Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel and enduring cult favorite, “Bad Monkey” tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey.
The ensemble cast also includes L. Scott Caldwell (“The Fugitive”), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”), Meredith Hagner (“Search Party”), Natalie Martinez (“La Promesa del Retorno”), Alex Moffat (“Saturday Night Live,” “Holidate”), Michelle Monaghan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Ronald Peet (“First Reformed”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”), with special guest star John Ortiz (“American Fiction) and guest stars Zach Braff (“Scrubs”), Ashley Nicole Black (“Ted Lasso”), Scott Glenn (“The Leftovers”) and Charlotte Lawrence in her television debut.
Hailing from Warner Bros. Television, “Bad Monkey” is developed by executive producer and showrunner Bill Lawrence through his Doozer Productions. Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses (“Scrubs”), Marcos Siega, Vaughn and Liza Katzer are also executive producers.

Man, so good to see Vaughn back. The role suits him good too. Apple tv is the only service now that is consistently dropping good stuff.

Vince Vaughn is a national treasure.
Idk why but V-squared Never gets old to me. Those classic witty/dry/"cynical", yet subtle "1-liners" is a lost art. (Yes, I'm aware it's a motion pic w/a written script) ANYthing I've Ever seen him in, (YES s2 of TD included) He has the best delivery & lines.
Yeah, he's really good at those snarky one-liners! It took me a minute to figure out what "V-squared" meant, lol.
Same - "Just past, uh bathrobe time so you're still good" literally sold me on it
Carl Hiassen, one of my all-time favorite authors, this should be pure gold.
Pure gold is a line spoken by Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon in True Detective season two; very fitting.
The same with Elmore Leonard novels. Most of Carl Hiassen adaptations were pretty terrible.

when were you filming?

That’s a long lag. When I did background, the episodes we filmed in January aired in July (the same year).

I think it varies, depending on your location. There was a post on a Facebook page for the vacation destination town I lived in, and I called the number. It wasn’t fun, though, and we weren’t paid scale (the casting agent gave us 20% of scale). I wouldn’t do it again, even for scale, because the hours can be brutal. We were on set for 16 hours a day.
The writing was hilarious, one of my favorite reads. I love the casting here, Vaughn is a good fit for Yancy
The quippy banter between Yancy and Rita looks reminiscent of the novel. I hope Hiaasen’s writing shines through
Love every novel by Carl Hiaasen. Vince Vaughan is the perfect Hiassen hero - if such a thing exists in his murky Florida.

@c-hildy oh nice I like scrubs haven't seen the other shows though so maybe I will give them a look if they are similar type of comedy.
@jackbauer5455 his whole schtick is to make you laugh then in the next scene make you emotional. While Ted Lasso and Shrinking aren't as slapstick as Scrubs he still pulls that off with those shows.

Still his best. Not much of this trailer landing for me personally, but I'll give it a crack, When people start shouting lines to try and make them land funnier you usually know you're in trouble.

“Made” was also very funny with V.V. Not as good as Swingers, but has a few very funny scenes, and he’s pretty much the exact same character.
Im loving the series so far and its nice to see Vince Vaughn in this type of role again. His comedic talent is underrated at times. I really enjoyed him in the last season of Curb your enthusiasm too. I love that guy

He was great in comedy classics like Dodgeball, Wedding Crashers, Starsky and Hutch and Old School, and I also enjoyed his more recent dramatic roles in Hacksaw Ridge, True Detective season two, Brawl In Cellblock 99 and Dragged Across Concrete. This trailer has me interested to watch the show! 👍🏽

This looks like a return to form in comedy for Vince Vaughan. That fast talking quick wit. I wonder, with his connection with Jon Faverou that he was ever a consideration for Iron Man.

I always forget that I have to stop watching these trailers after 10 seconds otherwise they will spoil the whole movie.

- It's SAD to see that - Jon Favreau - ( That one of his biggest Film Collaborator / Partner - and most importantly one of his BEST FRIENDS ) wasn’t there on Vaughns Biggest Hollywood Day.
- Jon Favreau - definitely should have been there for sure, he went - MIA - on one of Vaughns - Biggest Life Moments.
- If they had some kind of Falling Out - Favreau should have at least attended the event for support last minute , even if he wasn't going to be a guest speaker.
- Even Mel Gibson showed up to show support and only had worked with Vince on Hacksaw Ridge.
- Hope they can make Amends and become Great Friends Again and start on another classical comedy together. 🙌 🎥🎞📽🎬 😄
