz of that. I understand...except I’ll never forget the day Maynard called me out. How’s my cousin doing? Well, she’s still not a nice person, and yet Maynard will never know how bad I felt that day...Whatever lol Im Glad Tool kicked Taylor’s swifts ass this year :)
He was wrong. It brings up mankind to idolize people who are worthy and good, (defined by Ayn Rand), as it makes us strive to be better people ourselves, and visa versa to idolize people who are confused. The trick is,---knowing the difference between good and evil. I went to HS and wrestled with Jim, and he is a good man, (slightly darkened and confused by his industry IMO), but he does have a good point, because we can no longer tell good from evil, which is why we are falling to evil. Jim is an advocate of individualism, and using your own mind, and I do give him credit there,---but he has a way to go in search of truth in reality, (muhammad would not be his friend). He does live life the way man should live life, "Thinking and achieving". I wish him and his family the best. I wonder if he would have given you an autograph if you had told him it was for your "hate" list? hehehe :)
@@EarthSurferUSA that is interesting to know. My dad was a collegiate wrestler who was three years older than MJK and growing up as an only child-I was always pretty conscientious about myself and my behavior, so the rejection was expected. Its not like I hadn't already heard the whole spiel or some dumb lecture explaining to me the facts of life. lol "I learned the facts of life - from watching the facts of life..." But it did feel pretty depleting, especially when I did look up to him...not idolize, but I respected him. I still do, it's just now, I understand that our own egos combat everything and anything extraterrestrial to us, even if we might be wrong...I guess its like our own defense mechanism...except, I was only 14...its not like I posed that much of a threat lol. I like to pretend it was all just a silly misconception.....

they sound fucking phenomenal together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no , maynard do it alone
Tori Amos and Tool are 2 of my favorite artists! This is a match made in heaven!!!! Too bad they didn't become a couple, get married, and have babies! Could you imagine what their kids would be like??
Jim has a beautiful wife and a beautiful little innocent girl, (3 years ago. Maybe more beautiful kids now). The worst thing a person in the entertainment industry could do is marry another person from the entertainment industry. I think the divorce rate is about 100%, and the kids are messed up. Why? It is an industry that exists with out reality, (they make up their own).
Tori Amos is a fucking beast.........Maynard is a fucking beast.....nuff said.
Tori Amos is a terrible Kate Bush rip off.
mojopin 70 hush now
Why?
mojopin 70 she is good.
She is a terrible Kate Bush rip off.
Their voices give me life!
Can you imagine Maynard singing Little Earthquakes on acoustic guitar? Or Tori singing Forty Six & 2? A piano interpretation?
Be musical heaven!
I nostalgia'd so hard. These two were my adolescence.
OMGOMGOMG DREAM TEAM!! Tool, Tori, and Trent- Holy Trinity of the 90's!!💯🌟🤯💙
"I call him up when I'm feeling terrible and he sings me lullabies." I had a friend like that, but instead if singing, he'd drive two hours and come over.
More beautiful each time I hear it…something mythological, and deeply resonant about it.
😴🌋🎶
1:55 - she just let's him sing! She started, then she just lets him sing.
Maynard has suffered for years with stage fright, I saw Tool in concert many years ago and he stood back by the drums the whole time. That's the story I have heard anyway.
While this may be true, he does have problems with bright lights, which is the main reason he stays further back on stage.
@@JermaLover He could be up front without a light on him if he wanted.
He just wants to sing the song without being an "entertainer" .
That...is not AT ALL WHATSOEVER why he does that. Good lord. It's simply to not distract so much from the rest of the band and to let the MUSIC itself be the focus.
@Gene Reibelt He said something about how he just needed to be able to hear everyone else playing and it sounds better with him in the back.
I saw Tool live and yeah
He mostly lurked in the shadows, kind of next to the drummer
Bro this is so sick
Tool and Tori are my favorite. I saw Tori back in the nineties. Never got to see TOOL. Perhaps in the next life or maybe I'll be the one on stage 😉
I was only 10 or 11 at the time, so I didn't know enough to care about this performance, but it will always be beautiful. Glad I can enjoy it now.
I was old enough and I've never forgotten it. Today I'm watching it for the first time since I saw it on mtv back then and I'm all goosebumps. Glad you can enjoy it now too :)
They are great compliments to one another. They should form a super group together.
Cuanto respeto esbosaba Maynard..en ningun momento intento apagar la luz de tori, sabiendo que un leve grito de el, rompia toda la accion excelente de ella..unos grosos
Good stuff. I remember this from late 90's..
And Maynards part complimented Tori's part nicely!
Great memories, love this era.
sort of. but they could have done more.
Where has video been all my life... god bless the RUclips algorithm.
This is my favourite duet in history always has been. Absolutely perfect!
Damn, Tori's voice and beautiful eyes are turning this metalhead into a puddle of mush.
caught that too ;)
Such an awesome performance! Tori's piano chops shine here... 👍
Omg I love this so much!!! Everytime I watch it I get goosebumps. Tori and Tool are two of my absolute favorites.
Me too me too!!
I love how Maynard is slightly intimidated being a powerhouse himself
The word is reticent*. Humble. Generous. He could've upstaged her but he loves her.
i wish the crowd wasnt so loud :/
+Mr.Mop and annoying
+Naomi Lily Make sure you look at the freak in the mirror
+Naomi Lily really in another comment oh goddamnit... I said learn to swim
+Naomi Lily No i think you are the most annoying one here dear
yeah, their screaming ruins the performance. they need to shut up and scream when it's done. it's about manners
SHE IS BEAUTIFUL
Simply put, freaking amazing. Two beautifully talented artists jamming out together. I wish I could rock it out on a piano like that. One day I'll own a piano and teach myself to play. It's on my bucket list, believe me. :)
And who is saying Maynard can't sing? he has an amazing voice!! Awesome pairing...love them both!! Thanks for sharing!! :)
Who the fuck said that?
Something about this is so heartwarming, it always makes me happy.
I've seen her videos many times and yet each time she still amazes me. She truly is channelling the Goddess
Tori Amos is a serious, amazing artist. If you haven't heard her first album, it's a necessity.
They have a great chemistry, wish they did more together.
Peanut butter hand? Awesome lyrics that I can relate too.
I've watched this a thousand times.
And each time I'm thankful that the world hasn't ended from its sheer awesomeness.
This was Tori's stage and Maynard just slipped in, sang a beautiful duet and slipped out. What a guy, what a professional.
Lyrics:
Muhammad my friend
It's time to tell the world
We both know it was a girl
Back in Bethlehem
And on that fateful day
When she was crucified
She wore Shiseido Red
And we drank tea by her side
Sweet sweet
Used to be so sweet to me
Muhammad my friend
I'm getting very scared
Teach me how to love
My brothers who don't know the law
And what about the deal
On the flying trapeze
Got a peanut butter hand
But honey do drop in
At the Dew Drop Inn
Sweet sweet
Between the boys and the bees
Moses I know
I know you've seen the fire
But you've never seen fire
Until you've seen Pele blow
And I've never seen light
But I sure have seen gold
And Gladys save a place for me on your grapevine
Till I get my own TV show
Ashre ashre ashre ashre
And if I lose my Cracker Jacks at the tidal wave
I got a place in the Pope's rubber robe
Muhammad my friend
It's time to tell the world
We both know it was a girl
Back in Bethlehem
3:48 such sweet friendship
I just love both of these artists so much!
I love them both SO much 🥰🥰🥰 what a wonderful treat! Thank you for posting this.
Loving Maynard and Tori since I was 13 and now 41 makes so sweet to hear them sing together❤❤❤
in my heart Tori Amos, has another name I personally see her as "Inanna" or, "Ishta", the 1st Sumerian female Goddess, The Lady Of Heaven, I think that Maynard Keenan is Enlil, another Sumerian God, they're both very professional & both very modest, showing compassion & truth, among many teacher's through music they absolutely outshine amongst a countless number of stars.
Ah that must have sucked.
Soour Lemon lol yes it definitely taught me humiliation and since then I have never and will never ask a famous person for an autograph 🤷🏻♀️
Lol
Ok they are two of favorite artist. Way cool. It is Tori's song. And Maynard knew how to mesh with it.
This is my favorite video of her. Genius and gorgeous.
Ive been trying to find this song all week! Used to have it on my ipod years ago but lost it & forgot what she & the song was called, so at work today I heard a song that sounded like this singer, so I shazamed it & it was tori amos - spark. So I typed tori Amos & Maynard in RUclips and boom.. there it is! Awesome
I KNOW THE PIECES FIT
You people must have been deprived of oxygen as infants. Her voice is through the roof.
Valon Selimaj Totally. Tool is one of my favorites, Tori Amos isn't really my cup of tea, but damn, she is a fantastic singer. This was live, and she was pitch perfect, voice like warm honey. Soft, beautiful, and at times powerful. Maynard played a more complimentary role here, because it's Tori's song, but both singers were perfect.
Sure would've been nice to hear Maynard's parts without the teeny boppers screaming over him. No wonder he looks pissed in this video.
This pretty much, when Maynard sings you shut the F up and listen!
dalerii1 yes sir! :') *salute*
dalerii1 yes sir! :') *salute*
dalerii1 yes sir! :') *salute*
Maynard definitely had to restrain himself. That's probably a reason why he changes his look so much.
all these years later this still makes me cry and I just dont know why.
Beautiful... These are real musicians. Thank you very much!
vintage Maynard and his signature (rocking back and forth)
