as a bloke who does this stuff for a living ( rim repair / gutter rash repair ) - PRo tip WD40 when you 3000 will greatly help with the final product as for your gold.. that is generally how powder coat comes out, you can clear over it just make sure you scuff it really really well or it wont adhear very well and it will just chip down the track ( just like bmw stock clear if you have ever seen it )
It's definitely a good wheel for the Crown, and I can see how they'd be absolutely excellent in a shade closer to gold than yellow. And thanks for reminding us that it's okay to pay others to do work for you sometimes, and there are multiple good reasons for doing so! I do enjoy wrenching but wheel repairs are, pardon the pun, outside my wheelhouse. Might try it for kicks and learning something, but not to get usable results :D
Great episode. I reckon the gold looks the goods on the comfy crown. My mates dad had a 78 Crown Super Saloon when we were teenagers back in the late 80's, we called it the Japanese Statesman.
You can clean those inside barrels man, and to help keep them clean, ceramic coat them. Makes it heaps easier to keep the whole wheel clean. Especially from brake dust. I use Bowen's ceramic coat. Spray on wipe off.
Awesome variety for the channel mate. I’ll be doing this on a couple cars I have coming up so it was well timed for me. Keep cracking on with the great work. 👌
5:28 You can use the Nano coating stuff like you would for paint, and all the crap just washes off, more so for the exterior side of what you can see. 15:13 Eh, there aren't any other gold accents and need some badge swapping. Where before it was nice matching Black/Silver.
As a JDM wheel lover and 80 series fan I love the work done on those Deerfield. I have a few sets that look tired but after building a set of meisters for my other car... .never again lol. Great work!
Woody, you should look into the 3d printing community. If you have got one complete centre cap, someone would be able to scan that. Then, potentially print it, or you could get it machined out of alloy.
Heck of a lot of elbow grease in this one! Nice results, but I'm with you - if you can, definitely pay someone else to do this!!! Good to see the squeaky mallet back, btw ;)
A wheel balancing machine can be pretty amazing for sanding and polishing faces - more speed than tyre machine so you just have to hold the paper on the surface.
For sure! A lot more relateable. Ive painted my very manky toyota tacoma rally wheels a few times now. Truth is, they need a full dress down and polish.
Check they aren't buckled before putting any effort in. I got caught out on one rim that looked fine but was cactus. I get them dipped/hydroblasted. Have done both 2k and powdercoating and I prefer the latter for ease of getting the job done with quick turnaround. One thing I will do on my next set is to apply ceramic coat.
Looking forward to what the Chicken Schnitzels are going on Woody…. Could it have something to do with the N54..??.. or am I totally off the mark? Love the vid once again Brother, peace
I would say ute chop the 80 but in all honesty that 80 is way to neat to chop. Only saying because I'd love to see a ute chop in detail so i can do mine haha.
Love the content mate but a bit of feedback for you. Try to relax your reading style on the voiceover parts of the video - you sound like you’re doing a bit of AI robot voice 😂 talking live sounds fine but the voiceovers sound really robotic. Love the vids and the channel mate so just treat this as constructive feedback for what is an awesome channel 😊
Love the wheels and the process, but that's definitely some of the most dog rough powder coating I've ever seen on a wheel. Think you got taken for a ride with that one!
Yeah I’m a bit bummed too, original I thought it was gonna be $50 a wheel which I could work with then I got the invoice 😂 kinda wish I just went silver again on the 18’s instead of gold
I assume you've already spoken to Mark and found out the centre caps he makes aren't the right size for those wheels. If not, worth checking. Honestly I understand not being sold on the colour as I feel the same, but they still function as required.
You should be pushing with ya silicone gun instead of draging just like mig welding it will get it deeper and seal better and if you do it right you wont have to use your finger and make a mess lol
even thought i flicked through this episode. this is quality content man. keep this up. honestly if you can make your thumbnails a lil more pop ( not matt armstrong level of edditing/ the mr beast thumbnail. ), it make your thumb nails a little more iconic because on days like this where i skip through i do wanna go back and watch it but usually it just blends into the youtube void. edit im dyslexic AF

Nah, inside of my barrels are micky mouse. Use a quality iron remover like carpro iron x and a good brush like chemical brothers red wheel brush. Easy done…
Nice one, Woody! Those Maxtreks on the company Crown are rubbish. I had a set on my car and they lasted a couple of years and had bugger all grip. They're ok if you're a wanna-be drift warrior, but that's about it.
Love the Hommage to Barrel Bros with the stick finger 😂😂😂
I thought it was a bendin with brandon finger, i guess a few of em use it.
I thought it was Babs…
Fair play for the honesty on the gold wheels after putting all the time in, quality episode Woody
Definitely an extensive rim job 😜

Thanks for the tips mate!
Yep, any gloss makes power coating pop.
@@theskidfactorythose AC Snitzles look an awful lot like Blitz 03’s.. they are one of my favs! Look Absolutely Gnarly on just about anything!
And that Cruiser looks Absolutely Sick. 💯 MINT

I like the chill DNB music woody!
Ripper vid! Loved every second
Love the music on this one.
The squeaky hammer ❤ haven't heard that in a while.
Also 6x139,7 would fit on a Pajero
The Land Cruiser is so clean, all the polished accents work really well, just the right amount of shiny!
Great episode. I reckon the gold looks the goods on the comfy crown. My mates dad had a 78 Crown Super Saloon when we were teenagers back in the late 80's, we called it the Japanese Statesman.
The cruiser wheels are sick
Mark would be proud 👍
Perfect timing. Just finished Benny
I love the squeaky hammer
Caps and gloss, and it will look perfect
this was a great episode!!! good topic

That cruiser looks unreal
love the Noriyaro shirt!
Did I just see a Noriyaro shirt. My favourite Aussie Japanese drifter.
Awesome variety for the channel mate. I’ll be doing this on a couple cars I have coming up so it was well timed for me. Keep cracking on with the great work. 👌
Wheely good job 👏
The Japanese Calais, I Like it!! May need to get some for my actual Calais. But that Cruiser Man, Sic as Bro😮😮❤❤

Good vid Woody, reckon with those centrecaps the crowns new look will be noice.
Also liked the outro, drive safe always a good message cheers
Japanese Calais. Loved the end result of the finished Works. Nice one Woody.

Really enjoyed the video Woody and lamb chops with mint sauce yum 👍

Extendo Pointy Finger and Squeaky Hammer ..... woah Woody , really spoiling us with the quality content

Good to see the squeaky mallet back, btw ;)
Joshys cruiser looks perfect now
I rate the gold!
Those gold Equips are exactly the right wheel for that car, Awesome!!
Definitely worth it regardless.
That 80 is clean
More landcruiser woody please 🙏
What do you want to see?
@@theskidfactory your mates old girl is pretty cool. but i'd like to see a 40 series ute build.
I surely enjoyed this one
I like the tall and narrow tire set up on the 80!
Thanks woodie

Ha... jackstands... and have at it.
Those Schnitzel wheels are looking tasty! 😁🤘
....
Btw: that German wheel & tuning company is called "Schnitzer". ✌️
Nice one woodrigos 🤙
A set of wheel whoolie brushes for cleaning the barrels when they're on your car 👍
That 80 is miiiiint
Loving the vid so far, but so digging the audio you've got in the BG, serious Metric/Fred V/Grafix vibes or is that some Moog DNB audiology going on?
❤ Love it!! All the Wheels look mint, the gold for me give off BBS vibes were everywhere back in the day😂 Ps could you not measure and 3d print caps??
Woody! You shoulda got the gold wheels done in the same grey as the two tone on that black car, polished lip and of course centre caps
Yeah man i know! kicking myself now
@@theskidfactory another video.... correcting choices....
Oh you're engaged, congratulations 🤝
19:50 Drive safe. Also consider replacing those seat belts, Josh.
Hell yes bro looking good man
Ive tried to build some rims now i just pay people lol
The schnitzels are Riverside Lehrmeister. You won’t find much online about them, saw a few when I was a wheel nerd in the 2010s
Close but not the same wheel!
For sure! A lot more relateable. Ive painted my very manky toyota tacoma rally wheels a few times now. Truth is, they need a full dress down and polish.

Bang on bro! but what vehicle is the N54 going into?
Get some centre caps 3d printed. Then you can make em whatever you want.
Was going to suggest the same thing, maybe with the skid factory logo instead??
I did some 16 x 8 Enkei Racing S. Big job with 40 bolts per wheel.
I here ya bro it took me 12+ hrs to sand and paint my 4 vs senator wheels 4 my vy but worth it turned out mint
The squeaky hammer noises are back!
Hey bro looking forward to the budget 2jz na-t build on the crown
Mint
Yeah the gold centres should have a more glossy finish to look better
need that cap pls restock
Check the website tomorrow bro!
@@theskidfactory Leeeegnd 😎
Gold only work with plenty of flake in it otherwise it just looks like mustard. Also clear coat is the right finish
I like gold wheels but I don't think they work on that particular car. Each to their own though. :)
Yeah I’m still not sold on them! Maybe better on a lighter coloured car?
It looks like a Mercedes, maybe something more solid.
I like the golf agasint the dark colour body. Just needs more gloss
My mates will see this and I'll have to do mine now
I would say ute chop the 80 but in all honesty that 80 is way to neat to chop. Only saying because I'd love to see a ute chop in detail so i can do mine haha.
oooh, a tire machine. I heard "time machine" and I was like.. huuh?!
The rims you diyed yourself, what do you do about chips, do you just spray clear to protect?
Why didn't you reach out to the Barrel Brothers for the center caps, and also for the cleaning/polishing?
Because I wanted to do it myself and make a video!
Did anyone else hear: It's lucky I have a TIME machine?
both tyre and time fit in the context since it's such a labour intensive job
Buy yourself a scalpel for cutting the tape to get a perfect edge
Mmmhhhh lecker AC Schnitzel 🤤
Damn you got ripped with powdercoating. In our country it's like ~200€ per set.
Paint stripper... works great soak it in water after... cop outttt kings lol
Sandblast, glass bead vapor blast , soda blast or Dry Ice blast? So many options nowadays.

Love the wheels and the process, but that's definitely some of the most dog rough powder coating I've ever seen on a wheel. Think you got taken for a ride with that one!
Haha I didn’t even show any close up’s, there’s some pretty bad spots 😂
@@theskidfactory oh mate 😂 never mind, they'll look fine when they're covered in brake dust!
Woody is slowly turning into turbo yoda
The ”bronze” was a massive let down, feel you, 110AUD a wheel seems expensive af, I paid 200 for a motorcycle frame..
Yeah I’m a bit bummed too, original I thought it was gonna be $50 a wheel which I could work with then I got the invoice 😂 kinda wish I just went silver again on the 18’s instead of gold

The Gold wheels are a little dull. It needs to be a glossy finish on a darker car.
Call vr wheels. They have work center cap waffles and nuts repop
Caps - 3D print or have printed
