  • I've always been a big fan of puzzles games, and over the last several months, have grown to enjoy the spine-chilling feel of horror games (within limits...lol), and from what I've heard - Little Nightmares is a perfect blend of both! Never played them, but wanted to for a very long time - and with 3 of these puppies out now, I think it's time for me to finally check them out.
I really hope you have an awesome time, and if you do, it would be amazing if you'd consider subscribing.
    Thanks,
    Benjamight

19:02 you fell down that staircase twice and never noticed the Flotsum that was under it lol
1:21:52 "It's like children sometimes"😅 Yeah about that lol
1:29:57 "Super cool, the Nomes are awesome, I don't know if they'll be apart of this next section or not" O you sweet summer child lol😅
1:26:12 Since you've already played The Residence I can point out this awesome detail. Look at the Nomes shadows in that room. They aren't in the shape of Nomes but children. A subtle hint as to the reveal in The Residence. Most people don't notice it on first palythrough but it's such a cool detail.
Then there's also all the child drawings and child toys they have also hinting at it.
Also everything in this DLC is new area. The only times areas from the main game are seen in these DLCs is the first 10 mins of the Depths and the final scene of both the Depths and the Residence.
tbh I do not blame you getting stuck on that minecart puzzle. I've played through this game like twice and it even took me multiple mins to remmeber what the solution was lol. I thought the wall of drawers puzzle was fairly simple. It was dark up there because the game was telling you that's not where you needed to go(unless to get a secret Flotsum) and the only drawers you needed to mess with was the one near the bottom for once you push the rolley thing to the correct position you go as far right on the drawer wall as you can and drop onto it and jump over like you did. It is also possible to completely ignore the drawer wall and if you position the rolley thing correctly and time it right with the rocking of the Maw you can just make it over there with two jumps
Prob my biggest critism of this DLC is the Nome AI being a bit finicky and they often getting stuck on something or stop following us. Bit annoying at times but it's not huge issue and easily fixable.
I def get being a little disappointed in there not being a new enemy like last DLC but given the main focus of this DLC was on the Nomes I don't think there would have been time to have a whole new enemy and if they did have one they prob wouldn't get enough time to shine having to share time with the Nomes. Tbf the third DLC doesn't really have a new enemy either other than those little shadow children but no new big boss. There are some awesome new original monsters in Little Nightmares II and Very Little Nightmares tho so you'll def get your wish then lol. I do really enjoy the Janitor sections in this DLC tho. Personally I think he's scarier here than in the main game because the fact we are in complete darkness basically makes us blind just like him. I do agree it's a bit far fetched to assume the Janitor is bouncing between the main game and the DLC in such a short time tho I will say the two areas are quite close on the Maw so it's def possible.
This DLC did show us two new places on the Maw tho. The Engine/Boiler Room and the Hideaway(where the Nomes live). I really love the revelation that the Nomes are the ones responsible for powering the ship. They aren't just stowaways, they are workers(which makes even more sense given the revelation in The Residence). They are part of the Maw's ecosystem.
This is just a theory of mine that I just thought of but we start the DLC with the Furnace off, what if most of the time the Furnace is off or at least very low power but what if the reason the Nomes turned on the Furnace is because the Feeders had arrived on their boat so the Furnace needed to be turned on so the Maw could rise out of the sea and welcome them and also to power up all the Kitchen appliances for the Chef's to start preparing all the food.
We also get to see where the Nomes live in the Hideaway and I love how peaceful yet kinda sad it is in that Hideaway especially knowing what they really are. This world does not like them but they find joy where they can. Also having the second DLC focus on Nomes is so smart given how the third one ends.
Also this has kinda been mentioned before but the Little Nightmares games have major inspiration from Studio Ghibli. Espeically the Maw. The Maw's outer design is similar to Howl's Moving Castle tho one is on water the other on land. A bunch of the Maw interiors are reminiscent of the interiors in Spirited Away. The Feeders are very reminiscent of the glutonous pigs from Spirited Away and the Nomes putting the coal in the furnace is very reminiscent of the Soot sprites putting coal in the furnace in Spirited Away. Tho where Studio Ghibli films tend to be overall light with a touch of darkness, Little Nightmares is dark with a touch of darkness surrounded in darkness lol.
Can't wait for your reaction to the third DLC especially the ending lol.

Yeah, I agree - Janitor was way more creepy here, because of the lights situation. And the fact they have one point where you have to walk behind him and can not see your own character at all, was a nice touch. I totally missed the little shadows... I'll have to go back and look at that now. I agree and love that the nomes were the focus of this DLC, because like you said, it really sets things up for that next one. Wow, what a DLC that was.
I love your theory about why the furnace had to be turned on, and I could totally see that as a possibility. I think the way each chapter in this game, shows you more of the Maw ecosystem, and how it all works together. It really makes me want to jump straight into Little Nightmares II, but I'm going to resist... at least for a little bit. I've learned that people (and myself) can get burnt out very quickly if I spend too much time on a particular game. I am VERY much looking forward to it though. :-)

@@BenjamightGaming I totally get taking a little break between games to not get burn out. And hey I geuss that gives you time to check out the 2017 comics you were interested about lol. I'm def excited for when you eventually get to Little Nightmares II tho cause my god is it good. I actually originally experienced Little Nightmares 1(+DLCs) through let's plays because back then being able to play most games myself wasnt on the table but I waited years till I was able to play Little Nightmares II myself staying away from all spoilers and let's plays of it and only first played it a month ago. I was so worried Id build up these years of anticipation for nothing but man it was so worth it to hold off till I could play it myself(and then right after played Very Little Nightmares and read all the comics and listened to the Sounds of Nightmares cause I'm so invested and in love with this franchise now).I love the first one and its DLCs but I think I love the second game a bit more especially how it connects to the first game but also it's own story is incredible not to mention how stunning it looks and how amazing the enemies and lore is in it. The less you know about the second game the better but I expect you'll enjoy it at least on par with the first game.
O I'm going to just go ahead and mention this now. There are no DLCs for the second game, or at least nothing like the first games DLCs. There is a DLC for Little Nightmares II called the Nome's Attic DLC and it is basically unlocks a small area in the main game with 5-10 min of extra content that is missable while playing the main game but very easy to find if you look for it(which you def would lol). It's a cool neat thing and does have a little bit of lore attached to it and is kinda fun but is nowhere near as essential or important as the first game's DLCs so is not as necessary to have but if you wish to experience everything this game has to offer then def get it but if you don't already have it and want to bypass it since it's nowhere near as substantial as the Secrets of the Maw DLCs you won't be missing out on too much. If you own the "Little Nightmares II Deluxe Edition" or the "Little Nightmares II Digital Content Bundle" on Steam you already own this DLC. TLDR its a pretty short DLC with not too much effect on the main game and it's enjoyable just very short and I wish it was longer.
Also Little Nightmares III was just announced that it's release date has been pushed back to 2025 so at least that gives you plenty of time to check out the second game and everything else this franchise has to offer if you wish lol. God I can't wait for the third game. The fact they are delaying it to make sure it's the best possible product and not rushing it and releasing something half baked gives me a lot of confidence.

That's awesome Palintir - thank you for the heads up about LN2 DLC... I did buy the bundle, so I think I have it. Knowing how short it is, I'll try to attach it to another video, and not make it some stand-alone one. I definitely want to play it before LN3 is released, so the delay is beneficial to me... who knows, maybe LN3 will be a game I can actually play close to launch, since I've played the previous games...lol. New Released content just hasn't had a chance of happening here, since most of the time, I'm still playing the previous games leading up to it. ;-)

    • @Palintir10
      @Palintir10 Месяц назад +1

Actually unlike how in the first game to access the DLC content you needed to go to the chapter selection menu you'll naturally encounter the DLC content as you play through the main game so no need to worry about needing to attach it to your playthrough vids because as long as you already own it you'll likely just encounter it during your normal playthrough as if it's just an extra section you find.
And that is very true about the new released content lol. Tbh I rarely play newly released content either and often play games that are at least a few years old partly cause the price tends to have gone down and also I often am perfectly content on waiting for that to happen especially since I have so many older games to check out too. Tho I'm getting Little Nightmares III the moment it drops lol.

I love this part because you feel like you have your own little army .
The Nomes run this place and the enemies don't attack them .
The elevator scene always gives me chills .
The next chapter is heartbreaking .

Agreed, this was a fun place to run around. I did get stuck on that 1 puzzle for a while, but not to the point of frustration... it just took a while. I next DLC was by far my favorite - though you're right about the heartbreaking twist. The puzzles were fantastic!

Not on the schedule yet, but I do plan to play both still. I actually have a 1-week vacation coming up in 2 weeks, so I've been trying to get a big lead on active playthroughs. Once I get back though, I'll start nailing down some of my 'next' playthroughs.
