  • I Took A $10,000 Bribe To Restore A Better STIHL 381 Cainsaw Than The Manufacturer
STIHL MS-381 chain saw is a safe line of extraction machines manufactured in Brazil using the most advanced German technology. It is a machine with high capacity, fast rotation and strong cutting. The product was launched to the market with enthusiastic reception and is used in garden houses as well as forestry projects. The machine helps work become more efficient and effective while reducing fatigue for consumers.

As a logger this was cringe to watch I’d gladly take 10k to restore a $600 saw that all parts are available that saw is newer then my 028 I have no issues getting parts for. Clickbait got me

As someone that works on Stihls everyday as a profession, that saw is not old enough or cool enough to justify that kind of money. A grand tops with serious sentimental values.

The covers on top are supposed to be orange and the handle likely black. You did not put the plate in front with the teeth back on. Did you fix the chain oiler inside the side plate? There is also supposed to be a kickback guard on the front that is black. The chain guide is also supposed to be while with STIHL on it and a label of some sort (likely a warning label). The letters on the outside of the cover holding the chain (where the oiler is) is supposed to have the letters blacked out.

My chain uses only Stihl bar and chain lube and rec fuel (no ethanol in the states) with Stihl oil gas mixture. My saw is kept in excellent shape and is always cleaned after each use. (Yes, I'm OCD)

Couple of things #1 why didn’t you go ahead and replace the needle bearings on the crankshaft you were already there and it’s pretty easy to get the piston side of the connecting rod and a simple press and the crank is apart and you can replace the other side. 2# for the love of God why did you spray paint it. Spray paint with never be as strong as powder coating and getting the paint inside of the rotating assembly is just completely ignorant paint will chip out and then get into everything. Machined surfaces need to be cleaned and free of debris and paint. I guess when you have done so many of these it just drives you crazy when you see people make simple mistakes. Throw that freaking chain away and get a new one before you kill somebody with it flying off in pieces they are cheap enough. Hot glue really out of all the adhesives there are on the market you used hot glue. I guess this is not a working saw it’s going to be a display
