People always say 'random dictionary flip' when they get sick and tired of explaining it to people, especially when it only started as one of those you-had-to-be-there things. Plus it's a funny old dictionary that only has one word per page.

Letterman didn't even have the courtesy to introduce them and tell a few words about the song they were singing. Instead he made a joke about having a vacation home in Stockholm. Then he "welcomed" them to the studio and called them KIDS! This is one of those moments where his assumed "humor" failed. He was down right rude. He didn't bother to even get up from the chair to go over and congratulate them -- much less invite them to sit for 30 seconds -- and the odd part is that they've probably sat on more couches in their life than him. He fucked this one up.

    Lyrics :
Oh the bitter winds are coming in
And I'm already missing the summer
Star comes cold but I've been told
That I was born to endure this kind of weather
And it's you I find like a ghost in my mind
I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
Now so much I know that things just don't grow
If you don't blessed them with your patience
And I've been there before I held up the door
For every stranger with a promise
But I'm holding back, that's the strength that I lack
Every morn' keeps returning at my window
And it brings me to you and I won't just pass through
But I'm not asking for a storm
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
And yes I might have lied to you
You wouldn't better feel for knowing of the truth
I was frightened but I held fast
I need you now at long last
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you

C A Campbell Klara wrote this song at the age of 17 with some help from Johanna. That's what I call talent.

It's a nice song but not THAT remarkable that they should write it. The structure and progressions are coutry songwriting 101 and as they knew people who played and listened to a lot of old country music, they've picked up a lot of the cliches like bending their Bs, vocally mimicing slide guitar voicings.
I think it just shows how easy it is to write a country song, their more original work is far better and much more interesting.

Could you please upload a few your easy country songs that are better than this?

ok it's dictionary definition 'remarkable', but not remarkable in the way in which that word is more often used these days.
I didn't say it was bad Charlie. My point is that to call it 'remarkable' is patronising. Why shouldn't they write a good song, people wouldn't say it was 'remarkable' if an old guy had written it. We'll know if it's truely remarkable in 40 or 50 years, but for now it's just a really nice, well constructed, catchy as hell, song.
oh....you want easy country songs better than this? Without straying too far from the topic I'll start with Folsom Prison Blues... might take a while to look through the next 60years of country music but i think i'll find a few.
