- How about a slim, lightweight, single stack 9mm carry pistol that's actually kinda pleasant to shoot at the range? The Walther PPS M2 is the one. Here's our full review.

It's time for a 10+1 PPS M3! If the folks at Walther could figure out how to make it compatible with the old magazines, that would be amazing too.
And ambidextrous!..
Damn, this reply was from two years ago…and still no PPS M3!
@@Bamboosh00ts lol i was thinking the same thing
8+1 is fine. If you're a cia spy get a 10+1 gun. Not everyone needs to be John Wick.
I like how this reviewer got to the point. Nice review.
I have been carrying the Walter PPS M2 as my EDC for like 3 years now. I personally love it because of its ergonomics and I love German guns. 😊
I have and have bought every pistol you can imagine. I rotate three pistols depending on where I am going and what I am doing. WPPSM2, Jericho 941 and Masada 9mm. My choice of carry is the WPPSM2. It is lite, accurate and I carry 2 extra extended mags. The WPPSM2 is truly my favorite carry gun.
Just traded off my Ruger security 9 compact for the Walther pps 2 LE. I love this gun! It feels a lot better to carry than the Ruger. Less rounds but man....this gun shoots sooooo much smoother. Love this as my edc.
I bought a PPS M2 9mm last month. It's my daily EDC pistol now and shoots great for me. I'm a big guy (6'5" tall) and I have big hands, but the PPS M2 fits my hands well. Very amazed and pleased with this pistol's performance. Plus, Walther is running a $100 rebate on PPQ an PPS pistols through September!
Still carry this firearm everyday? How do you feel about it now I just purchased it and will be picking it up tomorrow.
that striker indicator...damn man this channel is very good. Most other gun channels miss the striker indicator for some reason.
You give great firearm and balistics reviews, just want to say thanks...
Thanks back atcha!
I appreciate the quality your reviews, because they are professional, factual, and focused with no rambling, bias, and antics. Keep up the good work!
After 2 years of ownership as well as daily carrying i will say that i am very happy with this choice. Minimal felt recoil allows for
plenty of range practice. One thousand rounds plus and not a single issue with this gun. Very comfortable in the hand, good trigger, goes bang EVERY time and Walther quality. PPS M2 LE. Get yourself this reliable, well built sidearm.
The Walther PPS M2 is my absolute EDC, hands down. Excellent firearm in my opinion, with a very good trigger!
I bought a PPQ M2 about a month ago and have absolutely fell in love with everything about it; It's ergos are fantastic and I shoot it better than any other pistol I've owned. I like it so much that it influenced me to get a PPS because I didn't have a single stack in my collection. Now that I've spent some range time with it I can attest that everything you said about it is 100% true. It is a fantastic little gun that has amazingly little recoil. With the Walther $100 rebate going on you can own one of these little sweethearts for about $300; an absolute steal in my book. With the PPQ platform and the PPS in single stack Walther is head and shoulders above the competition. Do yourself a favor and try a Walther before you buy that block; I mean Glock 😬. You will not be disappointed
Just bought one this weekend.
I LOVE my PPS M2! The ergonomics are outstanding, and I find that I shoot it well using 115/124 gr. Ammo. Thanks for doing this review and helping to get the word out!
one of the few channels you can count on to do their due diligence and trust their results whole heartedly.
I've carried the PPS M2 for almost a year now and absolutely love it. And it really does have a fairly soft recoil for a subcompact 9mm pistol.
AnthemBassMan what did you switch to after almost the year?
I'm still carrying it. I bought my Walther last November to replace the Ruger LC9S. The LC9S is a pretty nice little 9, but I love the PPS M2. I carry the PPS M2 in a CLeveland Kydex IWB holster. I also carry a Smith & Wesson SD40 every so often, but that's mainly if I'm out walking in the woods.
I’d really like to shoot one and compare to my G43
I just bought my first one today, super excited
I carry the Shield and never thought the recoil was anything to worry about. But this gun is interesting and maybe worth a look.
Can't wait for the Walther PPS M3
Greatest pistol review channel!! Thanks for taking the time to share!
First time buyer and I'm going with the PPS M2.
great review
I see you commenting on a lot of other popular RUclips channels pages commending their reviews and I just wanted to say thank you! It is good to see a larger channel supporting the other guys in the community.
Thanks!
Mrgunsngear Channel yeah, I've seen you too. Great minds think alike
I agree, nice review, as always. Not interested in this design, however .....still looking for that nice DA/SA ultra compact to appear.
I agree with you on that one. I feel DA/SA is the safest for compact carry. I think the CZ-75 Rami is also a good option. My normal CC is a CZ-P07
why you don't have over a million subs is beyond me. The quality of your videos and reviews is A++ hopefully one day you will get the recognition you deserve.
Bought a ton of ammo from you folks. Great prices and service. Shield solves all problems.
Nice review. I enjoy my PPS M2. It's a great single stack gun. It bumped my Shield to a blackup role.
I bought a gun last year. and I am extremely satisfied. it's the best edc in the world
The PPS M2is a great pistol. I've had mine for about six months now and I have approximately 1400 rounds through it. My only complaint is occasional trigger bite. I have not seen any of the peening that others have reported (apparently the trigger bar contacts the barrel). I usually get 3 to 6 inch groupings at 25 yards using Fiocchi or spear gold dot 124 grain ammo with a modified Weaver stance. I will have to say however I shoot this pistol better than just about any other compact pistol I have.
This gun wasnt even on my radar. Thanks for the well done overview.
Great video as always! I really like mine and ended up selling my Springfield xds and Glock 43 because of it. Just didn't feel the need to have all three when the Walther pps m2 just did everything better IMO.
Thanks for such a thorough and comprehensive review!
Good piece of info about the striker indicator hitting a finger to help with a possible ND. I did not realize that. THANKS!
I have several pistols including Glocks, Smith and Wesson and several others I bought this Walther pps m2 le because of a good deal on Black Friday OMG this has been my EDC ever since love everything about it Awesome shooter
great detailed review. enjoy the straight forward honesty.
Thanks for the review...one of my CCW pistols and it has been totally reliable and shoots well
I wish that paddle mag release would become more popular.
River Styx Armory I love the paddle release on my PPQ
River Styx Armory I'm not that familiar, is the paddle release mimic HK pistols?
Miguel Wong it's just a German style release shown in the video
I actually hate the paddle release, my mum's PK380 has it and I get the ambidextrous advantage, but as a righty the button release system feels way better.
River Styx Armory Same here. I'm a Southpaw & the ambi paddle always works better for me than an ambi mag button.
Thanks for reminding the public of what a great little gun this is. I recently put my PPS M2 LE back into my carry rotation. It's bigger and heavier than my now, vacationing Glock 43; but the ergonomics are far superior.
Very well done review. I got this gun early this year and it functions flawlessly. Love the ergonomics and the reliability. 👍
I have the ppq and love the heck out of it. I just got the pps and it’s perfect for concealed carry.
Another good one is the Sig Sauer P938. Very comfortable to shoot for an extended time at the range. The Hogue rubber grips on mine are very comfortable.
Such an underrated channel! You all deserve more subscribers. Also, I saw a lucky gunner billboard on my commute in Atlanta! It was cool to see you in the real world.
We are real!
I personally think in the Stryker fire market, it’s Walther and then everyone else. The ppq has the best trigger in the market and the quality of the pps and looks are way better than anything I’ve seen.
I LOOOVE THE FINGER GROOVES ITS WHAT MADE ME BUY THIS PISTOL
And for seniors/ people with failing grip strength, I've noticed that every Walther I've had are noticeably easier to rack the slide as well.
Thankyou for the review. Still have classic and will continue. Accuracy on mine is amazing. Would get one if the release was reversible. But besides that, I appreciate the bringing up the original. 👍🏻
Carry the PPS M2 exactly because it is a great shooter that just happens to be a good size to conceal.
Springfield makes XDs factory mags in 3 sizes as well-- 7rd flush fit and 8 and 9 rd extended in 9mm. A grip safety can be used similarly to that rear indicator-- practice drawing and reholstering with the thumb over the back sight, transitioning to a regular grip as you draw. No NDs. My primary carries are an XDm and XDs, and the added safety while drawing and reholstering is a big part of why I chose the XDm/XDs family.
great videos I own one my self it replaced my M&P 9mm defiantly recommend the PPS
I really enjoy the PPS M2 LE Edition. Shoots like a full sized gun IMO. Thanks for the share!!
Love the PPS M2
Was shopping for quite a while, I tried the PPS M2 and was sold after a box of just cheap 115 g. Can't wait to try some different loads
I carry an LCRx, but would totally get this gun. Love it!
Bought an M2 and have been carrying it every day for the last two months and been taking it to the range every chance I get. Yes, it is noticeably bulkier that Shield and G43, but that's the full extent of PPS M2's disadvantages.
It conceals just fine both in appendix and 5 o'clock carry, especially with a 6 round magazine.
Its grip fits very well in my hands (although not as comfortably as that of CCP).
Most importantly, I shoot it very well, despite the below-average skill level (must be the fairly long slide rail).
The bottom line is the usual - try everything and see what works for you, but PPS M2 is just as worth trying out as its better-known competitors.
Have a Walther PPS, which I loved and carried every day. Then I picked up the M2 and carry that now. Small differences made a huge difference, still love the M1 and against the grain prefer the ambit paddle release. Don't mind the button though, and understand their decision for it
I completely agree with you. I've owned the Sig P239, XDS 45, G42 & 43 along with the 9MM Shield. The only single stack I own now is the PPS M2. It's also the gun I conceal carry the most of the hand guns I own.
Saddlegait45 ever shot a Kahr to compare it to?
Very good review. Kinda surprised the Ruger LC9s Pro didn't make your cut particularly because it has such a nice trigger. Thanks!
I love mine. I've owned a older shield and a newer 2.0 shield and this one is my keeper. Do yourself a favor when you get it and don't judge how you like shooting it until you shoot over three hundred rounds through it. It butters up and is a treat after that many rounds fired.
I'm glad you reviewed this! I am hemming and hawing about whether to replace my LC9sPro. I like the trigger and how it totally disappears on my waist at 3:30 but I hate the grips and kinda 'meh' about how it feels to shoot. Considering the PPS M2 and PX4 Compact.
I really enjoy your videos and your lack of 'tactical' heavy metal music!
I have a Walther PPS version one and I love it
I have a shield and pps m2 in my rotation. Ergos on the Walther are top notch. Everything about it screams winner (if your right handed). I don't carry it more than my shield but I pull it out to the range more and more.
I don’t know why in my many handguns, pps is the only one I like to carry it every day
I just Bought Springfields first DA/SA single stack 9mm. The XDe.It's a gem and very similar in size to the PPS. It has more capacity with one 8 and one 9 round mag in the box. Has a safety decocker and a very nice front fiber optic sight. It's dead on out of the box and recoil is surprisingly soft. Has the same melonite finish and grip as other newer XD models with the same quality. It does not have the grip safety of the other XD's nor does it need it. It's a much safer pistol for carry than the PPS with less chance of a negligent discharge. I'mPretty sure that the XDe will fit in a holster made for the PPS. That's what I'm banking on at least. Going to buy a Tagua leather IWB Holster made for the PPS and hope the XDe will fit
Another informative video...that convinced me I'm ok with my P938.
For carry it's usually between my G26, M2, CM 9 or LCP (depending on weather and other factors) The M2 is by far the best shooter. It shoots like a compact or even full size, amazing trigger too. Hard to beat
The PPS M2 is, in my opinion, the overall best single stack 9mm out there. It's weight is more than the competitors, but you really don't feel it when carrying and it dramatically improves the shooting experience over it's competition. It's actually fun to shoot - and accurate! I love the styling, the grip, and the out-of-the-box sights are great. The ONLY complaint I have is the trigger itself. It feels gritty and lacks a smooth pull. Other than that, it's a winner. I've bought 2 and love 'em.
That striker indicator is a great feature!
Love this gun...it's only my second one. First gun was a Smith & Wesson SD9VE and not only do I enjoy shooting the PPS more despite it being significantly smaller, I seem to be more accurate with it too. Go figure. One of the white dots came flying off at the range after less than 100 rounds which pissed me off but I was planning (and since have) to replace them with Trijicons anyway.
I have a pps 40 I just got for christmas and a Taurus 9mm which I've had for a while which shoots very well and accurate no issues. I was very surprised that my pps 40 shot smoother and less recoil than my 9mm.
Great review as always.
Own all three. I love the finger grooves
The HS Produkt (Springfield Armory import) XDS also has light recoil and three magazines with different capacities.
Excellent Firearm Review!
I like my Glock 43, but with the low price and rebates floating around for these, I'd probably opt for the Walther now.
Also, just picked up a bunch of ammo from you guys. Thanks for the great videos!
It's a solid CCW! Single Stack 9mm
Very informative review! Boy, everyone in the comments section around here seems to be huge Springfield fans. I'll take a PPS over an XDS any day of the week.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s my daily carry. 8+1, and 2- 7 round mags in a pouch.
It's way more shootable than the P365. I'm not worried about the capacity difference.
Got the PPS M2 for my wife for her birthday. I love my wife, and she hates my usual carry piece, a Ruger LC9s. The Walther is SOOoooo nice to shoot, I'm envious. When I do an extended range session with the Ruger, I wrap my trigger finger with a bit of electrical tape, otherwise I'll get a blood blister.
Maybe you should upgrade to the LC9s pro? (If not trade up to the Walther also) I've heard the trigger on the pro model is much better.
I love the M2..... great CCW pistol
I love my Walter , carry every day!!
note: the pps m2 9mm has the limited Walther rebate offer. that pistol & the PPQ m2, PPQ .45acp series has $100.00USD rebate.
If I didn't already have the M1 in both the PPS and PPQ, I'd be running out to get one.
Rebate still out there?
Lucky 🍀 Gunner your videos are some of the best on RUclips. You really do an outstanding job, Please keep the videos coming.
I really would like to shoot the PPS M2 sometime and compare it to my Glock 43. From the looks of it my G43 would probably wind up in the safe lol
The Springfield XDs has 7, 8, & 9 round factory magazines.
I didnt know about some of these features on my gun, thanks.
great vid. I carry the original in 40 S&W. talk about snappy. also get trigger bite. the biggest improvement i think about the M2 is the undercutting of the trigger guard that gives u a higher grip for better control. always thought that little nib in the back of the slide was a loaded chamber indicator.
Good knowledgeable review
Really good stuff.
Professional quality video review. Rarely seen on RUclips.
Keep up the good work...quality over quantity.
After I bought this, sold my Shield and LC9. The Walther is superior in my opinion
Good review. I liked the original, now Classic PPS so much I bought one for my wife and then a third as a spare. We have a ton of magazines so I am not changing to the new one. I also prefer the original magazine release, it's much less likely to drop the magazaine inadvertently during deep carry.
I have the PPS-1 too, 4000 thru, it with not an issue ->ever! my EDC, I have moderately small hands so it fits me perfect. For price and quality you can bet it. got mine on sale at Cabela's..
I'm in the same boat. I also bought a second PPS and do not like the fact that the mags are not interchangeable. I too also prefer the mag release and the rail; whereas the M2 did away with the rail. My daughter is a lefty, so the ambidextrous release is a big feature for my family.
I have the original PPS and love it, especially with the larger rear grip panel installed.. Helps fill the hand better on these narrow grip pistols...Shoots better than my several other single stack 9mm.... I do find it odd that the Walther only holds 6rds while most others hold 7rds in the same size mag and grip.
Sounds the PPS M1 & M2 are both good, underrated pistols for CCW.
Thank you, sounds like a contender.
Great review🤸
I just pick one up and have enjoyed putting 500 rounds through it. I had no jams and no other issues to speak of.
Great video, very concise.
Thanks!
Chris - This was an excellent review and the PPS M2 is a fine concealed carry option.
I’m quite surprised, however, that you did not include the Walther CCP M2 in your triad of recommended 9x19mm mini autoloaders. Among its advantages, in comparison to firearms such as the G43, the CCP M2 has 8+1 capacity, a 3.54 inch stainless, cold hammer forged, polygonal barrel (longer sight radius and velocity), and - most important - it employs a fixed barrel blowback action similar the the H&K P7’s (as contrasted to the ubiquitous Browning recoil concept). This system reduces recoil (your principal concern with sub and compact 9mm’s) immensely and it significantly enhances accuracy.
I’d wager that testing the CCP M2 against your very reasonable and useful Lucky Gunner metrics would result in a high aggregate score. Why don’t you “give it a shot?”
It's a very nice gun, but i don't carry single stacks anymore.Good review.
Great review! However, on accuracy for a pistol with this application, in my opinion 25 yards is a bit of a stretch. It's nice to know what the PPS M2 is capable of at that distance but it will most likely never be put to that test in a gun fight. To me, how it handles and how reliable it is are the most important aspects of a handgun in this class.
Again, thanks for the review. Yours is my go-to channel for the most accurate firearm data on RUclips.
Am a lefty and dropping mag no problem with left hand..just takes practice..thanks for the review
great video - thank you!
Second. I love my Shield but I may need to try one of these.
With your high opinion of the Walther PPS M2, it would be great to see a review of the Walther CCP M2. You gave the PPS M2 high marks for shootability due to lower felt recoil and it seems like the CCP M2 would be even better in that department. PS--This is one of the most professionally fimed and presented gun channels around, kudos for the great work!
Thanks, Matthew, glad you like what we're doing. In my, admittedly, limited experience with the CCP, I don't consider it a very good option. The design is not as robust as the PPS and they often have issues with parts breakages.
@@LuckyGunner Thanks for the reply. Were your experiences with the CCP M2? I have not fired either generation of the PPS or CCP, but Walther seems to be pretty good about responding to customer feedback to address issues in succeeding versions of the pistols.
The CCP uses a gas system that is more complex than the more standard recoil-operated pistols like the PPS. On a CCP I saw at the range, the user fired a few shots and then the slide flew off the frame and landed a couple of yards down range. A quick search online revealed that this is not an uncommon problem. If I remember correctly, there is some kind of retaining tab that holds the spring for the gas piston in place and if that tab breaks, the whole slide comes off the gun. Any modern pistol may occasionally have failures, but they will rarely fail in such a spectacular fashion unless they have been mistreated.
I still Love it!
