  • In this video, we cover the Porsche 992 911 GTS and the technical details. We then drive it on track to see just how capable the car is at the limit. There is a 911 for everyone, and aside from the GT cars, this is the hardest edge version they sell. Which would you choose?

      One of my biggest pet peeves is how similar the terminology and phrasing used throughout so many of these reviews is. It’s almost like it’s a prerequisite to say that “the shifter is notchy”. I’ve seriously heard some twenty something David Patterson clone say “the shifter in this car is vague and rubbery feeling. It’s notchy.”
      One of the many reasons I watch Mark and Jack. They formulate their thoughts into words extremely well and aren’t always regurgitating the same old car journalist-isms.

      @@larrylampshade1734 They've really ruined almost all other automotive reviewers for me with how much more detailed and unique they are in their reviews...and the humor. They also seem to be some of the most honest. It seems like there are so many reviewers out there that refuse to say too much bad about a car because of the fear of those manufacturers not allowing them to have access to their cars, and the reviews really come off as paid spokesperson feeling rather than actual consumer advice. I also think the repeating of key words is a lot of them not being objective enough and just regurgitating what they hear at a press event or from reps of the manufacturers.

    Having had both a GTS, GT3, and GT3RS, the GTS is truly the better car for the street. The other two can easily be driven on the street, but they "feel" like they always want to go faster, and you can tell street driving is not what they were built for. In terms of track driving, the RS is by far the king. But I would not want to take it cross country like the GTS.

    Interesting. I bought a 991.2 recently as I couldn’t get an allocation for the 992. Could have ordered a new GTS- probably cheaper and true that the difference in performance isn’t large. The decision was made to go gt3 because of the NA engine. I’ve owned 2 turbos, they are crazy fast but the sound even with an exhaust change doesn’t match the gt3. You can’t beat 9000 rpm for crazy! I’m also a wing guy, but that’s just me. All in, it was a tough choice to go with the older gt3 and your video presents the points between the cars well. Good job.

    I was looking at these earlier this year and ended up getting a GT-R...which is a 2016, ~800whp, flex-fuel psychopath that I absolutely adore. But, having had the GT-R for a while, it's VERY clear what the extra Porsche money gets you...refinement. The interior of my car is actually very nice...you probably wouldn't guess it was a Nissan if you didn't know (it's a Premium trim with the upgraded leather seats)...and the engine and AWD system are amazing. The transmission, though...yea...THIS is where I REALLY notice the lack of refinement. It's very mechanical (which, being a huge car guy, I kinda like) but kinda stumbles and gets confused sometimes when driving around town. It basically wants to go WoT ALL THE TIME. lol The PDK is a true work of art. I'm a hard core 3 pedal-lover and MT vs PDK would actually be a tough decision to make. It's SO good. Porsche really has created something special. Refined and smooth when you want, track weapon when you need. SO good.
    My car IS faster, though. 😁

    • @KosmicHRTRacingTeam
      @KosmicHRTRacingTeam Год назад

      Stock for stock it’s faster? Straight line or proper circuit? Every GTR I’ve driven is so damn big and front end heavy it’s a huge turn off and the whole thing is so dang played out. can’t believe anyone would drop $180 on a nismo edition when it’s basically an update of a car that used to run $80k. It was a steal at $80, but at 180, someone’s high on something. The driving dynamics are absolutely horrid above 7/10ths (but I don’t like large cars, heavy cars, front engine cars, AWD cars or slushboxes). I’d rather have a 360 in a manual or a 997 GT3 and be “slower”, but I tell all my Tesla buddies the same thing

    I don’t understand Mark’s comments about the GT3 being a better car? Of course it is. However, you just can’t go out and get a GT3 because there is a game that’s played by all dealers. Therefore, if you want a manual the GTS is your best option in the Porsche line-up. It’s frustrating that you can’t just walk in and buy a GT3……that’s why I’m in que for a GTS personally. I enjoy your channel! Keep up the good work and thanks.

    2:45 freeze frame: why do Porsches all have wave pattern on their brake rotors? Ive noticed this on my 981 GTS and all of my friends Porsche 2 doors. Engineers tell me it's normal but isn't this usually a huge issue? I just don't understand the technical explaination to why it appears and why it's considered okay
    The rotors on this video are new so that wave pattern isn't super visible by based on shade of the colors you can see it start to form. After a year or two the wave pattern is extremely noticeable like little hills on the rotors

    I feel like the sweet spot is a well optioned RS3. Still tens of thousands under the base price of a 911 and even more practicality. Plus, it's actually a car at the top of a range so it feels impressive, like you bought the car you really wanted, not like you stretched your budget to afford a bargain basement stripped base model 911 just to get that badge. Base 911 to me feels like that first year out of college when my friends were leasing the BMW 3 series base. Like, why? Just get a Camry SE V6 if you can't afford an M3. It'll help you save money to afford the better car later, too.

    • @georgehugh3455

    There is more information in the three gauges you can see than in the five gauges of the old cars.
    When so configured the right center gauge shows: oil temp, oil pressure, analog fuel remaining and range, and battery voltage. It can also show: tire pressures, driving mode, map, compass and more.
    So it doesn't really matter than you can't see the outer gauges without moving your head. All you have to move is your thumb.

    I'm curious what you guys think of this car having a plastic oil pan instead of a steel one?
    I know the plastic oil pan is pretty strong and robust. I have one on my MK7 GTI, and it's been perfectly fine with all the driving I do, but for the price of this 911, I would think that it would at least have a steel oil pan, unless they tested it and the steel oil pans kept leaking or something due to it needing a silicone sealant instead of a rubber gasket to seal it. I know that happens with just about everyone who switches over to a steel oil pan on the MK7/7.5 GTI/R models.

    still waiting for a back to back comparo of a PDCC vs. non PDCC car - along with some type of 'dive' on the total component weight differences and unsprung weight differences of the two ........ has PDCC been programmed to have the car 'lean into a bend' using info from yaw / rotation, dive/squat sensors, steering angle and even GPS data yet ? Watch old footage of the FW15C on a 4 post rig programmed per track for each corner courtesy Adrian Newey and crew.....it's in the Senna movie ....

    In the real world where I might be lucky enough to have a DD and weekend car, a GTS with buckets and a nice color is about as good as it gets without spending $200k+ IMO. It's also way better to live with on roads with bumps and cracks etc. and probably faster in most situations with the turbo shove.

    Both the 992 GTS and the 991.2 GTS are a better option than the GT3 in many ways (quicker too in some circumstances). The lower down torque, smooth increase throughout the rev range, is a better drive.

    • @ssaini5028
      @ssaini5028 10 месяцев назад +2

      The GTS is faster everywhere with all that torque available at 2200 rpm. The GT3 is a great track car but its not a good road car, I drove it for two days when I was in Santa monica. Steering is darty and ride is harsh and I couldnt redline it 9K on public roads. GT3 is exciting though, but I would go GTS if I had the money
